Author's Notes: This is a fanfiction that is currently in development. I got the idea and inspiration to write this from CaptainSparkles "Fallen Kingdom", so you will see something along the lines of that near the end of this. This is version 2.0 of this. I had originally started this a long time ago, but I was dissatisfied with it. So now that that is out of the way, please, hopefully, enjoy reading this.
Steve: The Legendary Adventure
Part One
Chapter One: The Gods’ War
Notch had created and ruled the world for a long time. He had allowed it to prosper. He was the ruler of all gods. His word was law not only in the land he created for humans, but it was law for the gods as well. Notch had ordered them to help humans live a better life. They had made the world contain all that was needed for life and technology. He had created a world where humans had nothing to fight. No creatures that threatened them. But that didn't stop them.
Humans were made after the gods. Therefore they had the same flaws. Some humans were power hungry and full of greed. This caused fighting in Notch’s “perfect” world. People with common interests joined to create cities and empires. Many empires rose in all areas of the world. The empires did not co exist. There were wars. People on all sides of all conflicts died. When one empire died, another one took its place. Notch was worried. What if his creation killed itself? He then formulated an idea.
He got a god named Dock to create four perfect people. He gave a message to the people of the world. These four people shall be called “The Heroes” and they shall rule an empire that will cover the world. Religious supporters, slaves, people who disagreed wit the other empires and people who believed in Notch’s word joined them. They created an empire that would soon begin to dominate the world.
Of course the other empires refused this. They made an unofficial pact. They would work together to defend their land. A war started. The Heroes attack the other great and lesser empires. Most fell. When defeated, the Heroes’ empire would gain land, resources, and man power to defeat the others. It was not long until they dominated the world. Resistance was still present, but it was swiftly dealt with when noticed.
One god realized the biggest problem with the empire. Those captured from other empires were made slaves unless they gave complete allegiance to the new empire. This caused not only them to be angry, but all those who opposed slavery too. The Heroes were also tyrannical people, severely punishing people with only minor transgressions of the law. Only one god in the whole bunch noticed it.
Notch’s brother, Herobrine. No human knew about him. He had seen flaws in humans and had not helped them during their creation. He was pardoned by Notch, something he would have done with none of the others, but no humans were to know about him. Now looking at the humans being made slaves by the Heroes, he asked Notch to relinquish power from the Heroes or have the humans rebel from the Heroes.
“Humans need some kind of leader to go against the corruption of the so called “Heroes”. Herobbrine had said. He showed Notch the cruelty of the Heroes. Notch thought that this was a trick. He thought Herobrine was trying to make humans independent from the gods.
“How dare you even think that humans should look up to anyone but us? We created them. We deserve their loyalty. They must submit to the Heroes.” Notch had yelled.
“That is not what I meant.” Herobrine had quickly added. “I just meant...”
“No.” Notch interrupted. “I know what you meant. You think we should give them the complete control over their lives. This world belongs to the gods.”
“Then let me create a newt world alone.” Herobrine said.
“I forbid it. You are to never even think about that. Or you shall be punished.”
Herobrine would not let this stop him. He created two worlds that were perfect based on his beliefs. Notch found out and put a stop to it. As a punishment, Notch took the eyes of Herobrine. He left Herobrine with two, blank, white holes in his face.
Herobrine stayed like that for years. After one hundred years, he finally broke. He gathered a few of the gods less loyal to Notch. Dock, Hideous, and Liu were the only ones who joined him.
They made their plans. Attack the tower of Notch’s power, the Tower of Mojang, and use its powers to imprison Notch. Liu, Hideous, and Herobrine were to attack the tower. Dock was to use his creations against Notch long enough to make sure the others succeeded
Dock had created the four most powerful humans. The Heroes, Rana, Steve, Black Steve, and Beastboy. Dock asked Notch to call them to the home of the gods, the Aether.
Notch had brought them forth. Dock then ordered them to attack. A battle ensued. The gods fought back the humans and killed them. Notch was able to grab hold of Dock. Notch drained all power from him and pushed him into Earth. He was completely striped of his appearance, and he lost all his memory. He would be lost on Earth forever.
