... Good question! What you are about to read is almost entirely my idea of what Creepers exactly are, you don't have to take any of this seriously.
CREEPERS, from the very beginning, people have asked what these explosive green.. Things are. Searching the Wiki for answers, all I came across is this "When asked to describe the physical texture of a Creeper, Notch said they would feel "crunchy, like dry leaves". That sentence right there started a idea in my head, that Creepers aren't animals, but a animal/plant hybrid. They evolved from Sunflowers, after thousands of years, the Sunflowers lost their beautifulness, and started to become the Creeper that terrorizes us today.
They could reproduce asexually, but this took days, weeks. First, they had to find a nice flat grassy area, and then root themselves to the ground. Eventually their roots would spread about, and would preduce baby Creepers, who would rise out of the ground, and repeat the process, but this took too long, most of the Creepers who rooted theirselves to the ground were eaten, only a few Creepers would survive each rooting. Over a few more thousand years on the berge of extinction, the Creeper developed a new organ, a Sporesack, tucked above the Creeper's stomach. Connected to it, was something we call the Explosive Gland.
Creepers had to adapt to thier new organ. They would stalk up behind helpless animals (preferably Humans), and explode. This may seem suicidal, but they have a reason to do it. The Sporesack carried millions of spores, and whenever the Creeper would explode, the spores that survived the explosion (usually around half), would qucikly fall to the ground, digging into it. In a few days, these spores would become small baby Creepers, and pop out of the ground like they used to, only now, they could feast on the animal thier mother killed for them (if nothing else got to it first), only about 400 of these babys will grow up into adult Creepers, repeating the process.
A Creeper's Explosive Gland contains high amounts of Gunpowder. When it finds it's baby's meal, it's tiny brain will send a tiny spark to the Explosive Gland, it takes a few seconds for it to reach down the "Fuse" (what a Creeper's Spine is called, it's not a real bone like we have, it's more like a tree trunk), causing a hissing sound. Creeper's can stop this process at anytime from the brain sending the signal, to right before it reach's the Explosive Gland, incase the animal tries to run away before detonation.
I think that's about it. yep, that is what I think Creepers are. Not really much to say now.

That sentence right there made me stop reading this.
To me, creepers are mutated pigmen, created after pigmen scientists tried to produce an explosive creature and ended turning themselves into one. They reproduce by finding a mate just like the pigmen do and blahdy blahdy nature does its thing.
