What is the definition of “Powergaming”?: I generally interpret powergaming as using known information about the gamesystem in order to maximise one aspect of a character (e.g. heavily training combat prowess). However, your definition is different, though also relevant and important. It refers to stating both action and final effect. E.g. "I swing my sword, hitting the throat and killing you". It's better to allow the other player to react.
What is the definition of “Metagaming”?: Using information which a player has, but their character shouldn't have.
What is the definition of “Roleplay”?: Playing the role of an imaginary character in another set of circumstances. Typically requires human interaction.
Who can use flymod, X-ray and other such clientsided mods?: Not me.
When are you allowed to cause the death of another character?: Organised, roleplayed fights.
When are you allowed to speak out of character?: In the out-of-character chat "/ch o", or using double parentheses.
Do you have any previous RP experience, Minecraft or elsewhere? Yes, I've done pen-and-paper roleplay (D&D, MERP, Vampire the Masquerade, Shadowrun). But I haven't done any roleplay in a few years.
Character Information
Name: Eduardo
Age: 22
Class: Miner/Rogue.
Physical description: Slightly below average height. Mining for pretties has left him quite muscular, but he obviously skips leg day. Typically dressed in fairly plain clothes, which, like his face, are often quite dirty.
Biography (Minimum 300 words. No clichés such as loved one being killed by robbers or the like.):
Eduardo was born and raised in the lower class, and while his parents didn't struggle to put food on the table for their three children, they didn't have excess wealth. New clothes were a rarity, with his mother, Carlotta, regularly patching and modifying older clothes. His father, Dante, was a miner, and Eduardo would occasionally visit the mine as a child. It was there that he was shown some of the precious stones, which he immediately fell in love with. When he was old enough, he followed in his father's footsteps, but soon realised some of the realities of mining: that those precious stones he adored as a child, were incredibly rare - especially in an iron mine. When the character heard about the journey to the new lands, he jumped at the possibility of finding all kinds of 'pretties'. He has two siblings: a brother, Gustavo, who also went into mining, and a sister, who married a farmer.
In terms of his love life, Eduardo had a few girlfriends over the years, but nothing which lasted particularly long. He has a preference for blonde women with blue eyes.
On a few occasions, Eduardo has used some slightly underhanded tactics to trick people regarding the value of precious stones in order to get his hands on some, but he has also been tricked by others who have taken advantage of his desires. As such, he doesn't have much wealth, and is trading it to finance the journey to the new lands. He has come to the new settlement in the hopes of being one of the first miners to get at the gemstones held by that part of the earth. While Eduardo is vaguely aware that going on this journey will force him to fend for himself, he doesn't have a good grasp of just how much support he previously had, which will now be lacking. He lived with his parents up to the day when he left for the big journey, so he doesn't yet realise the difficulties in obtaining everyday things in a frontier environment.
What is your character’s main goal? (Motivation): He is like a magpie - he's strongly attracted to shiny things like gemstones (normal in-game emeralds, diamonds, lapis lazuli and redstone. Gold and iron are lesser interests).
Strengths (Both physical and personality): Physically quite strong from mining, but obviously skips leg day. Can devise cunning schemes - even somewhat manipulative - if he thinks he can obtain minerals from it (though not outright theft).
Weaknesses (Balance out yours character's strengths with suitable weaknesses. Not knowing how to do something that is outside of your class is not a weakness. I.E. Not knowing how to use a bow as a miner.):
He can be almost single-minded in his desire for gemstones etc. Other characters who notice this will probably be able to take advantage of this desire when trading. In terms of combat, he's not particularly interested, so (if/when able) he is likely to choose gold combat equipment for aesthetics over the functional value of other armours. When deliberately engaging in combat or mining, he would avoid damaging his precious metal equipment, using stone tools instead.
In-Character-Responses (ICRs. For each scenario, write at least a paragraph describing entirely in-character how your character would respond to the situation. Your ICRs will be used to see how well you can RP. Please post them as if in IC chat. An example can be found after this form.)
Due a recent accident, you wander the dark quiet streets of the town with a broken ankle trying to make your way home:
I look around for somewhere reasonably safe from attack - preferably something like a tavern, but he would seek an alley or alcove. ((The limitation of number of attack directions is comforting, despite also limiting his exits.))
Upon reaching the perceived safer location, I assess the situation: immediate threats, the wound, help & equipment available, my location and destination. ((Darkness isn't perceived as a danger - rather, he is in his element in the dark. Through the years, he's learned how to use his hearing and subtle visual clues to be aware of his surroundings.))
