Minecraft
Introduction
My name is Steven. It is the year 2012; the government was trying to evacuate as many people from Earth as possible; I was one of the few people to get off. As I say this I am floating through space in my E-pod; which is on an auto pilot route towards Mars. There were already some people on Mars, but I have a feeling I would never get to the colony in time. I had food and water to last me two more months. It has been one month now and I can see Mars in the distance. I have to say, I was a little excited. Just as I was starting to go to sleep, I saw a bright light from outside the window. I looked out, and it was a Wormhole! It was sucking me right in! The E-pod was shaking so badly that I fell over. I looked out the window and all I saw was streams of blue, white, and green. After a while I got drowsy and fainted.
CHAPTER 1
Crash land
After what felt like ages I woke up. I looked at the Day Counter, it said: ERROR. I looked out the window of the pod; I was orbiting a planet that looked three times the size of Earth. I started searching through an Explore the Universe book that came with the pod; it didn’t have anything about this planet in it. I was getting curious; I noticed that the auto pilot switch was off too. I decided to get a closer look at this planet, which was a bad idea. When I got a little closer I started getting sucked towards it. I tried to get the E-pod to pull up, but no use. When I got close enough I saw that was heading straight for a forest. I remembered that the E-pod had a eject button with a parachute! I was getting closer and closer to the forest. Just as I got to the point where I was under the clouds I jumped out. When we were evacuating Earth we were all taught how to use a parachute, but mine didn’t work. I was falling; I knew that I was going to die. The force of the wind was draining out the sound of my screaming. I was getting closer to the forest canopy. I decided to give my last prayers, and then I hit the trees.
I woke up, I was lying face up on the top of a tree. How was I alive? I sat up; I was on the top of what looked like the tallest tree in the forest. I started to climb down, half way down I noticed how hungry I was, all the food was in the pod. When I got to the bottom I saw nothing but trees and grass that was about three feet tall. I started walking in the direction that I thought was north. After about a half hour of walking I heard something, sounds of small footsteps, the grass was shaking in some spots. I tried to ignore it and I kept walking. After another half hour I was out of the forest, but I still heard the footsteps behind me. It was getting closer; the grass was rippling where it was walking. The creature came out of the grass, it was a chicken. The chicken and I stared at each other for about ten minutes, then I realized what I could do, it would be my dinner. I started chasing the chicken through the field outside of the forest, I needed that food. After about five minutes of chasing the chicken I heard something running in my direction, I was too hungry to turn around and see it. Then I heard something whistling through the air, whatever it was hit me in the back. It felt like someone through a wine bottle filled with acid at me, it stung. In fact, it stung so bad that I passed out, and the chicken got away.
CHAPTER 2
The Testificates
I woke up covered head to toe with a silk sheet. I tried to get up, but my back was too stiff from the pain earlier. I decided just to lie under the sheet and try to find out what was going on. I heard footsteps and what sounded like someone reading a book. Then I heard someone talk.
“Excuse me Professor Henley; do you honestly think that it is a good idea to keep this thing here? We could just cremate it and pretend this never happened.”
Then who I am guessing was Henley spoke up
“You don’t see Jackton! I found this thing chasing one of our farm chickens, I could not let a creature harm the poor thing, but, I do not yet know what this thing is! It could be a new species of some sort, or a”
“Henley, whatever this thing is, it is clearly dead.”
“Jackton, you are a butcher, not a scientist. Now leave me so I can study on these objects I found in that meteor that crashed last night.”
After that I heard what sounded like someone walking up stairs. Was I in a crazy guy’s basement? I wasn’t sure. I was getting really confused; I pulled off the silk sheet. There stood a man about six feet tall; he had a very tall for-head, brown skin, a long saggy nose, and green eyes. He stood staring at me in disbelief for about what felt like ten minutes. He finally said something
“Sweet love of Creeper, It is alive!” he dropped all of his tools and ran towards me.
He continued talking to himself
“Oh this is amazing! But no one can know of this, they will be very afraid. I have to do something though!”
