You wake up in a blocky, strange, dangerous world. It's familiar to you. You wander around, looking for/punching trees, because for some reason this seems like the thing to do. Then, a memory hits you. Three other people wandered with you, two of them allies, one of them your leader. You remember bloody stone, a soft material that grabbed at your feet as you walked by, and stone that shone as bright as a torch. There was lava. Lots of lava. You remember it all now, the sudden screeching, the balls of white hot fire flying towards you all, and the sight of your two team mates flying off the edge of the blood-stone cliff, into the scorching lava. When you remember their screams, your head throbs. You remember running, there was lots of running. At one point, you got scared at something that came out of a dark shadow, and killed it. It was a curious pig creature on two legs, innocent enough, and you murdered it in cold blood. More of them came out of the shadows to avenge their fallen warrior, and you couldn't blame them. You also couldn't beat them. You remember being shoved back as your master began to fight them. You started to help them, but you knew that even then that the fight was futile. You remember him yelling "GO! ESCAPE. TELL THEM MY STORY. COMPLETE THE QUEST!" You continued running until you reached a portal. You went through, but right before you teleported, you heard the sound of dozens of screeches, and you felt the heat of them, singing your clothes, burning your skin. You remember looking behind you and seeing a pile of debris where the portal used to be. You then passed out. You look behind you now, and see nothing there. All that was left from your old life besides the clothes on your back, blown away in the wind. There is no time to grief though. Time is of the essence. You must find your village. Tell them the tale of Ronin, Steve, Anne, and Kal. And how there was only Steve left. Hopefully they can tell you why you went to that hell world in the first place.
OBJECTIVE: Find an NPC village.
The challenge: You can only use wooden tools. You can collect all the cobble, coal, wood, and whatever else you can get without stone tools, that you want. Wood only. When I say no crafting with anything but wood, I mean ANYTHING cobblestone isn't allowed. Looks like you'll being eating your porkchops raw. Also, no making a home. No sleeping, no houses, just search for the village. You are looking for a village so that you can make sure that two brave men and a brave woman didn't die in vain. You aren't going to do anything until you do that.
What you get when completed: A place to call home. You can either choose a house, or build your own.
Chapter 2- The First Job
You found your village at long last. You tell them the story, and the families and friends of the lost grieve. The village elder welcomes you back with open arms, telling you that you can take one of the unused homes, or one of the used ones (after your quest, it's not like one of the villagers is going to reject your stay) and thanks you for your support. He says that he doesn't think that you're mind is stable enough to accept what the quest was. This news makes you want to punch him in the face, but you know his intentions are good. He tells you that you should take your mind off things, get other things done. As if on cue, a man that was sitting in the corner of the meeting room whispers at you. "You, Steve, come 'ere." You walk over. "I know that this is very shallow, seeing as how you just got back from a quest, but you can take however long you want. As you probably don't remember, I'm Jorge, one of the best cobblestone forgers in the world. If you do this quest for me, I will teach you how to make stone tools. Anyways, my wife was recently VERY seriously injured in a mining expedition. And the materials needed for healing potion are rather...dangerous to get."
OBJECTIVE: Get 3 string, 3 ender pearls, 3 rotten flesh, 3 bones, 3 arrows (no crafting them), 3 gun powder.
The challenge: Wooden tools still. Sorry 'bout that. But hey, next mission, you get stone tools! Yeah. I don't quite get how you've survived so far, with only eating raw food, but if you're doing good so far then hopefully you can go all the way.
What you get when completed: Stone tools, cobblestone equipment. You can now craft anything that doesn't require iron, gold, or diamond.