But the attack was a success. Using the few minute of time, the others got to the tower. Herobrine was able to get inside and take control of the tower. He used it to drain all of the power of the other gods into him. Notch would have to be inside for him to take his power.
Notch, sensing what was happening, ran to the tower. Liu and Hideous tried to attack him. In a simple move, he was able to do the same thing to them that he did to Dock. He rushed into the tower.
Herobrine was waiting for him. “Hello brother.”
“Herobrine, you must stop.”
“No.” Herobrine replied. “I have been planning my revenge for one hundred years. Ever since you destroyed my worlds.”
“But they were evil.”
“Perhaps to you. The creatures I made were perfect.”
“Monsters.” Notch yelled as a correction.
“Oh well. Call them what you want. I am happy you are here.”
“I will not let you win. I shall let you keep your memory when I send you to Earth.” Notch said. “You shall walk the Earth saying you are my brother and no one will believe you.”
“ I've been planning more than you give me credit for. We are in the source of our power. I have taken the power of everyone.” Herobrine informs. “I can now absorb yours.” Herobrine shouts. He waves his hands. Lights begin to shoot out at Notch. They hit him in the chest. Notch felt his powers growing weaker. It was then that he had an idea.
Using the last bit of his power, he created a weapon. A weapon that could destroy Herobrine. A child. That child would not be born for a few more days. He changed the boy so that when he grew up, he would look like Herobrine. He would possess great strength and a natural talent for leadership. And Notch changed one moment of the future. One event that Herobrine would have no control over. That one moment would be Herobrine’s undoing. And Herobrine would never know.
Herobrine took the last ounce of power Notch had left. He locked all the gods up in a section of the Aether Castle. He locked them in a prison. It would be impossible to open. Only someone with the powers of Notch could open it.
Herobrine then started to prepare his invasion of Earth. He began to create monsters .He decided what would be the best way to win a war against humans. Fear, he decided, would be a powerful weapon, so he created creatures that would strike fear into even the bravest of humans. He thought nobody could stop him. He was wrong.
Chapter 2: Steve
A baby boy was born two days after Notch’s defeat. No one knew of this defeat though. They had no way of truly seeing into the Aether. The only time that humans could even see the Aether was after death. They did know of the death of the four Heroes. They did not know that the Heroes had tried to kill Notch.
The mother of the child named him after one of the Heroes. It was mandatory for the leaders of cites, towns, and villages to name their first child after the hero they resemble most. Everyone assumed that it would remind people that the Heroes were supreme. All leaders of towns and villages, as a result, were named Steve, Black Steve, Beastboy, or Rana. Although Beastboy was a name that only occurred once when Beastboy had been the Father. The boy who was born was given the name Steve.
It was a small village he was born in. The village was located in the middle of the Siepkris Mountains. The town was located inside the circle the mountains formed. The circle formed was several hundred miles wide. At the base of the mountains were four large cities, built so they were ninety degrees from one another. Many towns filled the land close to the cities. In the middle of the valley were villages. They were the places that kept the cities working.
The villages would fish, cut down and plant back woods, farm, and tend to animals. They would send some of what they got to the towns. They would process the goods to more expensive things. They would take what they needed and sent the rest to the cities. The cities would use up the things given. In turn, they sent guards and small caravans to the villages and towns. It worked well, and no one ever complained.
Steve grew up in the village that specialized in growing animals. His parents were the leaders of that village. This was able to get him into a school. In the villages, most children were taught whatever their parents knew. But being the children of the leader, he got to go to school. They lived about five miles from the nearest town. When he was young he was taught how to ride a horse.
When he learned how to ride, he would ride to the town and to the town and go to school. He excelled at his learning. He showed great knowledge and an ability to retain what he learned. When the class took a break to run or show strength, he was always near the top.
But because he was from a village, the other children treated him as if he was inferior. He was also treated differently than the kids in his village. He grew up alone. His life stayed the same until he was nineteen. It was than that his life changed.
He was about to go to the town when a large wagon came to the village. It was followed by dozens of men both on foot and horses. They all had damaged armor and iron swords. Sweat and blood covered the people. A balding man pulled forward and got off his horse. Beads of sweat were rolling down his head. “We need all able bodied men from this village. Terrible monsters are attacking Gaheris.” he announces. He has a rough voice, and speaks with great urgency.
