Mission: Wasteland
Chapter 1
=================================================================================================
I watched as the Hound transport made a vertical takeoff, then as the engines turned horizontal and rocketed to speeds that would kill a regular civilian if one was on board. The transport briefly made a neon-green streak in the sky that made the wasteland around me look even more barren for a second. It only took less than a second for any trace of the transport was ever there, only a great boom that shook the ground around me two seconds later.
I looked around at the land around me in detail for the first time. It would look quite beautiful if it all wasn’t just dirt. It was a hilly region, probably for a majority of the area. To the north of me was a giant wall made of, what us biologists call, cheap indestructibleness, or churct for short. The wall went on for a kilometer in either direction until it made a corner. This wall made up the boundaries of one of the thousands of biomes kept on this space station, each a couple of kilometers wide. The one I was in used to be a forest, but something was introduced that turned it into a wasteland. That’s why I’m here. I find it odd that they would put an undergraduate studying for his PhD in xenobiology into a supersoldier’s body to find the cause of this occurrence. The people who found me said that I was one of the only few xenobiologists with experience with guns and survival skills, and the rest were off somewhere studying creatures with explosive exoskeletons. Those traits needed for this job worried me somewhat, but whatever pays the university loans.
I took note of the surroundings, noticing a couple of areas full of sand off to the distance. They had a large yet shallow area of dirt in between them, dropping off steeply near the wall. I would have guessed that it used to be a beach for a lake, but then it was wiped out with all the other life in this box. Remembering where it was I started off towards the southeastern corner of the box. After a few moments of walking, the artificial sun that was lighting this sector of biome-boxes started to leave on its track like a train. It was getting steadily darker every moment, but I wasn’t worried. The supersoldier body I was currently in control of had the ability to amplify any source of light, allowing it to see in the dark. It only took a minute for the sun to disappear, to be replaced again by one of the other five artificial suns in about ten hours.
I kept on walking on, only to be stopped by a life form off in the distance. It was white and had the shape of a human skeleton, ribs and all. This was obviously a mutant organism. I knew that these “skeletons” shot arrow-like projectiles, and are quite aggressive. But this one was off in the distance to my left so he wouldn’t be much of a problem. As I kept on walking I wondered how the skeleton was able to get in, for this biome box wasn’t created to support mutants. Then I noticed a giant spider off to the distance. In fact I noticed it had a friend, a skinny green organism about as tall as me. It was a common non-humanoid mutant that was nick-named Creeper, due to the fact it was silent. The giant spider I didn’t worry about because they’re quite common even outside non-mutant supporting biomes, but I didn’t want to get to close because it was a well known fact that Creepers explode.
After another minute of walking, I came across a pack of spiders and skeletons in the distance. At this point I realized that I wasn’t informed on something during my debriefing, for there were far too many mutants in this box biome for it not to be noticed. Then I heard it. The heart sickening screech that always meant one thing: Shredders. I knew that screech from an artificial organism safety course I took in my first year in the university. They showed one to everyone, and all I could remember were the arms of that Shredder ended with long 5 foot blades for hands, and that its body was humanoid in shape, but took pitch black as an entire color for its body. After that I remembered that the day didn’t end well for anyone.
The reality of the situation hit me hard. I looked around for the absence of light that a Shredder will generate during night. No night vision could see through that shroud of death. Thankfully, I was on the top of a hill and I couldn’t see it. Adrenalin rushing through my body, I quickly dug a deep hole below me. Because of my superhuman body I was able to clear away all the dirt till I hit rock in less than ten seconds, and I jumped in and closed the top with a boulder not beyond arm’s reach in less than two.
95% of teens would scream if Justin Beiber was about to jump off the top of the Empire State Building. If you are in the 5% that would grab a seat and some popcorn and yell JUMP! JUMP! JUMP! post this in your sig.

Give diamonds please?
EDIT: Are you gonna update?
I may update. This first part took me less than an hour to write. Just haven't thought about it lately.
Grrrrrrrrrrrr! It's a shredder!