In a tavern, a stranger threatens you to fight him/her:
I stand up and turn to face the stranger, almost oblivious to knocking down the chair as I do so. I step up into close proximity to the stranger, making it quite obvious how well built I am. I get right up in the stranger's face and gruffly say "I think you've chosen the wrong man to tango with."
((While he's not a skilled fighter, Eduardo has learned that his physical stature is somewhat intimidating. He reasons that most strangers will back down from a fight if he appears willing and able to kick their butt. While this doesn't always work, and he is usually beaten if the stranger insists, he is often with friends who ensure the fight stays fair. ))
Your superior asks for a favour you would have problem doing:
I simply respond with a positive "Yes, sir." I pause briefly to await any further instructions. Once any instructions have been given, I turn and walk in the direction of the task. Once out of sight, I seek counsel from a close friend or family member - or failing that, just another miner who is reasinably trustworthy.
((Eduardo reasons that if he is in his superiors' good books, he would be more likely to be chosen for things like promotion, or merely the ability to dig in some of the extremes of the mine - where he would be more likely to come across 'pretties'. He hasn't really considered the difficulties he will encounter in the new land, or how he will deal with them without his support network.))

Our sincerest apologies for the inconvenience. The whitelister who accepted you dun goofed and forgot to add you to the whitelist. This was remedied mere minutes after your last attempt to log on. Again, sorry about that! Feel free to log on whenever
While there were a few small problems with this app, overall, I quite enjoyed reading it, and the quality of your writing trumped the tiny errors. Remember, you'll have to fill out a VAA every time you'd like to deceive someone, if it'll negatively effect them. The VAA is VERY short, though, so I doubt you'll ever have a problem with that. Congrats, I'll add you to the whitelist, and can't wait to see you server-side!

What is the definition of “Powergaming”?:
Powergaming is any type of roleplay in which the offender takes control of another persons character, without the other characters consent and/or knowledge. Essentially, no player can ever define what a character is or isn't; a player has a right to determine how their character lives and acts within the world. The Staff is able to tell someone what there character is not, but they cannot define a character beyond limiting it. So no 10 foot tall monsters that deal a million damage.
What is the definition of “Metagaming”?:
Metagaming is using any unreasonable amount of outside knowledge to influence the RP when your character would otherwise not know. This includes using minecraft physics; building a mob farm is metagaming just as much as using knowledge about a plot your character could not possibly know about. It is generally discouraged if your character would have no feasible way of knowing it. If you have to pause and think about how your character could possibly know this, and in the end need to pull a very convoluted reason out of your ass, it is metagaming and you should not do that.
What is the definition of “Roleplay”?:
Roleplay is basically the word it stands by. A man or woman would pick a certain role, and act as that role to simulate a situation or point of view. People also use this both in real life and on the internet. The character sets a certain personality, social setup, or informational sheet on who their character is, and enters the play acting as that same character and using how he/she would react in a situation, say if someone was mean and grumpy,
Man:Hey, old person, I stole your hat!
Other player: You no good two timin' thief! Give it back!
And so on and so forth!
Who can use flymod, X-ray and other such clientsided mods?:
Nobody, to be fair to the other players of the community
When are you allowed to cause the death of another character?:
Only when said player agrees
When are you allowed to speak out of character?:
((Only when you put double parentheses around them or when speaking in the OOC channel))
Do you have any previous RP experience, Minecraft or elsewhere?
I dabble in many minecraft roleplay servers and used to rp a bit on World of Warcraft. My rp experience also extends to that on different websites and forums.
Character Information
Name:
Annie Lee
Age:
21
Class:
Woodsman/Craftsmen
Physical description:
Annie is rather short for her age reaching only about 5' 4" in height. In terms of body type she appears thin and tired. Dark circles under her eyes and an overall hazy expression. She has long, wavy, messy hair with a rose pinned above her ear. Face speckled with freckles and dirt. Pale green eyes with a long sleeve shirt to match. Brown, fur vest and leg warmers covering her boots. She also wears an emerald amulet as a funny little trinket.
Screen capture of your skin:
Biography:
Annie was a poor child in the wilds. Born as an only child, Annie never had any reason to speak. Her father was a fisherman, her mother a farm woman. They both worked late hours just to keep warm food and a roof over their heads, so interaction with their daughter had never really happened. It was only until her eighth birthday that she had figured out that she couldn't talk. Since her parents had taken both of their days working off, they decided to celebrate with their daughter. They tried the traditional birthday carol, Annie made not a peep.
