Hello all! Below is the Minecraft story I am currently working on. I would greatly appreciate it if you could leave your honest comments below! If people are actually interested in the story after the first few chapters, I will continue it and continue to be serious about it. If not, then I will probably halt development. Thanks, enjoy!
Prologue
“We don’t have much time left,” said Notch, grimly, as he focused his eyes on the mysterious portal in the center of the room. “A long time ago I created humans to do the bidding of the gods. I made their home the Earth, and watched for centuries as they prospered and worshipped us. It wasn’t long before they advanced to the point where war broke out and technology overcomplicated life, not only depriving a number of humans of life, but also polluting the Earth itself at an extremely fast rate.”
“So then you gave up on the Earth, and created Minecraftia,” Herobrine replied calmly.
“That is correct, my brother,” said Notch who proceeded to grip the ends of the portal with either hand, peering in cautiously. “But I certainly did not create this alternate dimension, and definitely not that.”
Notch pointed into the portal, and Herobrine who was a few meters away slowly advanced to Notch’s side, placing his torch on the nearby wall.
“A dragon?” Herobrine asked, a touch of surprise in his voice, as he looked into the portal.
“RWARRRR!” cried the dragon on the other side of the portal, as if on cue.
“And a bad tempered one at that…” Herobrine muttered, taking a step back.
“Yes, brother. I don’t know how it got here, or why, but unfortunately, I think I have a good enough idea of its aim.”
“Oh? What might that be.”
“It want’s to destroy Minecraftia, I am sure of it. I can feel it’s evil aura even from a distance.”
The dragon flew around the black, starry sky, continuing to shriek and even blow what appeared to be large fireballs in random directions.
“If he wants to destroy Minecraftia, why is he still down there throwing a tantrum? And you’re telling me this one measly dragon can destroy the entire planet? I mean, I still can’t get over finding a portal that leads to an alternate dimension—besides the Nether of course—and the fact that on the other side of the portal is a giant fire-breathing dragon is pretty scary, and—“
“Silence, Herobrine!” Notch interrupted. Beads of sweat formed on his face, and he gripped the portal so hard it started to shake. “Take this a little more seriously, I know what I am talking about, and I am certainly not crazy! He is down there because he is trapped, but he is growing stronger by the day. It will not be long before he manages to break out. If we want to destroy him, it will have to be in his own territory, where he has not yet achieved his full power.”
“Sheesh, alright.” Herobrine said, trying to look annoyed rather than frightened. “But I guess this whole thing sort of makes sense. Whether the humans create it themselves, or an external force causes it, to have peace and order, you must also have chaos to balance it out… or something like that. I read about it in a book.”
“For once, you may actually not be too far from the truth, brother,” sighed Notch.
“I’ll take that as a compliment… but anyways, what do you plan to do? As gods, we can’t interfere directly with Minecraftia, and I doubt a few villagers with wooden swords would be able to do much damage…”
“Hmm… yes… maybe not wooden swords, or even stone swords, but what about a stronger material… like gold or diamond for instance?”
“Don’t make me laugh. The people of this world are still trying to figure out how to harvest watermelons; they couldn’t possibly get their hands on such materials! Even if we could communicate with them in order to help them, they would be scared out of their minds!”
“Yes, but we are not the only ones who possess the knowledge of more advanced technology.”
“What do you mean? The whole of Minecraftia is still only at the stone age. No one yet possesses the knowledge to make any sort of weapon out of anything besides wood and stone, and that includes potions I spent so long inventing after accidentally creating the Nether.”
“In Minecraftia, that may be true, but I know of a land well past the stone age.” Notch grinned.
“Earth.” Herobrine replied.
“Exactly.”
“That’s crazy! What are you going to do… abduct someone from the planet you abandoned years ago and hope they not only want to help destroy a giant fire breathing dragon, but can figure out how with a little extra knowledge?”
“Some humans would surprise you beyond belief, brother. You just need to find the right ones.”
[So, what did you guys think? I know the prologue could have been a lot better, but to be honest, I had to force it out in order to introduce chapter 1 (which will be done soon). For that reason, I hope chapter 1 is a lot more enjoyable. Thanks for reading!]
