I have to say, this is one of the best ideas I've ever heard of! I only have one suggestion. Maybe you can have texture pack cards, similar to the cards that change the field in yugioh. You could use the popular texture packs like doku, painterly, etc. I can't think of what effects these cards would have on others, though.
Minecraft the game!
You encountered a wild pig!
You equip wooden sword.
You slash pig!
It did 2 damage!
Pig did stare.
It had no effect.
You double slash pig!
It killed pig.
You got $0 and a raw porkchop.
I'd probably play and collect, just because it's Minecraft.
I gotta tell yah, these look awful. You should base it on Yu-Gi-Oh, so it'll be way easier to read.
Rollback Post to RevisionRollBack
So I was working on this really cool resource pack a while ago, but bad progress nonwithstanding, I think I found something much better... I'm probably gonna release a couple of maps soon as unrelated well.Until we meet again...
Greifer: Have your opponent spread out all of his/her block cards face down. Remove 4 from their deck. If they only have four block cards or less, remove half.
Greifer swarm: (Requires 3 or more greifer cards in play) Remove all of the opponent's block cards (except bedrock)
Water: Prevent all hostile mobs from attacking for one move.
Lava: Flip a coin. Heads, Kill all opponent's mobs that are in play. Tails, Kill all mobs in play.
Greifer trap (Would look like a block of diamond with a red X on it): Can be used before or durring a greifer card is played. All greifers that are put on the field will be banned (removed) from the playing field
Mabye you should have a Mob deck, where every turn, you could draw 1 mob card. At night, you could play a mob from your hand to attack the other player's Char card. (char instead of steve)
There could be 3 Shared decks: Surface, Underground, and nether. Surface cards would include dirt, wood and leaves, while Underground would include stuff like stone, moss stone, diamonds and bedrock. Nether cards would be stuff found in the nether.
Every turn, you could sacrafice items to draw a ceirtain amount of cards, depending on the item. The char would have the ability to draw 3 surface card per turn. The player could have the ability to craft poor items at the beggining of the game. For instance:
Crafting Recipie (Poor)
Materials: 1 wood
Add 4 wood planks to your inventory.
Crafting Recipie (Poor)
Materials: 4 wood planks
Add 1 Crafting bench block to your inventory.
Crafting Recipie (Common)
Materials: 2 sticks, 3 wood planks.
Add 1 wooden pickaxe to your inventory
Crafting recipie (poor)
materials: 2 wooden planks
Add 4 sticks to your inventory.
Those would be Crafting Cards. item cards would be like:
Used in various crafting recipies
Stacks up to 64
Can be used to draw up to 5 underground cards.
Cannot be stacked
Block cards would be like:
used in various Crafting recipies.
When placed, can be used to create any crafting recipie.
if the player's char gets killed, that player is out of the game.
landform cards: There could be a small (10x10) area in the middle of the playmat that you would put landforms in. at the beggining of the game, shuffle the landform deck. Then divide the cards up between the players evenly. Each player gets a base card, wich they place somewhere on the 10x10 area. then the players take turns placing landforms face down. No player should ever look at landform until thay are supposed to. When the game has started, flip over all landforms. This is to simulate the random spawning of the terrain.
