I am dragontyron. You may or may not know me from the fanfic I'm writing called Cubic Fire. It's not exactly popular, and in all honest vanity I have no idea why. I've been going through the most epic brain fart of my life when it came to that, though, so I decided to take a break from snapping my brain over the current inception (books within books) and post something I just got done telling my friends about.
I'm setting up the story in two parts: one is the perspective I had had when I played through that day, and the other is my own little spin on what the enderman might have been like. You'll recognize his name if you've read the prologue to Cubic Fire.
dragontyron
I started up the game that morning completely determined on one goal: to finally get to and beat the enderdragon legit. Yeah, I had never done it before. It was just after 1.0.0 came out, so i was pretty eager anyways. I'm going to spare you the details of what I was doing, just because it's so repetitive. I mean, you've all gotten up to the nether before, right? Well, that's where I had gotten to. I hadn't gone through the portal yet; I was busy trying to kill enderman after enderman. They were no match for me. I just kept slaughtering them as well as I could. Then one night I encountered one, he was a little tougher, but I still killed him. He dropped his ender pearl, and I went home thinking nothing of it.
After this is when things started to get creepy....ish. I went out in the morning, and went to go to the tunnels I used to mine. Right in the exact spot i had killed the enderman the night before, there was a monument. I say monument because something was off about it. Sure, it was made of dirt, but I think that was one of the things that put me off. Because in 1.0.0, one of the only things endermen could still move was dirt. I decided to line it up and take a screenshot, just in case.
After that, things just got a little wacky, you could say. I saw no endermen for about four full minecraft days. Not even a dark silhouette in the distance. It was almost like not only did they build a grave"stone" for their lost comrade, they were also mourning his death. There had to be something special about that enderman. There had to be.
Another day passed. Then another. I spent the entire nights of minecraft searching as hard as I could for them. Nothing. I went out the next night, right as I was giving up hope, and there one was. Finally. I let out a sigh of relief that my game hadn't decided to strike back. I had no idea how wrong I was. It intended to strike back, and strike back it did. The enderman was smarter than any I had ever seen before. He had brought with him a skeleton, and I decided to go after that first, since the enderman had teleported away already. I start to get close... then all of a sudden, there was a hit on my back. I whirled the mouse around and saw only the fading particles of the enderman's teleportation. Damn, this one was good. I kept looking around for him, and an arrow hit my back. I nearly cursed out loud. I started heading after the skeleton again, only to be intercepted by the enderman, who struck another hit and vanished. This cycle of vicious blows kept going, until my armor had worn out and the enderman dealt the fatal hit. I swear it looked straight through the screen at me. I swear to god it did. I was lucky that the "respawn" button covered up his eyes. I was too stunned to take a screenshot of that battle. It happens.
More days came afterward that seemed to be enderman-less. I couldn't understand it. This was the sort of thing you saw only in Herobrine tales. My superstitious mind began to work its way, and I began to wonder if He was controlling these endermen? I've never seen anything like it. Ever.
Finally. The suspense was killing me. Though I didn't feel the gratitude for a long, long time. I was out night hunting, trying to make back some of my lost exp, and I had climbed up a tree for view. I looked around... then stopped. The enderman. Not just any enderman. THE enderman. Don't ask me how I knew. I just... knew. He was staring straight at me, with that same penetrating gaze he had given me when he killed me. He didn't move at all, either. I was out of his aggro range, but somehow it seemed like he already was aggro'd. Somehow it seemed like he knew. I took a screenshot and ran the hell back home.
He watched me. I went out every night in minecraft to hunt monsters, and that damned enderman was there every time. Every night I would see him and his staring eyes in the distance. I attempted to approach him, but I would be attacked by a monster and be forced to look away. When I looked back, he was always gone. I kept thinking, what the hell is going on!?
That does it. I have officially had the sh*t scared out of me. I decided to sleep one night instead of going monster hunting. That enderman was getting to me.
I woke up.
He was standing in the window.
Watching with that same exact gaze.