I finally said
“Where am I, and who are you?”
“It speaks! I am Professor Henley; you are in the village Mineville.”
I noticed he had a pile of my stuff that was in the E-pod.
“Where did you find all of that stuff?”
“That? I found it in the meteor that crashed last night. It was after I threw that Splash Acid at you.”
“Splash Acid?”
“Yes, it is a small glass bottle with acid in it, on impact with something the glass cuts the skin, and the acid gets on the wound.”
I didn’t know what to say about that.
“What is your name?” he asked me
“My name is Steven.”
He looked even more shocked.
“What is your eye color?”
“Purple, why?”
He looked even more shocked than before.
“No reason. I forgot to tell you, our race is called the Testificates. Look out that window there.”
He gestured me to look out of the basement window. It was one of those windows that were close to the ground from the outside. I could see a lot of Testificates walking around the village, enjoying their everyday lives. I saw farms, churches, a mine, and what I thought was a library.
“Now, Steven, you cannot go outside until I tell everyone in the village about your existence. Meanwhile try to stay out of site from the window. When I get everyone accompanied with the fact that there is an unknown species in the village, I will show you around.”
I knew I would have to get used the fact that I am going to have to live on an alien planet for probably the rest of my life. I looked around a bit; I saw a green head inside one of those jars that they use to preserve stuff in, the head was camouflage green. It didn’t look human at all, it also looked like it was frozen mid scream, and the eyes were black.
“What is this?” I asked
“Oh that is one of the heads of the Creepers that live in the caves. I was going to give it as a trophy to a man that killed one with his bare hands.”
“Why haven’t you given it to him yet?”
“Creepers tend to go in packs.”
I didn’t even know what to say about that. I knew that meant he was killed, but I didn’t even know what a creeper was.
“Listen,” he said “why don’t you just get some rest, you have a big day ahead of you.”
I got in the bed and a fell asleep almost instantly.
CHAPTER 3
The Creature
I was sleeping on a shaggy bed with blankets that felt like towels, but I guess it was better than nothing. Plus, I was in an alien’s basement. I woke up to the sound of something brushing against the dirt. I looked at the floor and I saw that Henley and one of those heater vents that people use on their floor. I ignored the sound and tried to go back to sleep. Ten minutes later I heard a sound outside, it sounded like a mix of a frog, a horse neigh, and a cow. I decided to get up and look out the window. I saw someone standing under a lantern that was on top of a pole. He looked like he was nine feet tall. He had his back to me, I noticed his skin was solid black, and he was wearing a loincloth. He had arms that were so long that his elbows were almost at is knees. His legs also made up half of his height. He turned towards me, he had red glowing eyes and it looked like smoke was falling off of him. We stared and each other for a while, eventually I blinked, and he was staring directly at me. I was starting to get worried a little, I got back in bed and tried to go back to sleep. I looked out the window again when I got in bed and the creature was staring through the window! It started to make loud neighing noises and punching the window. It eventually punched through the window and got in the room, except it didn’t crawl in, it teleported. It started slowly walking towards my bed; it got so close to me that I could hear it breathing. I heard someone slowly coming down the stairs, it was Henley, and he had a shovel. He hit the creature in the back with the shovel and they started to fight, then Henley said
“Quick Steven, get the splash acid out of the cabinet!”
I found a bottle in the cabinet that said “Splash Acid” and I threw it at the creature, when the creature got hit by the acid it dissolved, and the smoke drifted out the window.
“What was that?” I yelled
“That was an Enderman.”
“What is an Enderman?”
“Listen, I will explain everything to you later.”
Explain Everything? What did he mean? Is there something I should know? Just as Henley started to talk again I heard the brushing in the vent again, and this time it was louder.
“Oh no,” Henley said
I black silhouette came out of the vent and shot under one of the towels. It peeked out at us, it had solid black eyes, it was a bug about the size of a loaf of bread, and it was grey and harry.
“What is that?” I asked going over to see it closer
“Those are Silverfish. Do not touch them.”
