Before the Overworld was formed, there were 5 supreme beings, called Titans, that each represented their own philosophy. Their names were Revlak, Titan of wisdom and knowledge, Gavlik, Titan of destruction and chaos, Aantos, Titan of creation and balance, Gorro, Titan of war and curses, and Dia, Titan of law and peace. Each Titan had his/her own jurisdiction in a land in the Skies, and the Titans kept themselves to themselves... That is, except for Gavlik and Revlak. Their philosophies forbade each other's whims, and the two Titans constantly waged wars against each other, but Gorro and Dia also had slight fueds amoungst each other, though not as harsh as Revlak and Gavlik's, as their battles nearly destroyed the Skylands.
In the midst of the absolute calamity between wisdom and chaos, Aantos, Titan of Balance, began shaping the Overworld and its various creatures, including a humanoid race of Pig-like men, whom followed Aantos' teachings and laws.
During the pinnacle of the Titan Wars between Gavlik and Revlak, Gavlik defeated Revlak in a surprise attack, and Revlak fell from the sky, only to land safely, and secretly, into Aantos' new world. Revlak was on the run, as his powers were sapped by Gavlik, and it was a matter of time before he found Revlak. As time began closing in on Revlak, he found a village of "Man-Pigs". Revlak disguised himself as on of their numbers, and taught the Pigmen his ways of knowledge and wisdom.
Gavlik eventually landed in the Overworld, and began the hunt for Revlak. He eventually found Revlak, as a king of the Pigmen. Gavlik was angered that he allowed Aantos to harness enough power to create a new dimension, right under his feet, too! He teamed up with Revlak as they plotted Aantos' downfall, through the use of Revlak's diplomacy, and their combined powers. Dia and Gorro eventually learned of the conspiracy, and wished to assist Revlak and Gavlik, out of fear, and jealousy, of Aantos' immense power.
Three Overworld days later, the first seige began, as Revlak's Pigmen invaded an adjacent tribe, and Aantos sprang into action, all according to Gavlik's plan. As Aantos appeared to the burning ruins of the Pigman tribe, he was ambushed by Gavlik, Gorro, and Dia. He was at a clear disadvantage, but fought valiantly. He managed to overpower Dia and Gorro, while Gavlik was at his last stand. As Aantos was about to eliminate Gavlik, a surprise attack from Revlak's Pigmen distracted Aantos, while Revlak and Gavlik combined their powers to perform a simutaneous attack that banished Aantos and the last of the Pigmen into an empty, swirling void. But, as Aantos' last move, he created another dimension, one that he and his former followers would live in: The Nether.
With Aantos gone, Dia and Gorro returned to fix the Skylands, while Revlak and Gavlik purged the Overworld for the last few followers of Aantos. After the Purge ended, Revlak and Gavlik then returned to the Skylands, as humans began their reign in the Overworld...
The Story of Ero, the Demi-Titan:
As Humans began their reign in the Overworld, the Titans ran into conflict once more. Gorro and Gavlik had border disputes over Aantos' untouched, and now abandoned, land in the war-scarred Skylands. Revlak did not take part of the conflict, however, because he was observing as the Humans began a large religous movement in their World, and this movement was led by a man named Ero. Ero's philosophy was that their existance was a dream, and that they needed to "wake up" to acheive enlightenment. Revlak soon requested the Ero would teach Humans the ways of Revlak's teachings, and, in return, Ero would become a Demi-Titan. Ero agreed, and his Demi-Titan name was "Herobrine."
Herobrine traveled through the corners of the Overworld, preaching Revlak's wisdom. He was soon the talk of the Titans, except for Gavlik. He saw that Revlak had expanded his philosophy once more, so Gavlik, in an act of jealousy, entered the Overworld as a humble priest of Herobrine, and he began corrupting Herobrine. Herobrine began performing acts of evil, starting at stealing bread and apples, but carried on to stealing gems and mugging travelers. Soon, Herobrine's acts became out of hand, and Revlak, with the rest of the Titans, came to the Overworld to stop Herobrine.
At last they found him, as a group of his followers were offering sacrifices to him. Then, Herobrine attempted to attack the Titans, in fear of losing his powers of a Titan. The three Titans (as Gavlik wasn't there) then took his powers from him, and cursed him with unavenged death. Herobrine was condemed to walk amoungst the fields, but could not eat, sleep, or even feel pain anymore. He traveled among the lands to find redemption, but never did.
The Titans returned to the Skylands, although Gavlik never told Revlak of his actions, but conflicts between the two continued...
