Looking for a server with a setup similar to MindCrack's, where multiple players are spawned in a 2km x 2km world with the intent of being the last man standing. There's no health regeneration by having a full food bar, only by eating golden apples, glistering melons, or health regen potions.
Those are just a few of the rules, this video is an example of what I'm thinking of:
The only difficulty with this would be coordinating 8-12 players to be able to play for ~3 hours straight while recording their games (preferably with commentary). Recording would be useful to see other players perspectives, as well as to make sure no players are dishonoring the rules (many rules are on the honor system).
I think it's a really cool idea, a lot like the hunger games, but with a lot more risk in taking damage. If anyone's interested or can supply a server (and who knows how to run whatever mod is used) please reply in the comments.
I'm actually looking to run a server like this, I've got the setup & everything going, but I need to see how many players I can host with it being lag free. The server is a slightly older Model Pentium 4 with 2GB RAM running Ubunutu Server command prompt only (recently upgraded to 12.04 precise) however the internet connection is quite fast (it's in the server room of my company ) & it's a dedicated box running nothing else.
I'll probably use this Forum some time this week to just invite players in order to give it a good hammering to see what its limits are, before I can host something 'official'. If you're interested, get in touch.
A bit about myself: been working with IT for nearly 20 years (starting with a 286 in 1991 or so, as a kid with games such as Wolfenstein, LHX etc. and about 11 years in a professional capacity), so know what I'm doing & I've been a Minecraft player for about 2 1/2 years.
Not sure if this is something you're looking for, but I run a ultra hardcore server that is near vanilla. It runs ongoing competitions that last for days to see who obtains a high number of kills or obtains the dragon egg. After somebody wins the map is reset.
