Edit: changed the story title to fit with what im planning
Chapter 1: Running and more running
I was running fast. As quickly as I could run. My legs hurt my mouth was dry, and I could not breathe. However, I still ran and was going to keep running until I reach the castle. Behind me, all I could hear was the constant moaning and crackling of the hoard of monsters behind me.
I had been running for two hours now, if I stopped I would, but if I kept running I would find the castle. They will bring me in and fight off these monsters. I could not breathe at all now; it was utter hell. I could not think or move any other part of my body without wanting to scream in pain.
Then I saw it, at ten-story castle. I smiled with relief and ran even faster. I rounded a bend after that two, then three, and before I knew it, I was sprinting strait for the castle. Then I stopped, utter horror filling my body. There sitting in front of me was a 200 foot drop, I must have taken a wrong turn. I went to turn around and go back, but the moaning grew even louder and closer. I just fell to my knees and screamed; the monsters were closing in on me, so I took a run up and jumped off the cliff.
It was a stupid thing to do, but I had no choice. I would rather die screaming my lungs out and falling to my death, then at the hands of those beasts. I was ready to die, positioning myself, so I did not feel anything on impact. Then I saw something blue, something wet and realized it was water. I flapped my arms wildly trying to move to the position of the water. I saw a black spot and aimed for it, my mother constantly told me always avoid the black spots because there the deepest parts of the water, but right now I didn’t care how deep it was, al I cared about was surviving.
I positioned myself into a dive, and then I hit the water, hard. Pain erupted through my body as I hit the water. It felt like someone was pelting you with bricks, and that brick has knives sticking out of it, but I swam to shore making sure I did not run into any monsters while climbing to shore. I was on shore now.
I started running back to the castle, I jumped back as a monster fell in front of me, next another and then another. I looked up and saw all the monsters jumping off the cliff, I sighed with relief because they would all fall he river “****” I sprinted to the castle as monsters fell into the river and immediately got out and started chasing me.
I was running faster and faster trying to keep my distance. Sadly, the faster I ran, the faster they ran. I was almost at the walls. I could see the guards now. I screamed to them “HELP! MONSTERS!” they heard me and turned their mounted crossbows towards me then as they saw the monsters, they started to close the gate. “NO!” , I screamed and ran faster; the gate was lower than my chest now. In a couple of seconds, it would close, and I would die. I was so close to it, it was lower than my knees, so I dived under it. Narrowly missing the razor sharp metal.
Chapter 2: Dream nothing but dreams
I immediately got up, anger boiling inside of me.
“WHAT THE HELL WAS THAT” I screamed at the nearest guard
“Orders” the guard said
“What orders?” I said trying to keep calm.
“Not to let anyone in or out,” the guard said.
“****” I said, and then a thought came to mind
“Who gave those orders?” I already had an idea of who.
“King hennery” the guard, said
“Knew it,” I said silently
“What did you say?” the guard asked.
“Oh nothing” I said
With that, I walked away, anger still bubbling inside of me.
I walked to my apartment and lay down on the couch, ‘wow so close to death’ I thought.
My room was, interesting. It was small but cozy; it had a couch in the middle of the room, and a fireplace in front of it. To the left was a small kitchen. The kitchen was nothing special, just some wood that made a U shape, on the wood was a tap, but the tap was iron. To the rite was a hallway that led to the bathroom and my bedroom.
It was extremely cold and dark, so I went to go light the fire. I got some flint and steel, some wood and some coal. I chucked the wood on the fireplace, and then lit the fire; the fire crackled for a moment then started to die. I chucked three pieces of coal on the fire, and the fire immediately grew larger and larger. I then took the remaining coal, and placed them into some of the torches on the wall. I then took the flint and steal and lit the torches, the house was much warmer and brighter now.
I smiled, jumped onto the couch, and closed my eyes, and then my body embraced the dreams.
That night I dreamt I saw my town burning, people were lying dead all over the place and the king he was, lifeless. As I walked around the town, I saw something that horrified me even more than anything did in that dream, I saw, me but, not me, I was, I, looked, evil. I had black veins all over my body. My eyes were pitch black, and I was leading an army of monsters against the army of the city. Then as if I, no whatever was controlling me, noticed that, I was watching him. He turned to me and started to speak in a voice that was not human. It sounded like a thousand voices,
“YOU CANNOT STOP THIS!” He hissed
It scared me so much I wanted to scream, but I could not. Then he stretched out his hand towards me, and he squeezed. I was on my knees the pain was unbearable, then I fell to the floor, dead.