Chapter 1
If Alex Jones had a list of the top 10 worst experiences in his life, waking up on a deserted island not remembering anything but useless facts and thinking he was from another planet would definitely be number one. Of course, he wouldn’t know if he did have such a list seeing as how he had no memories.
Alex stood up, grunting, surprised at his own voice for a moment, realizing he was on the shore of a small beach. He was dressed in a simple blue shirt and a pair of blue jeans. Judging by the fact a long Levi’s sticker was still attached to the front of his right leg, the clothes must have been brand new. Alex quickly surveyed his surroundings in a surprisingly calm manner; seeing that not far away from his island there was a large flat plain, and other than that, he was completely surrounded by the ocean.
Alex’s amnesia was so bad he couldn’t even remember any of my own physical features. He ended up needing to pluck out a hair (which resulted in a wad of hair, probably due to stress) just to figure his hair color, which was apparently blonde. As for his eyes and the shape of his face, he had no clue. He could guess, though, that he was probably around the age of 16 or 17. To him, not being able to picture his own face felt just wrong.
From the fact he spoke fluent English and had pale, white skin, he knew he was American, at least. He also remembered his own name. He knew he had a family, and friends, but he could not picture a single one of them in his mind, nor could he recall any of their names.
“Maybe I’m dead, and this is heaven,” Alex said out loud, almost as if expecting a response.
The only response Alex received was the distant chirp of a bird. He felt completely alone and abandoned. For a while Alex simply sat on the cool, wet sand, listening to the distant animals and the crashing of the small waves. While calming, the loneliness in the unfamiliar area was also driving him crazy inside. He wanted to scream out at the top of his lungs, but knew that wouldn’t accomplish anything.
Instead Alex sat in the same spot, his legs outstretched, and his face lowered. He thought for hours without moving an inch. He tried to remember who he was and where he was from, but although it seemed like his memories were so close, he couldn’t recall anything.
Without noticing it Alex picked at the sand with his right hand, drawing lines and making simple shapes. He knew he was restless and always had to be fiddling with something or another, but he had no idea how he knew this. As he watched the sun set, he also realized he was afraid of the dark; yet another “useless” fact he could not explain. Little did he know that this knowledge would potentially save his life in the near future.
Frantic to find a light source, Alex ultimately ended up climbing up a large tree in the center of the small island where he felt safe. It took Alex a while to shift into a comfortable position. Judging by the fact he couldn’t fall asleep, he could tell he didn’t survive in trees before waking up on this island, despite his good climbing skills. Or maybe that was just because he was still so startled.
Nightfall wasn’t far by the time Alex got settled in. He tried to go to sleep, but failed. Alex wasn’t even sure why he was trying to survive in this world. It was possible that this was his home, and his family was nearby, but Alex had a feeling that was false. Wouldn’t it just be easier to just drown myself or something? Alex thought to himself.
Before Alex could even consider the idea, he heard a faint growling sound. He was sure it was his stomach. Due to shock, he hadn’t realized how hungry he was until now. The noise appeared again, and this time Alex knew it wasn’t his stomach. It was coming from below the tree. Before he knew it, he could hear hissing as well.
Alex closed his eyes shut, beads of sweat starting to form on his forehead. He clenched his teeth as he listened to the continued hissing and groaning coming from around the island. There was no doubt in his mind there was another life form accompanying him on the island now, and he was much too scared to look down to find out what exactly was there. If there was one thing Alex was certain of, it was the fact that whatever was below him was not friendly.
Alex remembered back to a night where he was huddled up on a couch, his eyes shut, and a blanket covering his body and face. He was only around the age of 10, and was stupid enough to agree to watch a horror movie with a few of his older friends the previous night. He was so terrified he couldn’t sleep.
Rather than being happy for being able to remember something, Alex was still scared out of his wits. The groans sounded like those of a zombie in one of those rated R horror movies. No matter how uncomfortable he was, Alex refused to move his body, and instead simply impatiently waited for the night to end.
[Honestly, I thought this one would come out a bit better, but I still just haven't been able to get "in the zone" with my writing, sorry! It should get a bit more interesting in chapter 2.]