People started to gather round the man. “Gaheris was hit three days ago, and we have lost hope of driving them out. We are going around the villages and towns in order to gain reinforcements.”
One of the older men from the village began to ask questions. “What kind of monsters?” he shouted out.
“Dead.” The soldier said.
“What in the world does that mean? You killed them? What are we for?” he shouted back. Others started to join in. The crowd becomes louder, angry that they would be involved with something that sounded like a waste of time. Did they expect them to clear dead monsters out of the city?
“Silence” the man shouts. The crowd silences instantly. His voice is loud and full of authority. “The monsters are the dead. Loved ones, thieves, poor people, rich people, it doesn't matter. They get out of their graves and attack the living. The people they kill get up and kill.” The whole village stares at the group of soldiers. The thought of the dead returning is a frightening thought.
The soldier begins to give out commands. “We need all able bodied people to step forward. You will be provided with basic armor and weapons. We will let our men and horses rest for an hour while you train. We need to make sure you know what you are doing.”
No one steps forward. “The leaders of the city order you to help. They have protected you and have helped you prosper. You must do the same.” The soldiers say. Still no one moves. Except Steve. He hops off his horse and walks to the soldiers. “Thank you.” said the leader. “This young man has a sense of honor and duty. Does anyone else?” the leader shouts to the crowd.
Steve saw others move forward, but he continued to the wagon. He was given a beat up set of leather armor, excluding a helmet, and a stone sword. He put the sword back, and he said would use an iron sword his grandfather had given him before he died. Steve left the wagon to get his horse and sit by his house. After half an hour, Steve decided to train with his sword. He practiced basic sword swings and lunges. After a few minutes, a man walked up to him. He seemed to be a few years older than Steve. He was one of the soldiers. His hair was a light blonde hair. He had dark brown eyes and his skin was tanned.
“Thanks. Without you, no one else may have joined. You helped us raise an army.” the soldier said.
Steve threw his sword down and walked to the soldier. “Brave? No. All I did was do something to get me out of get me out of here.” Steve said.
“Why out of here? Life seems better here than in Gaheris.”
“I don’t belong here. I doubt if I belong anywhere.” Steve says. He paused for a second, thinking about how to explain. “I am better than anyone I have ever met.”
“What makes you say that?” asked the soldier.
“I have always been stronger than everyone. Faster. Smarter. I once beat a circus strong man in a fight when they visited the village.”
“Well maybe you do belong as a soldier. Almost all other people stepped forward after you did.” He said. “They must look up to you”
“They just don’t want me to be braver than them too. They can’t stand for me to be better.” Steve said. “To bad for them.”
The soldier got up. “Well I’m sorry you’re so cynical. The name’s John by the way. You?”
“Steve.”
Chapter Three: Heroes
Steve got up and went to the captain of the soldiers. “Hey. How long until we leave, sir?” Steve asked.
The captain turned his head and looked at Steve. “Oh. About ten minutes. Thank you. For volunteering. It means a…” he stopped mid sentence. His face scrunched up. “Ow,” he muttered. Dah… do I know you?”
“No. Not besides when I volunteered a while ago.” Steve replies.
The captain stared into Steve’s eyes. Pain started to grow in the captain’s eyes. He quickly reached out his hand, and he slammed it onto Steve’s shoulder, as if he needed support.. Steve backed away in fear. The captain started to shake. He let out a scream.
“What is wrong?” Steve asked as the captain collapsed. Steve went forward and onto the ground by the captain.
My head” the captain screamed over and over. He put his hands over his face, shielding his eyes from everything.
“Here.” Steve yelled as he called over some people to help. “Keep him still. Try to calm him down. I’m getting some hot water and a towel for him.” Steve got up and ran toward his parent’s house. He grabbed a towel and a bucket of warm water. He ran outside and stopped in his tracks.
The captain was back up. With his sword pointed at a man in a black cloak. The other soldiers were standing behind the captain, all with swords drawn. Two of the soldiers were lying down near the cloaked man. The grass around them was red with blood. “Who are you?” the captain shouted at the man.