I woke up in a sweat, I got up too fast, and tripped over my own legs. I fell to the floor hard. When I got up, I put on a shirt and ran out to the city. It was still there, not a fire in sight; I sighed with relief and went out for a stroll.
I passed the castle on my stroll, and told myself “I will go there tomorrow, and I will give the king a piece of my mind.”
“Give who a piece of your mind?” a familiar voice asked.
I turned a smiled, as I saw my best friend Julie.
“JULIE!” I said with much delight.
“ADAM” she said
“How are you?” I asked
“Good. How are you?”
“Ok” I said
“Why just ok?” she asked.
“Had a run-in with a horde of monsters today” I said
“Did you survive?” she asked.
I sighed and looked up. I was grinning, and when I saw Julie, she was grinning wider.
We walked with each other for a while then, parted ways. I smiled and waved goodbye, then walked back home completely unaware of the shadow that was following him.
Chapter 3: Interesting Very interesting
“He knows” Scimbo said
“No he doesn’t, not yet a least” the black man said
“He’s having dreams,” Scimbo said
“What” the black man said obviously surprised.
“He’s having dreams about what will happen”
“I thought you blocked visions like that from his head,” the black man said
“I did, I did. But the fates have chosen a boy more powerful than fifty men combined” “not in strength but in
power and mind” Scimbo said
“Ok, but your sure he’s the one” the black man said
“Positive.” Scimbo said
“Are you sure, you remember what happened last time”
Scimbo’s face grew red with anger.
“I remember, too well for my liking”
“But are you sure about this one”
“I swear on my life”
As if on cue, thunder and lightning shook the castle.
“**** Scimbo you know what will happen if you’re wrong”
Scimbo suddenly regretted those words.
“What are we going to do with him?” Scimbo asked
“We need to take him”
“But how, he won’t come willingly”
“Then we just have to take him by force”
“And if he gets away?” Scimbo asked
“Then we have to kill him”
“What?” Scimbo asked
“Fine maybe not him, but defiantly his little girlfriend”
Scimbo smiled.
“And you will do this”
“Do what?”
“Kidnap the boy, and if he doesn’t want to help, you will kill the girl”
Scimbo turned to leave, but the black man stopped him and gave him a small sheet of paper, rolled up into a scroll,
“Give him this”
Chapter 4: its okay to dance
My mind was telling me something, something I could not put my finger on. It gave my chest a tugging feeling and that told my legs to run. Because if there is one thing I have learned in life, it has been to trust my instincts.
I started sprinting, and looked back to see a man in brown over coat like what those spies wear. His head covered in a black hat, I was only able to make out his eyes. They were, black like there were no eyes at all. I shivered and thought back to my dream, me standing in the city killing innocent people. However, all I could remember were the eyes. Pitch black just like this man’s eyes.
I tried to scream for help but nothing came out, I rounded a corner, and suddenly felt this feeling bubble inside me, a feeling that was telling me to stop it took control of me and I skidded on my shoes and came to a sudden stop. I screamed at my body to run but it would not oblige. I saw the man rounding the corner he was slow but had a strong body.
Then I heard a solid
WANGGGG
I looked turned away from the man and saw arrow rights where my head would have been if I kept running.
“****, holy ****, holy ****” I said as I stared at the arrow in the wall.
Somehow, my body knew to stop running, somehow it knew there was an archer somewhere, but where.
I immediately felt pressure on my back, and I fell to the floor. I was too stunned to register the pain. The man dragged me into an ally and started tying my hands behind my back.
“Who are you?” I asked
He did not answer.
“Why have you attacked me?”
He did not answer.
I was furious at him. That made my chest bubble inside, and soon that instinct took me over again.
I flicked my leg up and kicked him in the head, then with my other leg kicked him in the groin. He doubled over in pain, I saw that as my opportunity, I jumped up and ran as fast as I could.