Too late, I already put my hand near it; it sniffs it and looks directly in my eyes. After about ten minutes of staring in silence it goes back into the vent.
“Son, I told you not to touch it!”
“I didn’t touch it, it sniffed my hand!”
“Silverfish, they get a mental image of you if you so much as touch them, this is very bad.”
“Again, how is this bad?”
“I told you I would tell you when the time comes to know, now try to go back to bed.”
I had a strange dream, everything was black, and I was standing in front of a silhouetted man on a solid black throne, and I couldn’t talk.
“Pour boy knows nothing of what is to come.” Says the man in a low booming voice
I hear a higher pitched raspy voice say
“My lord, we have made contact with him, we know everything about him now.”
“Very good, but let’s show him a hint of what is to come.”
When he says this I feel myself sucked into the ground that was in front of him, or it. I flew underground, and I was then standing in front of a massive blood red castle, and it looks like I was in Hell. The caves walls soaked in blood, constantly hearing screaming, and men walked around. But, not normal men, half of their bodies were decayed, and they had pig heads. I then shot underground again, this time I was in a massive mine-shaft, and I saw something staring at me in the end of the corridor, it was a Creeper. It had no arms and four legs. It slowly walked towards me, examining me. It then made a large array of clicking and hissing sounds, then five more creepers showed up. They were all staring at me, just as one ran towards me and started to glow red, I woke up.
CHAPTER 4
The Prophecy
I wake up and Henley is sitting next to my bed, with a red liquid in a bottle. He takes a sip and he coughs,
“Ah, they say you should never drink too much of this.” He says
“What is it?”
“It is called ‘Insta-heal potion, get better in an instant!’”
“So why are you drinking it?”
“I think it just tastes good.”
He gets up and gives me some; I had some small pieces of glass in my leg and arm from last night. The second it goes down my throat I start feeling better.
“So I tried to tell everyone about you being here,” he says
“But, I went along and got this at the library.”
He hands me a piece of folded leather, it is a newspaper. I read it, it says:
Enderman Sighting!
Local villagers say they saw an Enderman breaking into Professor Henley’s lab! Some people say, “I saw it in the distance but I knew I shouldn’t disturb it.” Or “It was pretty scary; I would do anything to protect my shop.” We also interviewed Prof Henley himself! He tells us: “I tried to hit that thing as hard as I could with that garden shovel, I didn’t want it messing with my new experiment! I would say what the experiment was, but I am sure that it could cause some ‘minor panic’”.
Local Mine news……
That is where the fold cuts it off. What did he mean by ‘minor panic’?
“Well maybe I didn’t quite tell them.” Henley says
“What is so hard about telling them?”
“Well, I think I should tell you why,”
“You are Steven, as it says in a stone tablet in the mines. We also found that he had purple eyes, you. The tablet also read: ‘We shall have a savior of this description; he will go to the deepest depths of Hell and go to the very End.’ You Steven, you, are that savior. You have that description, you have amazing running abilities, you, most importantly, survived that crash.”
We sit silent for a long time before I speak up,
“I had a dream.”
“Of what?”
I explain to him the dream of being in front of the man, being in Hell, and being in the abandoned mine. He says
“Yes, it is you, and Jackton also knows now that you live. He has tried to tell people but they didn’t listen, probably because he isn’t a scientist like I am.” He puts down his drink,
“I think the first thing we should do together, Steven, is go get the other part of that tablet.”
“But people still need to know about me to get out, right?”
“Not exactly.” He says. He goes over and flips a switch on his wall; a doorway opens from the stone.
“Follow me. You’ll need this.” He hands me a leather hardhat.
As we walk down the corridor under the town he says,
“This is a very secret corridor I made to the mines, not many people should be there right now.”
He takes out a torch so we could see in the darkness.
“Jackton should be at the other end of the corridor.”
We keep walking until we get to a massive mine: It had a corridor twice as big as the one we were walking in stretching as far as I could see. It also had more corridors leading out of the sides, Except Jackton wasn’t there.