Chapter 2
Have you ever stayed up so late you couldn’t remember if you had pulled an all-nighter or had actually dozed off? That’s exactly how Alex felt as he sloppily made his way down the tree, often stopping to grab his behind which was in extreme pain from spending the night sitting on a tree branch.
Alex had completely forgotten about the events of last night, and instead stood firmly on the dew-coated grass, his head up, and a slight smile on his face. He wasn’t sure why he was so happy all of a sudden, but he seemed completely refreshed. Either the small amount of sleep he may or may not have gotten had done wonders on his brain, or he was bipolar; neither seemed likely.
Alex walked forward a few meters until he was sanding on the shore of the beach again. He determined it was probably around 9 am from the positioning of the sun. For the first time Alex noticed how beautiful the ocean looked from up close, the reflection of the sun making it glisten.
“You seem pretty calm for someone that just nearly got eaten by monsters the other night,” said a female voice from behind Alex.
Alex was so frightened he jumped and let out a girlish scream. His first reaction was to turn around and crouch on the ground, protecting his face with both arms. Through the openings in his “guard” he saw that what stood before him was only a teenage girl, probably around his age. He loosened his arms slightly to get a better look.
The girl had black hair tied back in a ponytail. Like Alex, she wore a simple shirt and jeans. At her side was what appeared to be a short but sharp wooden sword, and on her back was a small leather bag. Her skin was tan, probably from being exposed to the sun, and her eyes were dark brown.
“Well how long are you going to keep starting at me?” asked the girl. From the grin on her face, it was obvious she was being playful.
“Oh. Um, Sorry. No, wait! Who are you! Please don’t eat me!” stuttered Alex, unsure of what he was saying.
The girl just laughed and walked up to Alex who was still on the ground.
“I… am… your worst nightmare!” whispered the girl as she leaned in front of Alex.
“No! Go away!” Alex yelled, petrified.
The girl just burst into laughter again and patted Alex on the back.
“I was just kidding, dude. You are obviously lost. Where are you from?” the girl said, standing back up.
A surge of relief filled Alex. He had no way to be sure the girl wasn’t an enemy, but she definitely didn’t sound or look like someone ready to eat his brains out. Alex stood up as well, and looked the girl in the eye. He noticed that she was actually kind of pretty.
“I-I don’t know where I’m from,” replied Alex who was now blushing. “What do you mean? You have amnesia?”
“Well yeah, sort of, I guess… I woke up here just yesterday. All I remember is my name, mostly,” Alex said, trying not to stammer.
“That’s it? Don’t you have a family?”
“That’s the thing. I do have a family, I am sure of it, but I can’t remember them at all. Not even any of my friends. The weirdest part—and I know this is going to sound crazy—is that I feel like I don’t belong here. Like on this planet.”
“So… you are telling me you are an alien who thinks they have a family, but cant remember their family, and is perfectly unharmed and dressed in brand new clothes.”
“I knew you’d think I’m crazy, but that’s the truth,” Alex sighed.
“Well, you certainly don’t seem like you’re crazy, though the fact that you think you’re an alien is a bit weird.”
“Would you please stop calling me an alien,” Alex groaned. “I’m just telling you what I remember. I really can’t remember who I am, and I am definitely not familiar with this area.”
“Well then I suppose I’ll have to give you the benefit of the doubt. I can’t just leave you out here to die. You’re coming with me.”
“With you? Where? And by me dying you don’t mean getting eaten by monsters by any chance, do you?”
“I’ll take you to my village, of course. And you really are clueless, aren’t you. Didn’t you see the monsters that came out last night while you were hiding in that tree?”
Alex was too embarrassed to tell her that he was too afraid to look.
“Well anyways, what’s your name?” the girl asked. “I’m Julia.”
“Alex. Alex Jones.” Alex replied.
“Oh?” Julia said, raising an eyebrow. “Last names are pretty rare around here. Are you sure that’s your name… you know, with your whole memory loss situation.”
“Yeah, I’m sure,” Alex said firmly, not completely certain himself how he could be so confident.
“Alright then Alex Jones,” said Julia. “Let’s get going, the journey to my place is pretty long, we want to get there before nighttime. I have a boat on the other side of the island.”