I rounded a bend and came to a familiar house, Julie’s house. I ran and hit the door with my head trying furiously to get them to answer. The door opened and I barged inside.
“Adam what wrong?” she asked I tried to explain, but my voice came out as a muffled scream
“justwalkingdownthestreetmanchasedmeattackedmeiecapedandcamehere”
“What the…?” she said
I had caught my breath now
“I was just walking down the street when I was attacked by a man I tried to run but he caught me, and then tied me up. I escaped and came here.”
For the first time she seemed to see, my hand tied behind my back
She laughed
“Funny joke Adam who else is in on this with you”
“This is not a joke!” I said with as much urgency as I could.
That just made her laugh even harder.
“That’s funny Adam”
“I’m not jockin…..”
Just then the door bashed down and the man came in, but then I relised he was not a man but a living breathing zombie.
Chapter 5: Lovy Dovy
I grabbed Julies hand and ran as fast as I could up the spiral staircase to the top floor I ran down the long, gloomy, and wooden hallway. I turned left and twisted the doorknob on a large metallic door, only upon entering did I relies there were no windows or possible exit. I turn to leave only to walk into a bug husk of rotting meat.
He grabbed my shoulders faster than I could have ever dreamed and pinned me to the floor, I tried to get up, but he was to strong. He opened his jaw impossibly wide, leaned down to my neck, and took a very big and very painful bight. I screamed in pain and tried to kick him off but he was to strong.
He took another bight and another and each time the pain increased.
‘I’m good as dead’ I thought
Then I got that tugging feeling again but this time it was more painful I turned my head and saw to my horror that my eyes were pitch black. Than the zombie yelled in pain and was lifted off my chest and then was engulfed in bright red light, I turned my head at the intensity of the light and then heard he zombie give a finally yell as the light finally ceased. When I turned my head to look at the zombie, all I saw was a pile of dust lying on the floor.
I stared in awe at the dust.
“Did I do that?” I muttered under my breath.
Than a thought struck me.
“JULIE!”
I turned and saw a very pale Julie standing stone still staring at where the monster just was. I walked up to her and shook her by the shoulders.
“JULIE, JULIE U HAVE TO LISTEN TO ME”
She did not move.
“JULIE”
I shook repeatedly but it did no good, she was stuck. Then she fell to the ground and did not move.
“Oh ****,” I said
I picked Julie up and ran out of the room, down the hall, jumped down the stairs and then out the door.
‘I have to get her to the hospital’ I thought
As I passed people, they all stared in awe at my giant bight in the side of my neck. I turned a corner and found the hospital just a few meters away. I barged through the doors and screamed for help.
“What’s wrong?” a nurse asked
“She fell, I mean fainted, I mean fell and fainted,” I said
“Uh huh” the nurse said
She took Julie, put her on a stretcher, and rushed her into the emergency room I ran after her and reached the emergency room door when a security officer told me that I could not go any further. I tried to protest but he told me to sit down. I sat down, closed my eyes and finally fell asleep.
I woke up in a cold hard sweat I felt my neck and found it bandaged and wet. I stood up and immediately asked a nurse for Julie’s room she told me it was number 616 but she will not be able to talk. When I asked why she told me Julie is in a comma from shock.
“No” I whispered
“Pardon” the nurse said
“NO!” I screamed as I ran to her room
I barged through the doors only to find Julie, in the bed with her eyes closed and her face beating with sweat.
“Julie” I said.
She did not answer. I sat down next to her bed and sobbed.
“Please, Please” I said “Don’t leave me, you have been an amazing friend and I don’t know what I should do without you” “Why did I have to drag you into this in the first place, if I just let you be you wouldn’t be here and you would be healthy and well.”
I looked into her face and said, “I love you Julie.”
Then she gasped and her eyes flew open. I jumped back in shock causing me to fall off the chair.
“JULIE!” I said with surprise
“Adam?” she asked
“Yes it’s me” I replied
“How long have you been awake?” I ask
“Oh long enough to hear all of that”
I don’t know who blushed brighter, her or me?
“Adam” she said
“Yes” I said
“I love you too”
My mouth flew open in astonishment; she just smiled and got out of bed. I embraced her but she pulled me off her and then kissed me on the lips, I stepped back but she just pulled me closer. After about 5 seconds I relaxed into her and started kissing her back, when we finally were pulled away we just smiled at each other. “Come on lets go” I told her After we signed out of the hospital, we walked to Julie’s house and fell asleep next to each other.
