So I guess you're above the "fledgling point", right?
I dunno. I've been able to write anything that comes to mind for a long time... I've noticed that my writing has improved over the years... Though I could do with learning things from my past self. There's things I had right then that I don't now, on occasion.
What is the "fledgling point"? Do authors ever pass it? And if so, when? And how do they do it?
What is the "fledgling point"?
I see the "fledgling point" as the point beyond where an author can find a space of infinite possibilities of things to write. Any combination of any writable idea, substance, thought, or ideal can be written well by an author beyond the "fledgling point".
Do authors ever pass the "fledgling point"?
I think so. However, an author cannot determine when they are past the "fledgling point" for themselves. They must seek out other authors to see if they are past it, and in doing so, the authors will inevitably build each other up. If enough authors gather together, they will pass the "fledgling point" together, and the authors of that group will have viable reason to determine that they are beyond it.
When do authors pass the "fledgling point"?
I believe that an author has passed the "fledgling point" when they are able to look at something they write and say, "Well, this needs to be fixed, and that needs to be better..."
How does an author pass the "fledgling point"?
To pass the "fledgling point", I think that an author must first be able to look back on previous writings of their own and think, "Well that sucked..." If an author can recognize that some of their previous work was not very good, then they are on the path to "Writer's Enlightenment", and well past the "fledgling point."

Hi again, guys! Just popping in once more to announce another Cubic Fire chapter. It's a kinda short one, but what do you expect from a chapter where you've got nothing to do but walk in a straight line? Sorry, Kurt!
But yeah, there's also some goodies I can't mention. So it's good.
EDIT: Whoop, back again! Guess what I decided to do? Hehe, chapter 17 ahoy!
So, I had this idea, and I want your opinion on it...
I have three "worlds" that I majorly write for, currently. There's Minecraft, the brony fandom (no hate, please), and my own original dragons. If I were to make a fan fiction crossing all three of those worlds and combining them in one epic adventure, would it be wise to post it on this forum? It would contain plenty of Minecraft, but also equal amounts of brony and not-blocky dragon. What do you all think?
Now, this would obviously happen at some distant point in the future, as I would need to finish all three general storylines in order to do this and not confuse people. Just a sort of "what if" scenario, for if I remember when I do get done.

I am currently tackling a fic concerning Minecraft toppling down a dystopian force that rules the world at the near future which is greatly affected by the Minecraft Server's epic past, while the Server itself has become a virtual reality simulation, only with Minecraft (feel pain, etc.).
I'm pretty sure I can relate to what you wanna do.
Now, if you post it on the Minecraft Forums, I'm thinking of making it chapter-divided as in, make each chapter focused on a single aspect of the three worlds. For example:
Chapter One: Rocky Roads
Chapter Two: Cloud Cover
Chapter Three: In Melting Fire
Chapter One is Minecraft, Two is pony, Three is for dragons.
Alternatively, you can just put a parenthesis and tell what type of chapter it is. This way the people of Minecraft can enjoy your fic without wondering whether the next fic is a pony wonderland or a dragon slaughter. Otherwise, you could make a book out of it and get yummy cash.
And if you can, I suggest fimfiction.net to be the site if your ponies are the main characters and such.

