has anyone one read "The Art of War: A Dissertation of Warfare in Minecraft"? As soon as i finished reading that, i instantly became jealous. With all the tnt cannon fights, and base raids, this was the stuff of my dreams. What i don't mean by war servers, however, are large-scale, gun-and-plane mod Buildcraft servers. I can't be bothered to download anything big. I just want a vanilla war server. Does anyone know any war servers?

There are issues with TNT/Cannon fights for a lot of servers. It's massively lag for one. For another it makes the environment somewhat ugly.
I'm sure there are some servers for this, I just don't know of any.

A full levelling system, mcMMO provides levels for almost all skills. (Fighting skills are off for balance)
Breakable obsidian! This prevents players from building indestructible bases. Obsidian breaks after 4 hits of TNT.
An economy system that allows you to buy/sell items, do all sorts of trading, enter the lottery and buy spawners.
Factions! Create or join a faction to claim land as your own!
Vampires! Become a vampire to have new skills like jumping with bones.
Set a bounty on a player or kill a player with a bounty to collect your reward.
Arrows have a 10% chance to strike your target with lighting.