They cheered in celebration, nothing had been heard from Annie the whole day. Her parents questioned her on the sudden silence, even though it was never really sudden. Annie tried to the best of her ability to explain, but no words could be heard from her lips. Her parents were horribly confused, when they used their rainy day funds to check out what was wrong with her, it was found that she, in fact, COULDN'T speak. No matter how hard she tried, the only thing that came out of her mouth was the wind, rushing out of her lungs.
With their new found muted daughter, Annie's parents decided to make up their own set of motions to use as, what they called, literal body language. They understood each other through this method, and interaction with Annie somewhat increased since then. After awhile little more than the flick of a hand was needed before they understood each other. It brought them closer together, they lived on like this until one day..
It was a normal day, unlike any other. Annie was older now, almost 20. It was a silly age to be still living with your parents, but she had no choice. What job was there that would take a mute girl such as herself? She wasn't strong, so black smithing or mercenary work was out. Alchemy provided a potential hazard on account of she couldn't call for help if needed. It seemed like she wasn't able to take any job that was available to her. Unfortunately, her parents couldn't keep her in the house on account of financial issues, and had to send her out on the road.
It wasn't horrible, though. They sent her with one of her father's friend's horses and a good saddle-bag of food and drink that they had saved up for just such an occasion. She was truly traveling in comfort. Along the road she never spoke to anyone, she didn't really need to. She ignored them, and they ignored her. Annie traveled the land for a good year through land and sea before she arrived in a new region ripe with opportunity. Riddles with ruins and areas for colonization. Of course at first she wasn't sure if this was in fact the right place for her, but she would take a gamble see what the land had in store.
Now she takes a keen interest in the buildings and gatherings of people in many areas around this land. Annie only hopes she can start making a living even with her handicap. Her main focus lies in wood work, where she loves creating furniture or figures, even charms for traveling explorers or townsfolk. This new land may not just be as barren as it used to seem.
What is your character’s main goal? (Motivation):
Annie only wishes to lead an average life with a well paying job. She feels that is a reasonable aspiration. But if given the chance she would go exploring and chart new areas. However, she feels this is not for her, and sadly has given up the dream long ago.
Strengths:
Generous, is very level-headed and optimistic, she can diffuse most fights others can-not, even with her life silence. She is also quick and agile. She can be skilled with light weapons, but nothing heavier than a light dagger or nail hammer.
Weaknesses:
Annie can't speak like any other normal person, she must express words either through pencil and paper or body language. She can't put up a good fight either. Too trusting, generous, and easily manipulated.
In-Character-Responses
Due a recent accident, you wander the dark quiet streets of the town with a broken ankle trying to make your way home:
Annie limped along with a hand resting against the wall. Scolding herself mentally for her past accident. Apparently climbing into the trees to cut the higher branches wasn't such a good idea. Her ankle was a result of the incident. Sucking in a sharp breath as she bumped her injured ankle turning the corner of the walk. Nails clawing at the stone in response to the sharp pain that split up her leg. How was she even to get home? She couldn't call or ask for help and it was too hard to see even with the torchlight. Half tempted to knock on a door and try to get a place to stay she wandered. Maybe the alleyways wouldn't be so bad? If you didn't count the amounts of cutthroats and thieves that could be lurking about. Shaking the idea out of her head she looked up almost hopelessly, what was there to do?
In a tavern, a stranger threatens you to fight him/her:
Annie could barely make out what the fellow next to her was saying. Raising a brow at the supposedly violent drunkard she shook her head and backed off. Leaning back against the counter and writing in her speech-book with haste. She needed a room to stay after the horrific night before of just hobbling around with a broken ankle. Suddenly caught off guard as she was lifted off her feet by the rowdy stranger. Annie kicked her one good leg at nothing in particular, thankfully hitting something. As she was let down she looked over to find the larger man holding his crotch. Feeling a nervous shudder she leaned back over, packed up her things and hobbled out. There were always other places to ask and after that little episode she was determined to make herself scarce.
Your superior asks for a favour you would have problem doing:
Annie looked about for any other targets the superior could have asked. The girl didn't exactly seem the type for the job he was explaining. Annie was thin, lanky, and over all she looked weak. Giving a questioning glance to the higher up she pointed to herself. The resulting not made her gulp slightly. It seemed to involve some sneaky work. Everything the favour called for sounded down-right illegal. Just as soon as she shook her head the superior drew his sword on her. Raising her arms she backed away slowly. Corruption seemed a common thing within the town she stayed currently. But it looked like she had no choice as the fellow was advancing quickly. Changing her mind with another nervous gulp she nodded. Thankfully he seemed stupid enough to let her go on the job unsupervised. So Annie took the first chance she could and skipped town on the back of a stolen horse. Hopefully it wouldn't be missed, she needed the aid but the guilt was almost overbearing. At least she got away with her life, for now.