Chapter 6:
When I awoke, Julie had her arm around my chest. She was sleeping so quietly. I got up, stretched, and yawned so loudly it was a miracle Julie had not woken up. I put my shirt on and went down stairs to make breakfast.
I got out a few bits of bacon and threw them into the furnace. I set a timer for 5 minutes.
‘That should be long enough’ I thought
The morning was freezing. Bits of ice hung from the windows, the floors were wet from dew, and my hands were so numb I was afraid they were going to fall off. I sat in front of the furnace and placed my hands on the glass. The heat that radiated off the glass warmed my hands so that in less than a minute they were red.
I breathed a sigh of relief and squeezed my hands tight together enjoying the sensation of warmth.
Ding
The timer went off and I took out the bacon. It smelt so good I wanted to eat it all for myself. However, I knew I could not; I had to wait for Julie. To pass the time I decided to make something extra. I cracked some eggs, added some milk, salt, pepper, I put it in the furnace for about 30 seconds. I set the table with some knives and forks, put out some glasses, and poured some juice.
Ding
The timer went off again. I walked over to the furnace and took out the eggs. I placed one on Julie’s plate and one on mine. I cut up the bacon and put the bacon in a small bowl. Then I put a cloth over the bowl and plates to keep them warm. Then as a second thought, I took a small candle and lit it.
Clomp, Clomp, Clomp was the sound that Julie made as she came down the stairs.
“Morning” I said
“Morning” she said, rubbing the sleep from her eyes.
“Have a nice sleep” I immediately blushed at how stupid that sounded.
She just smiled
“With you?” she teased and playfully pushed me
Adam smiled, happy that she was here and not in the hospital.
“Breakfast?” I asked
“Yes please” she said
She sat down at the table and smiled, Adam smiled back, then looked away a little embarrassed Julia did the same.
“You know I don’t regret it, I mean wrong time wrong place and whatever, but I don’t regret it.” I said
“I don’t either,” she said and smiled.
There was a long and awkward silence between us only broken by my chair as it slid back against the stone. I started up the stairs but suddenly stopped and looked around. There was that feeling again, the one, which told me to stop. Then an image came to my head it was the image of the house on fire and Julie was in the middle unreachable. I sprinted back down grabbed Julie and ran out the door and down the street.
“What the hell Adam” she said
“I’m sorry I....” I the deafening sound of TNT cut me off. Bits of stone and wood went flying over our heads at speed, which would have killed me if they hit.
“LETS GET OUT OF HERE!” I screamed at Julie
She did not move, she just stood there in utter disbelief. Why should I blame her, she had all her childhood memories in there and now they are just… gone.
“Come on we need to get out of here” I said in a more soothing tone. She nodded and we shoved past the crowd of onlookers. When I looked back all I saw was the smoking remains of the house, but one more thing, a. Face. I suddenly stopped the face had saw me and was now speaking to me.
“You cannot stop us” I heard the same voice in my dream. My face grew pale as I worked it out.
I turned to Julie who gave no indication of hearing the voice. From then on we ran. We ran past shops, hotels, the hospital, and cafes but we did not stop we could not. We turned into a dark alley and fell from mere exhaustion. I tuned to Julie and found her lips waiting.
“Ok!” she started “Explaining time”
“Um…” incredible verbal skills I know.
“Adam you can tell me anything,” she said calming me down.
“Ok here it goes”
“You know a few days ago when you saw me on my walk”
“Yea?” she said
“Well I had just come back from the longest run of my life”
“What do you mean?” she asked
I told her the story of how I was out looking for some water for the town and ran into a horde of monsters. I then told her how I somehow knew there was water even though I could not see it. Then I told her about the dream I had and how the guy looked like me. She just stared at me her face completely blank.
“And the zombie thing that you killed” Julie said, “That was really something.”
“Yea” I said.
She kissed me and after a while, I kissed her back.
“What ever you are,” she said, “You will always be the same in my eyes.”

“Come on lets go” I told her
After we signed out of the hospital, we walked to Julie’s house and fell asleep next to each other.