“You of all people should know me.” said the man.
“What do you mean?” the captain yelled.
“You once helped me. You helped me conquer the Aether. Notch was able to banish you, but I have found you. ” said the man. He had a soft and slow voice. The voice was a familiar one. In fact, Steve could have sworn it sounded like himself. “Your first memory,” the voice continued. “Even though you are an older man, was nineteen years ago correct?”
“How do you know.” The captain said, fear growing in his voice.
“Look into my eyes.” The man ordered. The captain stepped forward and the other man lifted his hood just enough for the captain to look. The captain backed up and fell to the ground. He let out screams and yells. He was begging for help. Then something strange happened. His face started to change. His eyes changed from a grayish blue to brown. His face got heavier. Hair started to grow from his bald head. He pushed himself up and his whole body began to change. He became thicker and taller. He grew around half a foot. When he stopped growing, he seemed like a new person.
He looked around and saw the man in the cloak again. He than fell to the ground and started to bow to him. “Oh master, thank you. Thank you for rescuing me from the human body and giving me my mind back.” He said. His voice was deeper now, but not as rough as before.
“No need to thank me. But this army is dangerous. It could hurt our plans. Summon the four and kill them.”
“Yes master.” He said and he turned and raised his hand. Lights jumped from his hand and landed in four places. First, a girl appeared. She had a green jacket on. She had red hair with two pony tails. On her head was a frog hat. It was Rana.
Next, a man appeared. He had purple shoes and a shirt, but green pants and gloves. He had light green skin and dark green hair, His eyes, instead of being like humans, were just dark green rectangles. It was Beast Boy.
Finally, the last two lights take form. Both of them are men and they wear jumpsuits. One has a red and green jumpsuit. He has black skin and grey hair. It is Black Steve.
The second has a blue and orange suit. He has white skin and brown hair. His dark brown eyes scan the area. He is the man in which Steve was named after. It was Dock’s Steve.
“I feel an introduction is in order. Everyone, this is Dock. The new god of men.” the man in the cloaks says. “Do you have anything special you would like to say Dock.”
“Yes. My first order,” Dock says. “Is for the four Heroes to kill all these soldiers.” Before anyone could react, Dock’s Steve grabbed two men and threw them over the houses. The men crashed though the window. Everyone who had weapons charged for the Heroes. Others scrambled back trying to grab something to defend themselves with.
The battle looked hopeful. Dock’s Steve fought and killed many of the soldiers, but two of the managed to stab him. It seemed as if he would be killed. But Rana quickly killed the two who had got Steve. The battle continued with the humans dying quickly to the might of the Heroes.
The human Steve charged into the battle. He pushed Beast Boy out of the fight. With Beast Boy on the ground, Steve raised his sword and sent it down to Beast Boy’s face. Beast Boy turned, but the sword managed to destroy his nose.
Beast Boy grabbed Steve’s sword. He tore it out of Steve’s hand and threw it away. He hopped up and grabbed Steve. Steve fought back as well as he could. Steve pushed Beast Boy back and climbed onto him. He maneuvered onto his back and pulled out a knife. He plunged it into Beast Boy’s neck.
Beast Boy roared in pain. He threw Steve off his back. Steve landed with a thud next to his sword. Steve quickly grabbed it and ran it through Beast Boy, who ell to the ground. Steve quickly ran to his horse and began to turn away. He looked back to see a horrible sight.
Chapter 4: Monsters
All of the soldiers were dead. But they weren't They were all standing, covered in blood and dirt, surrounding the remaining villagers. They all were a pale green color. Some of them were in good condition, but a few of them seemed to be impossibly alive. One was missing an arm. A few had holes in their bodies were a sword was plunged. One even had bite marks on his face.
The cloaked man looked at Steve, who quickly turned his gaze to the ground. “Who is the mayor of this village?” The man said. Steve’s parents stood. They looked at Steve.
“Run Ste…” his father started to yell. He stopped. He gasped for air and looked at the ground. A black sword was through his stomach. He had been stabbed by the cloaked man. The cloaked man then did the same to Steve’s mother. Steve looked up. Everyone turned to him.
