Questions: Is there a lot of competition between classes? (i.e if I were to become a mayor, would I be fighting other towns/cities for members?) Besides the Savage Realms website, is there any tutoring/help for newcomers?

Yes there is some competition that goes on when trying to recruit players for a Town, and some things that goes into that is the Amount of Taxes, plots avaliable, How nice and friendly the town is, etc. But, there is almost always people in need of a town. And if you need help just ask in-game. The Helpers or other Staff can give you a tour and answer any questions you have
Can you ban Welo and the rest of his faction. He was getting into our chests through a block.