“Jackton, where are you?” Henley yelled for a while.
“No luck, he probably forgot to meet us or he got lost.”
He closes the hidden door behind us and we keep walking. After about forty-five minutes of walking we hear the sound of music.
“Stop,” Henley says
We stop at the near end of the corridor where we hear the music, it sounds like a mix of flute, bongos, and some type of horn. Henley says just to ignore it and keep going down the corridors.
After about an hour in total of searching we still haven’t found Jackton. We keep searching until our water runs out. We start seeing cracks in the wall, and the sound of hissing.
“What is that?” I ask
“It is more silverfish. Just try not to touch that wall.”
We keep walking and walking. Not a hint of Jackton yet, I ask if we should go back to see if he is in the village but Henley says
“He would know to come down here when needed, and we have no reason to go back up there at the moment anyway.”
As we walk the cracks in the walls get thicker, and the hissing gets louder.
Eventually I lose my balance and land against the wall, which now made a huge crack in it, and the hissing has stopped.
“Run,” Henley says
“What?”
“Just run!”
We start to run as the wall next to us explodes in a shower of gray and black, hundreds and hundreds of silverfish.
“Whatever you do don’t trip!” Henley yells as we run
We run and run until we see the secret door entrance, and this time it is open. We run through the door, then I notice something, you can only open and close the door from the outside of it. We keep running down the corridor to the basement, the silverfish are on our heels. We jump into the basement and Henley slams the stone door shut, again hidden. We slide down the door on our backs and sit there on the floor, it take me about ten minutes to realize that the room is filled with village news reporters.
CHAPTER 5
Being Found Out
Just as I realize what is going on someone in the room yells out,
“Oh lord Notch, what is that thing?”
I notice that Jackton is also in the room with the other five Testificates, he looks surprised at us being here. Then Henley speaks up,
“Jackton what are you doing?!”
“None of them believed me when I said you had a, what was it, thing living in your basement. I knew they would believe me once I showed them!”
“Jackton, you dwarfed cave spider! We were going to meet in the mines remember?”
“Well I forgot! You know me for having trouble remembering!”
Finally a newspaper writer speaks up and says,
“I thought we went through this with everyone in Mineville, it is against the law to go into the stone mines if you are not a miner, or if you don’t have one with you. Again, what is this thing you have with you professor?”
“My name is Steven, I am what you call a Human, and I am from a planet called Earth.” I reply
I notice a villager sitting on a stool with a pencil and canvas.
“Tell me more, Steven.” Which he pronounces Stee-van
“Well, I was evacuated from Earth because the planet was ending due to natural causes. I was on my way to the next closest and safest planet in the system,”
I told them about me flying through space in the E-pod, getting sucked into the wormhole, and crash-landing in a tree. The reporter was writing all of this down as I talked.
“I think we have a story that none of the villagers will ever believe!” The reporter shouts
Everyone in the room laughs except for Henley and I.
We stand there and watch as all of the reporters leave the room chattering. The only people left in the room are Me, Jackton, and Henley.
“I think it is time we all just went to sleep.” Henley says
“I agree.” Replies Jackton
They both walk upstairs, I assume on Earth right now it is about nine o’clock, because that’s how it feels for me.
I climb in bed and try to fall asleep, but I can’t, something is keeping me awake. It is night again and I look out the basement window. Of course something is outside the window when I get there, I spider about the size of a watermelon. It ignores me and then walks away. I am about to turn around when I feel a cold boney hand on my shoulder, no, it is boney, like a skeleton. I turn to see a skeleton, not one you would find it a school biology class, but a living one.
“Hello Steven,” It says in a low raspy voice, much like the one in my dream. I jump back, it disappears into smog, it was a hallucination.
I crawl in bed and try to fall asleep, it is hard, but, I fall asleep eventually.
I woke up, I was lying face up on the top of a tree. How was I alive? I sat up; I was on the top of what looked like the tallest tree in the forest.