I was too terrified to take a screenshot, and exited the game.
I deleted the world after that.
the enderman
I could not believe it. The tales of yet another Player. His name happened to be dragontyron, the one feared throughout worlds. There was said to be no force to match him. I, The First, was determined to prove that wrong.
The first days I had tried my same old strategy. I sent my legions after him. It took some time for anyone to realize that he was not fazed by these attacks, however strong they were.
Later on, I sent my elites at him. The ones who came after me, and still survived. These efforts proved fruitless. We were about to lose hope, but one being decided to be brave and step up. This one being was the second One Of The End.
My son.
His tale is still told today with tears in our hearts. Even mine, as cold as it has become. He spawned in the world, commanding so much respect that every one of the lesser creatures knelt to him. He was unstoppable. He journeyed from the stronghold portal to the land being slowly corrupted by dragontyron, and began to work out his strategy.
At the peak of the night on the new moon, he struck at the Player in waves. Waves of zombies, skeletons, spiders, and even creepers. Dragontyron appeared unfazed. He stared back out cruelly at the corpses of our brothers, and held one of our hearts in the air for all to see. My son became enraged and attacked, letting his fury grant him even more speed and skill. He was able to land a few valiant strikes, ones which no doubt pained the Player, but he made one fatal move and a sword of gleaming malice ran him through. His eyes darkened, and he fell, leaving his noble heart in the greedy hands of dragontyron.
I vowed my revenge that night. I had watched my son die.
As soon as he was gone, more endermen of my will and bidding took pieces of the land, weak as we were then, and constructed a monument for the soul of my son. I was rather amused at how the Player reacted when he saw this, and I found that I could use this as an advantage.
He had felt fear, and I was determined to use it against him.
I came up with a wonderful plan, and I put it into action immediately. I ordered the retreat of all endermen in the overworld, and waited. While I waited, I trained myself for the battle ahead. It would not be an easy one. I picked my companion, a loyal skeleton servant, and we trained in the endless twilight of The End for what could have been the equivalent of several days.
Soon, we were ready.
Soon, we would have my son's vengance.
It happened one final night. I knew dragontyron was at his last wits. He would be tired. He would be careless. I let him trudge through the desert, battling other creatures, before I made my move. I spawned in with my skeleton companion and approached him. I gazed upon dragontyron with all the hatred of my race; with all the hatred of a father who has lost his son. I teleported away and let the skeleton begin to work, and the Player's tiredness proved to be his undoing. I got behind him, struck as hard as I could, and got away. He searched in vain for me before being hit by the skeleton again. I dealt each blow with so much anger it could have beaten through stone bricks. He lasted so long. Long enough for me to give him just a smidge of respect. When he finally collapsed under my hand, I stared straight at him. Straight through whatever glass and artificial soul he may have. It felt good. But my revenge did not stop there.
I had to rest for more days before I could go through with the rest of my plan. It didn't matter, for it served to my advantage and let his fear bubble inside him. He could hardly take more. His defeat had broken him.
I was finally able to get out again. I made my moves precise and deadly to his mind. Interesting how it worked so well. I simply stood a ways from him and stared, letting my hate boil through my eyes and into his. This kept going every night, for every night he had to come out to complete what impudent task he had to do. I kept staring. Staring straight through him.
One final night. One final morning. That was all it took. He was too tired to hunt that night, and he rested in his pathetic home like some bloated pig. I was determined to not let my abilities slip, determined to let him know I was always watching. I gazed through his window until he woke up.
He saw me.
His eyes went wide with terror.
And he simply disappeared, with everything he had created in the world.
I had won.

No, I was not. Thank you for the advice!
The story was awesome, by the way. It is very interesting how you told it from the Enderman and your point of view.

This is the first fanfic I've read that I really enjoyed. The player perspective was genuinely creepy and the enderman POV was very well imagined. Well done! +rep for you.
i have read all of your stories and they are the best minecraft stories I have ever read!
This has inspired me to write my own. It's in my signature, in case anyone wants to read it.