What is the definition of “Powergaming”?: Powergaming is the act of making one's character as overpowered as humanly (or in this case, in-humanly) possible. Example of which can be more extreme where one will defeat the entire army of hell with nothing but a spork and a kick-ass pair jeans or less extreme where one just forces an action on another player.
What is the definition of “Metagaming”?: Metagaming falls onto one of the most used "sins" of roleplay (I love inside jokes). Metagaming, otherwise known as meta, is the act of gathering information out-of-character to use in-character; either it be knowing the location of an enemy or a certain characteristic of another's character that was, until that point, kept secret.
What is the definition of “Roleplay”?: As there are several definitions of "Roleplay" floating around the internet; to me, roleplay is the act of becoming another person or character in either a fantasy world on pen and paper or in a cyber-fantasy world in a game and acting out certain actions or choices as if the creator was the character him/herself.
Who can use flymod, X-ray and other such clientsided mods?: A blatantly obvious answer for a violently obvious question: Bloody no-one.
When are you allowed to cause the death of another character?: Only with the connect of the other player, and only if you have a valid reason or a VA that permits you to do so.
When are you allowed to speak out of character?: When chatting in the OOC channel and when asking another a question in the middle of an Rp, I'd imagine.
Do you have any previous RP experience, Minecraft or elsewhere?: Several different servers and one mmo, actually. The servers include Fallout: Wild Wasteland, Fallout: Echo's of Mankind, Era of the Vanguard, Roleplay Revolution (I wonder what happened to this one...) and the server Ebon Hawk on Star Wars, the Old Republic.
Character Information
Name: Felix Adami
Age: 26
Class: Miner/Rogue
Physical description: Felix stands at a slightly abnormal six feet in height and has a hard, solemn face of a man who as seen a lot in his life. He has short, dark brown hair and green eyes.
Biography: Felix's childhood was far from, if not exactly the opposite, that of the average. He was born into a little-known guild of assassins and thieves known as the Black Talon to, ironically, an assassin father and a thief mother. When the young Felix reached the age of six, the guild master took him under his wing and began teaching him the arts of stealth, escaping, and killing. When he was twelve, he was inducted into the ranks of his new family and proudly bore the guild's emblem on his right hand. Unfortunately, he couldn't be happier.
That is, until he met a revelation. Five years later, Felix was tasked with the job of assassinating a local business man. He gladly took on the job, asking nothing regarding the mission besides the location of the target, and slipped into the night. The kill, as he planned, was to be quick, efficient, and untraceable. However this was not the case. The merchant woke as Felix pricked him with a needle laced with a slow-acting yet highly lethal poison.
The merchant studied the still-young assassin with eyes that seemed to bore right through Felix. After a slight pause, he calmly asked why. Felix started the chuckle and said that it was only business, and slipped off into the night. The next day, he returned to the scene of the crime to confirm the kill. He watched silently from the shadows as the town guard carried out his target's body and smiled, congratulating himself on the success.
As Felix turned to leave, he spotted a hooded figure in the crowd of people gathered at the scene. Normally this would be something to simply ignore, but he noticed something about the mysterious person. The figure was staring directly at him. Heart racing, Felix uttered a small curse and bolted down the ally with the figure hot on his heels. The chase didn't last long, as the young assassin got himself cornered in an attempt to hide in what he thought was a tunnel leading to the main road. He turned to face the figure, reaching for a knife that he kept under the sleeve of his coat.
Then the figure pulled off his hood, and Felix found himself staring at a young girl. She was around his own age, and shockingly resembled the merchant from the night before. Her eyes bore down on the young assassin with a determined hate. She let out a cry of rage and clumsily charged at the assassin with a sax knife. Felix swung his hand to defend himself, knocking the blade from her hand but getting a nasty cut across the tattoo of the guild's emblem. The girl fell to her knees and broke down in tears, begging him for an answer to why he had killed her father. He was shocked at the sight, and turned to run.
Felix watched the girl for the remainder of the month. He silently followed her as she was placed into an orphanage, as she spent many sleepless nights in tears, and as she went about her days with an almost emotionless air around her. The assassin, out of curiosity, returned to the scenes of his other target's deaths and found the same effect with their families. He wondered why, as he was brought up to think that he was doing was for the better of others.