Chapter 3- The Blacksmith
"Thank you!" Jorge says as you hand him the equipment that his wife needed. As promised, he shows you how to craft with the weak but common stone. You hand him the stuff (throw it in the lava at the black-smiths forge) and go back to your home (you should have built it by now.) Then, a knock echoes through the room, the sound clearly coming from your wooden door. You open it up, and in comes a huge, muscular figure. You immediately react aggresively, this man is so huge and brutish looking. You get ready to attack, but he quickly says, in his deep booming voice "Woah there, Steve, it's fine. You probably don't remember me. My name is Rochford. I am the smith at this village. I couldn't help but overhear your talk with Jorge. You did him a favor and he taught you how to do something. If you do this very hard, laborious task, then I will teach you how to create gold and iron tools. My beautiful girlfriend and I are celebrating our one year anniversary, and I want to get her something special. Recently, my her dad was killed. Yes, I know, Jorges wife getting injured, my girlfriends dad dying...In case you hadn't noticed, Steve, things are rather difficult nowadays. In fact, thats- nevermind. Just listen; her father died while holding some rather important stuff to her. It was stolen by those damned Endermen, and they were hidden deep underground."
OBJECTIVE: Find a dungeon, stronghold, or abandoned mineshaft, then find a chest that one of them have, then take everything from that chest and bring it back to the village.
The challenge: Stone tools. That's gonna suck. Also, you can't even use a compass or map yet, because you have to mine redstone with iron. Really going to suck to be you. Hey, better than wood though.
What you get when completed: Iron/golden tools.
Chapter 4- Gordan Dreen...
"You did it? You...actually did it. Those places are amongst the most dangerous in all of minecraftia! Wow..." You cast an accusing glance at him. "Er, of course I knew you would make it back though, as I never would have assigned such a dangerous quest to such a...hero." He said the last word with a slow sarcasm. You clench your hands into fists, and he looks at them with a sly grin on his face. He tosses down a book onto the floor, and you give him his girlfriends' presents. The book did as promised. You can now craft with iron/golden ingots. A new man walks up to you, a man that looks old and frail. "I used to be quite the adventurer. Much like you, I dare say. As you can see, though, I have lost my strength to old age. Anyways, I went from being a swordsman and an archer, to a master potion brewer, and a wonderful enchanter. They call me Gordan Dreen, and I need your help.
OBJECTIVE: Make a diamond block for Gordan Dreen (This is the ONLY diamond thing that you can can craft. You still haven't unlocked the diamond tools.) And surround the block in lava. This is a stand for his magicking, but he says its best if you didn't get too involved in it, as it is very complicated.
The challenge: Iron and gold tools only, though I don't quite see how this is a problem. I guess I got used to saying that for every chapter. Oh well, just do the quest.
What you get when completed: The right to use potions and enchant items. Though they won't do any difference, considering you still won't be able to use diamonds...
Chapter 5- Insanity.
You sit there, panting, and then Gordan looks down at you. "Wonderful job. Now you have learned how to enchant things. I know, it takes a lot out of you, depending on how good the enchantment is. Thank you for enchanting this for me, by the way, I needed a better shovel. Now, I kno-" the earth shook. It trembled, and everything collapsed. Suddenly, a voice calls out to you. Your vision turns red, and your thoughts turn disturbed. It tells you...to kill.
OBJECTIVE: Kill the testificates. You know for a fact you've wanted to do it since day one. Hey, maybe you've already done it. Also, light all the wood on fire using flint and steel. Grief the houses too. Basically, be a griefer. Destroy it all.
The challenge: None. Just go for it.
What you get when completed: The voice promised you the power to use diamonds. And you know that that voice always wants to help you, right?
Chapter 6- Save yourself
You wake up, and instantly collapse again. Not because of exaustion, but because of the sadness that begins in your stomach and escapes through your mouth. You shout, you yell, and you sob. Nothing will bring them back though. Suddenly, the rubble begins to move. You quickly dash over, and you see the old man, Gordan, appear. His legs are twisted at odd angles. How was he the only one that survived? "Ah, Steve, good thing I was here. I managed to get that creature out of your head for you, but as you can see, I was a bit too late. I know, you feel like you are responsible, but you aren't. Sadly, it is too late for me, as I am to die in a very short amount of time. My only advice to you is: go to the Nether. The voice can't find you in there. Of course, first you'll need obsidian. And for that, you'll need diamond. I heard you talking to yourself, and you perfectly described how to make diamond equipment. Looks like the voice had its perks after all, eh?" You ask him how he knows about the voice in your head. You'd never spoken of it. When you look over, he's dead. You scream at Notch, the creator. Beg him to let you know whats going on. In response, nothing. Thats what the power of Notch gives you. Nothing. You think of just giving up, giving in to the voice, but you remember all those that died. All his fault. And you sicken yourself for even thinking about it. You get up, and go hunting for a nether portal.
