Red dragons could be mutated offspring of Enderdragons, and they escaped to the Overworld. Chickens know the darkness holds deadly creatures, so they want to be safe in light. The random islands could be propelled upwards by gases in their hollow cores, a mass amount of helium or something lighter than air. Redstone glows because it reacts to lava, which it's normally near. The "Ender Ghast" absorbs energy from the crystals by giving up its ability to shoot fireballs. Some humans can fly because they've been affected by Blazes and Ghasts in the Nether, but not enough to become negatively affected. The record "11" was a messed up record "13" ^ ^

- Promised, they're not yet here. And you know Notch's promises are rarely fulfilled (mostly for the better).
- Well duh? If it's dark wouldn't you go to light, specially if there's monsters in the dark?
- Minecraft worlds are naturally strange. Does this even need an explanation?

- The End's physics don't work like in the overworld; the ghast/ dragon uses that to his advantage.

Sorry if I sounded rude. Just telling him the right explanations were there (your explanations don't make a lot of sense though, such as the redstone, flying and ghast ones). But thank you anyway.
However; if I was the one Writing it I would say that the modern Zombie-Pigmen are mearly descendants of the once great Pigman civilizations, they are still trying to fulfill their ancestor's goals, However over countless generations the Plague on them has taken a toll and now are barely more intelligent then the skeletons.