I'm also a brony, so yeah.
I'm planning on posting it on FimFiction as well, after I do the one concerning the character that participates on behalf of the bronies. (All three main protagonists are named Tyron. I'm totally original with names...)
Again, highly questionable situation, as I'm not even finished with Cubic Fire yet, which is only a third of the idea in question. Was just wondering if anyone would attempt to murder me for putting a fan fiction up here that's only 1/3 Minecraft, heheh.
If anything, the first three chapters will be separated into their respective worlds, so I'd just mix the first ones around (as they work independently of each other) to make the various fanbases happy. I'll also be sure to include what may be a horrifyingly long disclaimer. =P
And of course, just because ponies, does not mean "cuddly, cute, and without violence of any sort." Think Immortal Game.
I am pretty sure they are all minecraft fan-fics, or at least minecraft related. I have read most of them, and some are purely minecraft based (cubic landscape, computers, etc.), others have elements of minecraft in a 'real' world (fantasy style, or modern style,) and others are stories that are alternative universe minecraft.
Thing about minecraft is that it has no predetermined plot or story line. So one can write pretty much any fantasy/sci-fi story and stick minecraft references in it to make a fan-fic. For example, Embercraft is about a guy getting shipwrecked. If not for the minecraft references, it could be a regular short story about a guy getting shipwrecked. Which is the reason I love minecraft fan-fiction so much.
I'd assume all of the ones on this list are Minecraft fan fictions, yes. You'll be better off hearing it from Farteh, though.
Immortus and Dragon have probably summed it all up real nice and math-like.
Minecraft is a sandbox game, and has large modding potential and an already titanic base of texture packs, maps, mods and similarly, fics.
What is "Minecraft-based" can be a heavily broad topic. Often it deals with construction and a blocky landscape. Some might add some magic and fantasy/sci fi elements to it. I'll leave interpretation of what is "Minecraft" to the readers. A game that is orbited by thousands of player-made content, among those are works of fiction that based themselves off Minecraft, and will have a good chance that the author will post it in the Literature section
Okay people, get excited for this Monday! (36 hours from now) Please be cautioned when reading my next update: it made me paranoid that a zombie would sneak up on me during the DAYTIME. ...and I'm not easily scared. I don't mean that to boast, I mean that to make a point: I highly suggest that if you get nightmares from extreme zombie things/end-of-the-world type scenes, that you don't read chapter 14. Well, there, I said it. Don't say I didn't warn you! But yeah, 36 hours!
I'm back with another chapter... but wait, I missed chapter 14? Oh no, I didn't. I just added another chapter after it so that people who get nightmares from scary zombie stories will have a chapter to read! Yup, two chapters!!
I read it, and it is added. Sorry for the delay, I was kinda wondering if the name was Untitled or it was untitled. Meh, not an excuse.
I apologize for having the lazy syndrome.
It's all right Thanks for adding my story in the list and if there is no problem, can you change the title to 'Pocket Chronic'? Untitled isn't good and I needed to change.

Author: sc1020
Description: Want the unexplained of Minecraft to be explained? Now's your chance! Join Dr. sc1020 as he investigates what makes Minecraft... well, Minecraft. From Endermen to Notch himself, he'll explain it all!
Status: In Progress
Note: This isn't part of my normal fanfiction series. This is something that started out as a favor for my friend peppertyce, but I decided to further expand it.
Title: The Book of the Nether
Author: WayofTime
Description: This book tells of the stories of several adventurers of the burning lands called the Nether. This story is set many years in the past, following an Explorer named Vladimir as he learns about the land that is closer than he ever dreamed possible. Full of centuries of misery, the Nether becomes known for being the most inhospitable land imaginable - and that isn't counting the lava. Think you know the Nether? Think again.
Status: In progress
This is not quite a full fanfiction: sure, it is based loosly off of Minecraft, and of the mod "NetherCraft," but it is written in such a way that you do not need extensive knowledge in the game to understand it. I am hoping to get this book published in the future, if that is any indication on how I feel about it!

One is informational, the other has length to keep a reader occupied and entertained. Gratz, both of ya are in.
PLEASE get the Minefic sign thing on your threads! You know how we go here: Sleep, eat, forget about Minefic 'till the last minute joke :P. Seriously though, if we can get writers on this page rather than devote an hour or two delving into the Literature section for people who might not even like Minefic and stuff, you'd know what will happen.
Anyway, water is wet, if you haven't heard. It was a pretty shocking revelation in my opinion.

Sure thing, it's added now. Hope it helps!
Perhaps there could be a user-based rating system for each of the books when you have the site back up (I heard you had a site before, correct?), so that may help to distinguish between the different readabilities of the books/fan fictions.