OBJECTIVE: Make a nether portal.
The Challenge: You have to do it in under 5 minecraft days, because in that time the voice will come back and kill you.
What you get when completed: A trip to the nether...?
Chapter 7- Hell and back
You step back inside of hell. Back inside where your old life ended, and your new one began. Back inside where your old friends died. Back into the place that is saving your sanity. You look around, wondering what exaclty you're looking FOR, when it hits you: a potion. The potion of strength, to be exact. Because what you need is more strength of mind. You need to find nether warts and blaze powder. What you need is a nether fortress. Find it.
OBJECTIVE: Find a nether fortress, craft a brewing stand, make a strength potion.
The Challenge: Do it without dying?
What you get when completed: A brewing stand.
Chapter 8- The real story?
You come back to the real world, happy that you took the potions lesson when you did. You are now free of the voice. However, you're going to have to take the potion every month or so, unless you want to go insane again. You wonder what the next step is, when stumbling out of the portal behind you, is Ronin. The master from your old life. "Steve..." he says, his voice hoarse and broken. He sobs with happiness, the tears making lines of clean on a dusty face. He hugs you, then you ask how. "I almost died. As soon as you left, I ran, knowing you were safe. I ran all the way into a nether fortress, where I spent my days fighting blazes, farming nether warts, and, when I got hungry, killing pigmen and eating their flesh. Then, I came back to check on my nether warts, and noticed that they were all gone. I saw your footsteps leading out of the nether fortress, and I saw you running away. I thought you were just a thief, so I ran after you, chasing you with my sword. Then I noticed it was you, and I called out to you. You didn't hear me. Steve...do you remember your task?" You tell him no. "All across the world, people are going insane and killing their families and friends. Do you recall Brenda? She was a lovely girl. Her father went insane though. The person that her father was with at the time was Jorge's wife. She was brutally stabbed, many times in a row." This explained a lot to you. You wonder about Gordan, the old man, and how he knew about the voice, so you ask Ronin about it. "Gordan Dreen? There is no Gordan from our village. There never was..." This just keeps getting weirder and weirder. "Anyways, they sent their best fighters, us, into the Nether to get strength potions for everyone. Then, Anne went insane inside of the Nether. She started yelling about "The End", and we assumed she meant what we all knew, that we were all doomed. Then we realized that she was talking about a place. Ever wonder where endermen come from? The end. And we're going there now. I mean...you're going there now. You see, Steve, my only purpose in this life was to tell you about the rest of this mission and come home. There is no home. I told you the rest of your mission. My life has no purpose. It's only suffering and survival. Goodbye, Steve." Ronin stabbed himself in the chest. I was out of tears, out of sadness. I was out of feelings. I nodded, and continued my journey.
OBJECTIVE: Go to the End.
The challenge: It's challenging enough without anything else.
What you get: The final level.
Chapter 9- The real story.
