One could say that Dunmel is ordinary, at least for an RPG server. But I like to think that we're a little special, for a few reasons. To start, we have our own lore, back-story, creation myth, and pantheon of gods. And our map is custom made, from the twisted icy peaks of mountains to the rolling desert planes of the Equalon desert.
We have a low player cap. We want to be able to pay attention to you - that's a little difficult when there are 100 people online who are all asking for pork-chops. Only twenty people are allowed on at a time.
The Dunmel server is actually set on the archipelago of Montvonde - a collection of huge islands, each with its own culture and biome. Explore caverns underground, build a castle on a plateau or in the deep woods. Look for adventure in the Rivermouth swamp or hike in the Delver Mountains.
Our spawn point is no labyrinth - on other server, their spawn point is in a castle or dungeon that you have to get out of. Our spawn point is in the ruins of a small shack in the middle of Delver Valley, gateway to everything else in the server. Our Factions plugin makes it easy to claim land and wage war or peace with other factions on the server.
Oh, and our moderators aren't moderators. When a player gains seniority and trust, they will be nominated for consideration to become a god or goddess. That's how Nathura became a god, by the way. See our Outlook, Narrative, and Lore below.
- NARRATIVE -
"Nothing," said Caesar Marcium fondly, sliding the oars into the hooked iron oarlocks. He laced his fingers over the side of the boat.
"What do you mean, nothing?" asked Parnassus irritably. He was still rowing, and the humidity seemed to be getting to him. The river had narrowed since they entered the bay.
Caesar stretched. "No civilization. It makes Dunmel look like a cosmopolitan wonderland. Everything here is so... pristine."
Parnassus took a moment to study the land they were passing by. To the west was a great desert, to the east was a noble forest. In the northwest, there was a bluish mountain range, overshadowed by a collection of thunderclouds. "Quaint."
"Just think," mused Caesar. "This place has no gods nor people, all of which perished thousands of years ago. Pure."
"Fantastic," grumbled Parnassus sardonically. "You could help rowing."
"I could," Caesar agreed blithely. "Let's call this place Montvonde. A bit of mountain and some good old vonde."
They beached the boat on a sandbar and at once saw only possibility. Caesar put on his Byasvonde Legion cap and drew his sword. "Welcome to Montvonde."
- OUTLOOK -
Dunmel is all about roleplay and freedom. Become a mage, bandit, rogue, legion soldier, fallen god, werewolf, or even a member of the mysterious Thauver. Become a Republique legionnaire, Bloodreath wanderer, or an alchemist in New Alexandria city. The possibilities are endless, like they're supposed to be.
- LORE -
Montvonde island has a deep history. As it was, Caesar was incorrect. Roughly three thousand years ago a civilization called Alasantine ruled the Montvonde archipelago. It was a sour kingdom, ruled by corrupted monarchs and it was worked by slaves. Yet it was sprawling, and it lasted longer than the Roman Empire.
The evil so daily committed by this nation did not go unnoticed by Alasantine's chief god, Orel. Orel decided alone that he was to strike down the nation. And so he did.
For five days death washed up on Montvonde's shores. Plague literally ripped through cities, and revenants and wraiths tore through the bodies of the living. After a week, Alasantine was finished. Orel was not done. To destroy every remnant of civilization, he sacrificed his very life force to wipe clean the land. And all was done.
Now, three thousand years later, people are washing up on empty shores, searching for a new life. And they have found it.
-WAY TO PLAY-
There are two ways to play Dunmel.
1. Apply on this very page, therefore playing as an immigrant from other places. You are alone at first, and are free to do whatever you wish.
2. Apply on our Nations post, where you can choose a nation that you can join. Joining a nation gets you more benefits, and if that faction is an ally of Byasvonde, we will supply you with provisions periodically. Get more details by clicking the fancy blue word "Nations".
-RULES-
These rules are malleable. But break them one too many times will result in your ban. So read them carefully.
1. Absolutely no sexism or racism. Breaking this will result in an instant ban.
2. Do not destroy without reason. However, if you're destroying a faction's base and they've wronged you somehow, you're free to pay them back as you wish.
3. Put the words "To Montvonde I come" in your whitelist application. It's the only real way to get on the server.
4. Respect your superiors. Badmouthing an admin could lead to lightning splitting your mortal skull.
5. No cheats or hacks of any kind. I personally will track you down and ban you from the face of the Earth. Screwing up your own experience on the server is something you can prevent, amazingly.
6. Faction names and RP names need to be lore friendly.

They had picked all the locks and told him to get up.After so, they explained what was happening. They had been watching him steal for a while and wanted him in their organization. He agreed after making sure he would be free to keep what he stole. They took him to the sewers where they resided and began to teach him all he knows today about theivery. They made sure he focused on the way he speaks to others and his skill of stealing. The way he spoke was important so he could get out of trouble or talk someone into doing something for him. The last anyone has ever heard of him is when he escaped from the royal prison after a failed attempt at stealing the king's crown and sceptre. The last words anyone heard from him were"To Montvonde I come".

Tiras Septimus and Elijah Black, welcome to Montvonde. As the gods decree, your fate will be up to you, which they seem to think is funny. I wish you the best of luck in your endeavors. And Eli, it is nice to know that you seek to revive Alasantine. They have not seen a worthy king in millennia.