“Wait,” Alex replied as Julia started to walk away. “First, I have a question if you don’t mind.”
“What is it?” Julia asked, turning around.
“Well, ehm, I’m not sure how to put this, but how do I look?” Alex asked stupidly.
“Handsome,” Julia said with a grin as she started to continue walking.
“Oh no! I meant, what do I look like. You see, I kind of forgot that as well,” Alex tried to explain, scratching his head, and blushing.
“Sure, man. You totally couldn’t have just looked in the water. And by the way, I was completely joking earlier,” Julia laughed. “Come on, I’m risking my life to bring a complete stranger to my village; stop joking around and get in the boat!”
“After you stop teasing me,” muttered Alex as he made his way in Julia’s direction.
Chapter 3
It had been at least 3 hours since Alex and Julia had set off on boat. The boat itself looked like it had been hastily put together with wood, but seemed to be fairly sturdy. It was very small, leaving little room for Julia and Alex to move around. Julia seemed to be used to this, and stayed still as she rowed the ores, but Alex often wiggled around, trying to find a comfortable position, usually without success.
“This is taking forever! Why did you come so far out?” Alex exclaimed.
“The farther you explore, the more you are bound to find.” Julia said.
“Find what?”
“Well food and materials of course.”
“I see.”
Alex and Julia did not talk much. They silently took turns rowing the ores, and in doing so Alex realized that he was pretty strong. Even so, he felt tiny looking at the vast ocean that surrounded him, and weak compared to the large mass of water that made him tired from rowing for even a short while.
Alex was constantly afraid that the two would get lost, but Julia was confident with her navigating skills, especially with the compass she had taken out of her bag before departure.
“It’s starting to get cold,” said Alex.
“Yeah, it’s getting windy, and the sun is starting to fall,” Julia replied. “We should get there soon though, I recognize this area.”
“Then it’s a good thing you met me and turned back, or you may have gone even farther away from your home. Then you wouldn’t have made it back in time for sure,” Alex chuckled.
“I suppose, but in that case I would have just set up a small camp.”
“But what about the monsters?”
“Most are quite dumb actually; if they can’t see you, they can’t get you. And you probably already know that they can’t climb trees or anything of the sort.”
“Well, then, I can now say a tree saved my life from monsters,” Alex laughed.
“That’s true, but you got lucky. You have to be wary of the skeletons. Their aim isn’t too great, but with a lucky shot you could have easily been knocked out of that tree, or even killed,” warned Julia.
“Skeletons? You mean like a human skeleton?”
“Yeah… you really don’t remember anything about them? It almost feels like I’m talking to a 5 year old,” Julia giggled.
“I’m a 5 year old?” said Alex, raising an eyebrow.
“No it’s not that… you’re just so… clueless,” Julia replied, still laughing.
“Gee thanks, that makes me feel a lot better,” Alex sighed.
“Just speaking the truth,” Julia shrugged. “But we will need to ‘educate’ you once we reach my village.”
“Alright, but I feel kind of bad just barging into your village and letting you take care of me. I mean, I have no money or anything.”
“That’s just fine,” Julia said in an almost creepy tone that should have worried Alex who wasn’t paying much attention.
“Thanks Julia, I owe you big time for this.”
“Don’t mention it, it’s our duty to help out people with amnesia that are stranded on islands and hiding from monsters in trees, you know?” smiled Julia. “Oh, look. We have arrived.”
The boat neared a small sandy gulf. As Alex and Julia got closer, Alex could make out wooden docks extending from the land. There were only a few ships docked, and most of them were larger than Julia’s small boat. Past the beach formed a large mountain, probably hiding the village behind it. Alex could make out a narrow path leading from the docks up the left side of the mountain.
“Get ready to get out,” Julia said, as they neared the left-most dock.
“Finally, my legs are killing me,” Alex replied, relieved the journey was over.
Julia easily tied the boat to the dock using a rope, and leaped out. Alex, followed behind her, slightly afraid the boat would move and he would fall into the water. Luckily he managed to land safely, his legs wobbling as he tried to get used to standing on solid land again.
“Here we are,” declared Julia.
“And look at that, the sun is just starting to set,” Alex replied, pointing to the horizon.