You take in your surroundings. There were dozens of endermen, and strange pillars of obsidian sticking out of strange rocks that the ground was made of. Then, old man Ohras came walking up to you. You call out his name, and he walks up to you, looking you dead in the eyes. You ask why he isn't dead. You ask him how it was possible. "I have never met you until now, Steve. In fact, let me tell you the real story you have done so far. You went to a village, insane. You did false quests for people in your mind, but in reality? You were sitting in a room the entire time, muttering to yourself about your quest. Then, you went to the Nether, still insane, and you got a strength potion. And I told you that you would be free of me. I am your potions master, remember? I lied, and said that you would be free of my control. I let you go when you drank it. It was ALL just a big lie though. I needed you to come to me, Steve, because there was a prophecy of Notch that said that his true son would be supplied, by an angel, a sword of diamond. And that's just what has happened. I tried to prevent it as best I could, but Ronin found you anyways. He gave you the sword just before I could get him, then I got control of him just long enough to make up some stupid story, then have him kill himself." You ask why he made up the story, and all of this, if he could just control you and force you here. "Because it is hard for me. My mind burns whenever I take over one. It burns most of all when I'm in yours. I've noticed that the greater the mind, the harder it is to take. I can still do it though." You laugh. You laugh because he made a mistake that would cost him his life. "You, Gordan, seemed to forget one thing. You are obviously relying on the fact that you can take over my mind, but now that you've been dumb enough to explain all of this to me, my mind is clearer than it's been in a long time. So now, go ahead, try to control me. He closes his eyes, and you suddenly point the sword towards your own chest. You start to pull it closer to yourself, but he stops right before you could kill yourself. He screams in agony. Then he glares at you. "You are right. I've made a mistake. In case you haven't noticed though, I'm not human. This is merely a form that I use, because in this form, my mind is much more powerful. However, in my true form, my body is more powerul. Since I can't control you with my mind, I'll have to destroy you the old fashioned way. I like the name Gordan. Gordan Dreen. Re-arrange the letters, why don't you, you stupid fool. I don't understand why I can't control your mind, if I put something so blatantly obvious in front of it, and it hadn't even been detected. Your mind isn't great. You are an idiot, just like the rest of humanity. Always building and destroying. You deserve this. His eyes turned purple, he sprouted mighty wings from his back, and he expanded. Then, he began to fly around, a dragon.
OBJECTIVE: Kill the ender dragon.
Challenge: Do it with only your diamond sword (which is the only item you have in the story), and blocks to build straight upwards with (to represent you climbing up the obsidian towers.)
What you get: The end of minecraft.
Chapter 10- Closure
You slayed him, and a portal back to the real world opens. You think about ending yourself right here and now, as life has no meaning to you either. You feel like just killing yourself and joining all the ones you love, when suddenly, a hand comes out of the portal and pulls you in. You find yourself staring into the eyes of Notch himself. And the other creator, Jeb. And the angels, that everybody refers to as "Mojang." Notch smiles at you. Coming out of the fog, is Ronin. He speaks first. "Do not kill yourself, Steve. You are one of the last human beings on this earth. You must keep things going for humanity. Notch and Jeb and all the others in Team Mojang have granted you with the gift of immortality, unless of course, you die of natural causes. Old age, though? No. You have to keep fighting, Steve. For humanity." "We are sending you back down, Steve. We are going to erase your memory. We will start your journey over again, all over again, and you will remember nothing. You will be happy again. It will be fun." And you trust him. He sends you down.
OBJECTIVE: Make a new world.
Challenge: Play it however you'd like.
What you get: An amazing game.Leave your feedback please :biggrin.gif:

So sing a lonely song/Of a deep blue dream/Seven horses seem to be on the mark/Yeah, don't you love her/Don't you love her as she's walkin' out the door.
I was doing great at the challenge up until one point: Where I had to kill the villagers and destroy the village. I'm always alone in MC and I can't play Multiplayer, so basically the villagers 'keep me sane' in a way. I just don't have the courage to kill them.
I think that this is a great challenge, and I am trying it. Uneggspektedgaming, I think that any tools are allowed unless explicitly said otherwise, so trident is probably fine. Also, to any future readers, I would like to note that not all villages have a blacksmith, so the first challenge of 'Find an NPC village' should be 'Find an NPC village with a blacksmith'.

This was so long ago. Can i use a trident that i got off of a drowned?
I think that this is a great challenge, and I am trying it. Uneggspektedgaming, I think that any tools are allowed unless explicitly said otherwise, so trident is probably fine. Also, to any future readers, I would like to note that not all villages have a blacksmith, so the first challenge of 'Find an NPC village' should be 'Find an NPC village with a blacksmith'.
