Hopeless is a story I've just begun writing. In a world where Steve is alone, and desperate as a young man, he must learn how to survive, a skill he hasn't practiced once yet. He will travel the blocky lands, to escape death that has come to SO many of his friends.
(Tell me what you all think, I've only written the small Prologue so far.)
Prologue
We all sat quietly around the crackling fire that night, wolves howled in the distance, the trees rustled quietly, swaying over us listening to our horrific stories. Craters marked the lands around us, it was not easy to earn peace that lonesome night. We all knew we were the last of our kind, we all knew there was no hope, we all knew the evils growing into this world.
Day in, and day out, we prayed to our almighty Notch, but he cursed us with even more treacheries, I watched as my friends were slaughtered day by day after that night we gathered 'round the fire. Some died in the violent storms, some were killed by the strange purple-eyed men that came to our tiny camp, and others died foolishly, going insane, running off cliffs, sacrificing themselves to the monsters that we'd come to know quite well.
The night I was alone, the moon was full, there was no need for a fire, the humid-summer air provided enough warmth, the moon provided enough light. The final scream of the last man I had known rattled through woods, the trees rocked. Tears slid down my cheeks, I knew I was next.
I didn't sleep that night, I watched the sky, the Moon seemed to feel it's sympathy for me, it glowed less and less as the night went on, as though it was crying with me. I waited till dawn that morning, when through the leaves of the birch trees, light filtered through, I grabbed my axe, and strapped my bow to my back. I looked at my friend's belongings, lying on the ground, cold and unused. I shook my head and wandered off into the forest of Oak and Birch trees, I knew what was coming, and I wasn't going to let whatever it was come get me so easily. I was hopeless then, Just Hopeless.