“Then let’s hurry, it’s still a bit of a walk,” said Julia, already starting to march up the dirt path leading up and around the side of the mountain.
“Oh my aching legs!” groaned Alex, sarcastically.
“Don’t be such a wuss.”
“Ouch, I was just kidding,” muttered Alex as he went to catch up with Julia.
Alex stared at the mountain in awe, nearly tripping over the occasional twig or rock. It was so tall Alex couldn’t even make out the top, which rose above the clouds. To the left of him there were also small hills, and even a few small farms. To the right of Alex there was just a small portion of flat land, and then the ocean. He wouldn’t mind spending his life in such a beautiful place. Yellow and red flowers were scattered everywhere, and the grass that coated the area was a rich green color.
The walk wasn’t very long, and before Alex knew it, he was standing at the end of the dirt path. There, directly in front of him, on a small plain was what he guessed to be the village. It was surrounded in wooden walls and fences, and seemed to be very small. As they approached the front gates, they met two guards armed with swords that seemed to be made out of sharpened stone, and wooden hilts similar to Julia’s.
“Just wait here while I go talk to the guards,” instructed Julia.
“Alright… and you’re sure it’s okay for me--,”
“Yes, it’s fine,” Julia cut off. “Just wait here.”
Julia exchanged a few words with the guards, and then gestured for Alex to come. The gates slowly opened, but the guards kept a close eye on Alex as he passed through.
“Finally, home sweet home!” shouted Julia as they faced a variety of small wooden houses, all connected by a simple cobblestone road.
“Thank god…” Alex managed to say before collapsing onto his back, his arms and legs outstretched.
[Sorry guys, I said the story would start to get more interesting, but I just realized it'll take a few chapters to reach the conflict, seeing as how short my chapters are compared to real novels. I'm getting there ]
Chapter 4
Alex woke up, unsure of where he was. Still half-asleep, Alex attempted to stand up, but he could not. His arms and legs would not move. It didn’t take him long to realize that his wrists and his legs were tied together with thick rope, and he was sitting in a dark alleyway. Frightened, Alex tried to scream, but all that came out was a muffled groan. A cloth had been tied over Alex’s mouth and around his head.
The air had an unpleasant smell, and the ground Alex sat on was covered in garbage. He squirmed around in an attempt to break free, but only hurt himself further with the ropes that bruised his wrists.
“That’s him,” said a familiar voice from behind Alex. “It looks like he’s awake.”
Alex turned around, his eyes widening. Outside the alleyway stood a large man, and next to him, Julia. The man was wearing a black suit and matching shoes. He had a circular, almost chubby face, and tanned skin similar to Julia’s. He had brown hair that was neatly combed, making him seem very professional.
“Mmmm!” yelled Alex, shaking his head vigorously in an attempt to remove the piece of white cloth from his mouth.
Julia stepped forward and looked Alex directly in the eyes, still keeping a good amount of distance.
“Sorry, Alex. I don’t really have a choice. You’re going to be working for this guy now… as a slave.”
First he had woken up on a deserted island without any memories. Then he had nearly gotten eaten by monsters. And now he is being sold like a slave by a person he trusted with his life. Alex was having a pretty miserable week.
As Julia started to walk away, Alex started to cry. He watched as she collected a wad of cash from the man in the suit, and then left.
No, no, no, no, this can’t be happening! Alex thought to himself. He couldn’t tell whether he was angry, sad, or just frightened. All of a sudden, Alex heard another voice from outside.
“Hey, what’s going on over there?” asked a calm voice.
At first Alex was afraid it was a friend of the man in the suit, but the startled look on his face told him otherwise.
“Oh? What is this?” the mysterious figure said as he walked closer. “Are you in trouble, kid?”
Alex nodded his head stupidly as he attempted to crawl away. The man was wearing shaggy grey robes, and a hood covered his pale face. He seemed to be in his late 40’s, and his beard was a mixture of black and grey.
The man removed what seemed to be a massive wooden bow off of his shoulders and knocked an arrow onto the string in less than a second. He pointed towards the suited man who was, by this point, cowering in fear.