The young assassin began to question the guild and himself. He started to notice the signs of sadness as precious items were stolen from homes or vaults, and feelings of hate from the families of the people the guild had killed. He learned what he had done was truly wrong. He became filled with hate; he hated the guild that had raised him to believe lie after lie, he hated the guild leader for leading him down a dark and bloody path, and he hated himself for being tricked into letting his hands become stained with blood.
Two years later, he vanished from the ranks of the guild. Some say he stowed away on a merchant's ship, while others say he thrown himself off of the castle's highest tower. Not a word was heard from him until an inn keeper told of a strange man with an odd tattoo on his right hand. The inn keeper said that the man claimed it simply served as a grim reminder of what he once was, and what he no longer wished to be.
What is your character’s main goal?: To redeem his past wrongdoings and find a new purpose in his life.
Strengths: Felix is strong physically and can make a decent attempt at reasoning with others. He is capable of fighting one-on-one battles and dealing with his problems head on, all while staying calm and focused on the target and his surroundings.
Weaknesses: While strong in a physical standpoint, Felix is morally confused. He has a hard time deciding between right and wrong, often leading him to chose a more isolated lifestyle.
In-Character-Responses (ICRs. For each scenario, write at least a paragraph describing entirely in-character how your character would respond to the situation. Your ICRs will be used to see how well you can RP. Please post them as if in IC chat. An example can be found after this form.)
Due a recent accident, you wander the dark quiet streets of the town with a broken ankle trying to make your way home: Felix curses the fact that he didn't notice the loose cobble stone, or the large slope next to the road. He hobbles into a healers hut, and pays him/her to quickly fix his ankle and forget that they even saw/met him.
In a tavern, a stranger threatens you to fight him/her: After listening to the rather unintelligent challenge from the obviously drunk stranger, he would calmly study both the man and the room. If the conditions are to his liking, he would fight the man, aiming to disable him long enough to slip away. If the conditions are the exact opposite, he could do his best to cause a distraction to buy him time to both slip away, and get a reasonable distance away from the town.
Your superior asks for a favour you would have problem doing: Felix would respectably apologize and explain why he cannot complete the favor asked. He would then point out another subordinate he would could easily do the task.

Hello! I was wondering which class, if any, would best fit a fisherman, and how the fishing mechanics work on your server. Thank you!
Hi there! :3 Personally, I'd have to say that Craftsmen Farmer would be the best class to go. Currently, catching a fish costs 8 production points, (Kinda pricey, I know.) but it'd be well worth it since we currently don't have any fishermen, or fisherwomen on the server. Plus you'll make bank selling the fish. Craftsmen is master class, in all honesty. It fits a wide spectrum of things. My character is a craftsmen but in game she's a blacksmith.
This app was fairly good, and close to an accept, but there were some things that bothered me enough that I couldn't let it slip by. Firstly, the classes. He's a rogue, great, that makes sense due to your character's background. But I can't see ANY justification for having him be a Miner. Now, you've got several options: You can either change the backstory to fit his class, or you can change the class to fit the backstory.
Secondly, his strengths and weaknesses are VERY imbalanced. He seems to have, essentially, no visible, physical weakness. I mean, it's one hand to be good at combat, but then to have no drawbacks besides a social one is VERY unbalanced. The generic weaknesses given are the trade-off ones of "fast but not strong", or "strong but not fast", but you've got far more wiggle room. Perhaps you can emphasize that, while he was trained to assassinate, he isn't strong in actually fair combat, or something similar. I'm sure you'll think of something.
Last, but certainly not least, are your ICRs. You don't simply have to control the character, control the SITUATION at large. What's the favor that your character has a problem with, how did they get through the trip to the healer, exactly how was that drunk acting? It is possible to have passable ICRs in the format that you did them in, however, you'll get much better length and quality if you type more about the situation.
Last, but not least, while you are certainly allowed to use More Player Models, most of our players do NOT, so don't expect many people to actually see how you look.

Biography:
Strengths:
Weaknesses:
Annie can't speak like any other normal person, she must express words either through pencil and paper or body language. She can't put up a good fight either. Too trusting, generous, and easily manipulated.

Screen capture of your skin: http://gyazo.com/5d776e146f5089a6dfab786c4eea7577

Hi there! :3 Personally, I'd have to say that
CraftsmenFarmer would be the best class to go. My character is a craftsmen but in game she's a blacksmith.Xtronify