Dock stared at Steve, his face full of shock. Dock looked at the man in the cloak and back at Steve in disbelief. Steve took this moment to leave. He ran toward his horse and jumped on. He made his horse run as fast as possible.
His horse ran for an hour before it finally stopped. Steve got off the horse and examined his situation. Everything he had ever cared for was dead. Gods were coming down to Earth and the Heroes had returned. And the strangest thing was Dock’s face when he saw Steve. He seemed surprised, maybe even scared. That made Steve recall something else. Dock, when he had been the captain, had gotten the head pain when he had seen him. When he had gotten a close look at his face.
Steve decided not to think of this. He needed to get out of here. He looked around at his surroundings. He was in a small clearing of a forest. There were trees to the north, south, and west. To the west was a small lake. Water. To the east was a group of hills. The hills had a small cave. Shelter. All that left was food. Steve knew that while he might not have the amount of food he would like, he could go around a month without food. He led his horse to the lake. He bent down and took a drink of the water. He left his horse and went to check out the cave.
The cave was dark. He slowly stepped forward, straining his eyes to see only feet in front of him. He kept walking until he felt a pinch on his back. Swiping at his back, he grabbed a small spider. He quickly squished it and started to leave the cave. Before he left, he looked down and saw a body. It was old and had decayed to just a skeleton. He continued on to the entrance. He picked up a piece of flint he saw in some gravel and left the cave.
He went to a tree and began to rip some branches off. He took two branches and the flint and began to make a small fire. After several failures, he managed to make a small fire. Taking a new branch, he lit the branch and made a small torch. He walked back into the cave. With a fire illuminating the cave, he could see more details. Like most caves in the land, it had ores in it. Iron for tools and coal for cooking and more reliable torches.
When he got back to the area he was originally at, he froze in place. There was a spider web. But it wasn’t an ordinary web. It was bigger than any web Steve could imagine. And so was the spider that was on it. The spider leaped off the web and landed on Steve. The torch flew out of Steve’s hand and into the web. The web burst into flames. The torch fell against the wall. The spider was large and black. It was covered in large hairs. It had many red eyes on its face. Its fangs were attempting to plunge into Steve’s face, where he had no armor to protect him.
Steve was using all of his strength to get the spider off of him. His hands were firmly grasping the spider’s two front arms and he was kicking at the back legs of the spider. He threw the arms back and quickly took his sword out. The spider’s legs came crashing down onto Steve, but luckily his armor protected him from the attack. He used his sword to cut off a leg of the spider. It lost its balance and fell onto Steve.
Steve slid his sword away and tried to lift the spider off of him. Using all of his strength, he flipped the beast onto its back. He reached for his sword and plunged it into the spider. It let out a loud hiss and died. Steve stood over the body. He turned away and saw that his problems were not over. A bone was flying through the air and hit Steve in the arm. The bone had been sharpened to create a large spike.
Steve pulled it out of his arm and threw it to the floor. He looked at his shoulder. The wound wasn't too bad. He could deal with it later. He grabbed his sword and backed around a corner. As he poked his head out, he saw a skeleton throw another bone at him. Steve turned and ran toward the cave entrance. He made it and turned around to make sure he wasn't being followed. He stared in curiosity. Something was walking toward him. It had four legs and one large body. It had no arms, and it was green. It was frowning, as if it was sad about something. Steve took one step forward and found out it was a mistake. A long SSSSSS sound followed, and Steve was thrown out of the cave. He landed on the ground with a thud and was knocked out by a falling rock.
I posted the rest of chapter 4. Also I learned how to count. 5 comes after 4, not 6. I had accidentally put chapter 6 after 4. Learn from my stupidity.
Edit: This was an earlier, and in my opinion, worse draft of this story. Please ignore this comment.
Chapter 5 is out. I really want to get both of my stories done now, so I will be posting more frequently. I am hoping to post another chapter or two today, but for now I am done.
Hey guys, I have an update on what is going to happen with this. I re read it. I hated it. I am going to re write it. It will have the same plot and maybe some of the same characters. I feel I rushed through some parts. Soon, I will retype some parts and change it. I hope it will be better.
PS. Sorry for not be active recently. One of my family members has had surgery so I have had to help him a lot. I will try to write as much as possible.