“Run, or I’ll shoot,” the figure said, a fierce look in his eyes. Something told Alex he wasn’t joking.
It wasn’t long at all before the suited man was up and running. He tripped once, pathetically, but got up and kept going without looking back. Everything had happed so quickly Alex didn’t know what to think. Just a few seconds ago he was about to be turned into some kind of slave, and now he was staring at a scary looking guy with a bow he didn’t even think he had the strength to draw if he wanted to.
The man dropped the bow, took out a small wooden knife, and started to saw at Alex’s ropes after taking off the cloth covering his mouth. It took a few minutes before he was done, as the knife seemed to be dull.
“W-Who are you?” stuttered Alex, obviously frightened.
“Same as always… I save the kid in trouble and they don’t even thank me,” muttered the man.
“Oh, um, sorry. Thanks, I guess,” Alex said, flustered.
“Now that’s better, boy!” he exclaimed. “I don’t do this kind of thing often, so you’d better be thankful. I’d better be off now, It’s getting late. You too kid, go home.”
“Wait!” Alex cried before the man could even move.
“What is it?” the man sighed.
“I woke up on an island near here and a girl from this town found me and took me here and I don’t know—“
“Whoa there, kid, slow down. I don’t know what you’re trying to tell me, but I cut your ropes; you’re free. Just go home already. I have things to do.”
“That’s the problem,” Alex said, taking a deep breath. “I don’t have a home.”
“What do you mean?”
“I know this sounds crazy, but I woke up on some random island with amnesia. I don’t remember a thing. A girl led me here and sold me to the guy you just… well… scared off.”
“Slave trading… I didn’t know that was still going on,” said the man, stroking his beard, no note of surprise in his voice. “They probably just hit you on the head too hard, if you honestly can’t remember anything.”
Alex wanted to explain he really had amnesia, and they didn’t hurt him at all, but the cloaked man interrupted him.
“Well, if it means I can leave this smelly place, just come and spend the night at my house. I’m sure you will have your memories back by tomorrow.”
“You aren’t going to trick me like that girl did, are you?” Alex asked, slightly scared of the cloaked figure.
The man sighed.
“You have two choices. One, come with me and not get eaten by monsters, or two, stay here and get eaten by monsters.”
“Alright, I’ll come,” Alex quickly replied, definitely in no mood to face off an army of bloodthirsty zombies in the dark.
“And?” the man asked.
“Oh, right… Thanks. I really appreciate it.”
“Better.”

Great Story. If only I could write mine like that. Anyway I am here to inform you about a great opportunity. The Story List is trying to compile good minecraft stories, novels, poems, and other creative writing. I think it would be good for you to go there and fill out the form for the leader of the thread. It can hopefully give you the views that you deserve. I mean this deserves more than 168 views. I hope to see you on that list.
In case you didn't get my feelings for the book, THIS WAS AMAZINGLY AWESOME. Look, Steve is crying due to its greatness.

Do you really think so? I mean, in any case, I only have 3 chapters out so far, but thanks! I really appreciate it, and I will apply for the Story List now!
Oh, and to any other possible "fans", I apologize for not publishing anything for the past few days. I have been really busy lately, but I will come out with at least chapter 4 by tomorrow!
Just letting you know that you were added to the list. And giving you a bump.
Also, I trusted that B**ch with Alex's life, and she betrayed it. I thought she would go on to great things, but she was a slave trader. How could she? That man should have killed her.

Lol thanks, and sorry about that. I keep changing my mind about the story, and it isn't going too great so far to be honest. Also, I won't be posting much until after my finals are over, but don't think I've halted development!

I'm getting there
Alex woke up, unsure of where he was.
“Better.”
Stay tuned for Chapter 1 (Will be out in a few hours max :))

In case you didn't get my feelings for the book, THIS WAS AMAZINGLY AWESOME.
Book series (Fanfic) of adventure in the land of Civcraftia
Do you really think so? I mean, in any case, I only have 3 chapters out so far, but thanks! I really appreciate it, and I will apply for the Story List now!
Oh, and to any other possible "fans", I apologize for not publishing anything for the past few days. I have been really busy lately, but I will come out with at least chapter 4 by tomorrow!
