This is just a short, sort-of fanfic, created for my self enjoyment. It is connected to my other fanfic "The Diamond Plague" so if you would like, read the other one as well. Feedback is always appreciated.
The Elder Entries. (The Diamond Plague Prologue, Sorta)
Entry 1
I, Linus Alberson, have decided to record any of my future experiences within these series of entries. These may come in handy in the future for myself or anyone else in need of experience and assistance.
I am a refugee. I carry tremendous guilt on my shoulders. It is my fault that my civilization is close to its downfall. I accept my banishment, however I will try my best to find a way to save them. I promise.
If there is any holy force watching over this Earth, please bless me with good fortune.
Entry 2
I have been traveling for days, with little food or water. With the limited supplies and tools I have at the moment, it is hard to have high hopes of my survival. I have decided to travel east, away from the shore, hoping to find signs of other civilization.
Entry 3
Alas! I have spotted a city, with much potential. I am residing far enough away to remain undetected. The city seems to be surrounded by a wall of stone.
It seems as though the creatures of the night live in harmony with the townspeople. Their hunters travel out during the day, while as the “dark spawn” (refers to the night creatures) reveal themselves during the night and hunt down lingering cattle or wild animals. This civilization is much better off thanthe last one.
A few more observations are needed until I will venture towards the city.
Entry 4
I have been spotted! I was gathering herbs in order to make myself some tea, and they discovered my campsite while I was gone. My tools, and supplies are gone, taken by those unruly citizens. The only things I have left are these entries, some wood, and herbs I gathered from earlier.
I think it is about time I approached the city.
Entry 5
The people welcomed me with open arms. What fools! They seem quite isolated, therefore their knowldge of this world is limited. The knowledge I HAVE is very powerful. I can use this to my advantage to gain trust, maybe even power over their “king.”
From what I have heard, their king’s name is Magnus Novellus. His bloodline has had power over this city for quite some time. His wife, Samantha, is quite generous. She has allowed me to stay in the guest’s quarters of their home. Their son, Caesar, is an interesting young lad.
Entry 6
I've made a good first impression. The king refers to me as their "adviser", and because of my age, many folk refer to me as "the elder". This city, called Sibia, shall serve as a wonderful new home. At least until I can find a way to save my people. I promised I will.
Also, it is important to note that the miners have found a large series of caverns and tunnels, lying right beneath the city. Opportunity calls, my friend.
Entry 7
Today, I decided to embark on a journey into the mines. We ventured into an empty room-like cavern. The walls were smooth, however the floor was extremely peculiar. It was a bridge like structure, separating a waterfall from a lava fall. We named it,"The Middle Land." The name suits it well. Where molten rock touches ice cold water.
That is not the worst of it, however. The miners came across the "stone". The same stone that has put my civilization at its knees. I will NOT let them touch it. The stone still haunts me, with its eerie, purplish glow. Oh heavens me!
Entry 8
Curse the Earth! The king has demanded that all the purple rock be gathered for more inspection. I suspect that he may have heard stories about it! I must stop them before it is too late. Not again... No, I won't let this happen!
Entry 9
I have failed. I am sorry. Not only have I not found a way to stop my own civilization from destruction, but I have doomed this one as well.
I have decided to set aside some time to tag along with the builders of the city. If I don't stop them now, they will build THAT structure.
Entry 10
The king silenced me today. I told him it was too dangerous, but he is filled with much greed. They built the damn structure in the basement of the castle! You can hear evil itself moaning through the "portal of death".
Entry 11
I have lost hope. A messenger came by earlier. I recognized the young lad, he was a citizen of my old home. My civilization has been destroyed. Lives of countless numbers have been lost, and the evil approaches. Fortunately, there is no one there left to take the terrible burden of the "carrier".
I took the liberty of assigning myself on the expedition into the "darkness". I can't say the name.
We ventured into the new world. It was plain hell. I wanted to leave, and so did everyone else. However, something was calling to me. It was overwhelming. I later found myself holding a diamond. I have become the next "carrier". Please someone kill me before it is too late!
Entry 12
I have tried to fight it. The urge. I placed the diamond in The Middle Land, to ensure its security. I cannot destroy it. I cannot even get near it.
The king ordered me to get it back, but I cannot. He sent a squad of men and women into the mines. They were ordered to retrieve it! A terrible fate indeed. The king seems to be affected by its powers, just as much a I.
Two of the most trusted members of the community have decided to lead the squad. Claire and Andrew. Their daughter, Jessika, was left in my care, however, I am too dangerous to be around children. It is too late for me.
Entry 13
Only Claire and Andrew came back. They were unsuccessful. Thank goodness! They are traumatized for life, however, always being called upon by that treacherous diamond...
Entry 14
CURSES! I have done a terrible deed. It called to me. It controlled me! The king and queen, lay limp, blood stained on the floor of their castle! Caesar was at his uncles, thank goodness! I am tainted. it is too late.
The townspeople, have declared me the next in power because of Caesar's young age. It is too much to handle. On top of that, Claire and Andrew came to me to BEG that they go back into the mines. The diamond has been trying to call to me as well.
I am afraid Andrew and Claire will not come back. I promised them not to tell Jessika of their actions.
Entry 15
I am going mad. Dreams! Why give a man the ability to be haunted even when asleep?! I will lose all control over myself. I will become a walking servant of the darkness. I know what their goal is too. Th Heart of Diamonds. The damn place will fall if there is no hero to stop me.
A large storm approaches. An omen maybe? Please give me good fortune.
Entry 16
A plague! A plague! A bloody plague! Those who touch the cursed diamonds will suffer a terrible fate!
Something truly peculiar is going on! An outsider, female, has stumbled upon our doorstep. She is, unfortunately, plagued by the illness we fear. The cure is red stone! However, luck does not smile upon us at these times! It is scarce... Just like last time.
Entry 17
This will be my last entry. I can barely hold a pen, I am trembling so much. The diamond calls to me once more. The start of a revolution!
Another outsider has washed up on our doorstep again today. His name is Mo! He declares himself the hero! The hero that will save us from this plague! Bravery is great in this one, however, the destruction of one diamond is not going to save us all. The portal is the key! Destroy the portal, destroy the connection!
But it is too late. The diamonds' orders... It still lingers in my head. "More purple stone... New structure... Stronger bond..."
Mo! If there is anyone who can stop me, please! You must hurry! The Heart of Diamonds is a distraction! The portal! The new portal! It will unleash evil the world has never seen! Earth have mercy on us all!
Uh oh, I foresee bad things in the future of TDP. Why did the elder go and throw the 4 of them down a hole, anyway? Why didn't he just say to destroy the portals in private?
VERY well done and constructed and I especially like the fact that we can now see whats going on in the "Elder"s head! Very well done. Best Regards, Wolverine
^^^^^ Thanks everyone! This was just a little background story to the elder and Caesar and Jessika. There are going to be no new major character additions to The Diamond Plague that I plan on doing.

Very, very interesting :biggrin.gif:
I noticed the son called Caesar, any connection to TDP?
Yes, actually. I stated above, that it is sort of the prologue. It is the journal of the elder. Some back ground and side story :biggrin.gif:.
In the morning a new chapter will be up.
Tatankaz
Hope you all enjoy the rest of TDP
tatankaz
