I think that hiring more modmins may help to alleviate the problem of meeting player's demands, but it doesn't really address the core issue here.
As Omega pointed out, it's difficult for modmins to meet player's demands if they are being rude, lack social courtesy, spamming the chat, etc... It's even more difficult when the modmins are consistently outnumbered by members/trusted by a factor of 35 to 1. Thus whenever a modmin enters the server, they are immediately bombarded with multiple requests in a matter of seconds. It's like being a substitute teacher and trying to tell a class of 35 rowdy 1st graders to settle down. It's hard work and may be discouraging at times (this is from my general observation, I've never been a modmin).
Keystone Creative is a 24/7 public server, which means that anyone can join the server at anytime. It is almost impossible to ensure that there is at least one modmin on for 24 hours straight, since people have a life and there are time zone issues. Like any other public server, Keystone Creative has a huge range of ages, personalities, and maturity levels. I think it's wonderful that so many different people can come together to play one game. But at the same time, conflicts and issues can arise.
I think it's fair to ask that members, trusted, and donators do their best to respect the rules and treat everyone fairly.

Agreed. 40 people, one modmin, just imagine for a second. demonic__Angel joins the game whilst there's no modmins on, I decide to work a little bit on my house, my first house that I'm even building (I obviously don't build often), but within seconds, I realize that I'm not going to be able to do that. Constant spamming of both rude and polite requests for placements, protects (which obviously, as a mod, I can not do), and especially items.
Being 1 of 2/3 mods or the only mod on sometimes, protect requests are at an extremely high rate, and they can't be done. A lot of the time when there's a grief or spammer in game, we ask an admin to hop on and ban/roll them real quick. But as soon as they leave the game, more protection requests come in. I feel as if the fact of the matter is that not enough people are able to get their stuff protected, which makes us more prone to grief. In a griefing video that someone posted of the server, at the end, they put "Thank you s.keymc.me for leaving all these builds unprotected".
All in all, I don't think hiring a few more modmins is the worst idea. One modmin on among 40 players works, but is extremely overwhelming, and I personally would love to have more modmins on to help balance this out, I don't know about you guys.
This is all just my opinion, and what I think could be done to help balance things out, and ensure enjoyment for ALL players on the server. And yes, everyone has lives as Fire said, we can't expect modmins to dedicate their lives to a video game, because I know that's not how I want to live or I'm pretty sure any others do.
Note: There will always be times, no matter how many modmins we have, that modmins are not online. When situations arise, its no less than 10-60min before one comes on to solve it. This is why some of us shared contact information, why we use skype, to communicate better when issues come up within the server.
Hey, so I need another piece of something I'm making moved again if it wouldn't be too much trouble.
This is what I'm working on for fireslug's contest, and if you could, move the top half down one block. there are two blocks in between the halves, but for the sake of symmetry, i need it to just be one block. Went ahead and marked out the corners of the half to me moved with obsidian. Thanks a ton!

This is very true, in my opinion I wouldn't mind seeing another mod election, although we've had a lot recently. When there are 2-3 mods on, it's perfect. But that's only for a small time in each day. Multiple mods on allow separation between the responsibilities of mods. Another mod or 2 would help balance this more time throughout the average day so that as mods we would all be able to build a little bit, instead of always be doing everything.
I think the main reason for the lack of Modmins at the moment is Motivation. It used to be that every request was well formed, polite and the person was patient. Now it consists of pretty much
Player: Need wool
Modmin: There you go, please use manners in the future :smile.gif:
Player: kk
[5 minutes]
Player: Need more wool, admin
Modmin: You have /more, and please call me by my name
Player: oh kk, pl0x send me some more wool
[10 minutes]
Player: Admin, protect
Player: Admin!
Player: ADMIN!
Player: OMG STOP IGNORING ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
[Kicked for spam, caps]
This is a very common example, and honestly its annoying as anything. I Enjoy helping people, but only when they deserve it, and really the main thing that decides it for me is manners
I dont think we need anymore modmins JUST yet, we just need to treat eachother with a bit more respect, this will work both ways. When players are polite, patient and accepting that we arnt perfect, then that will put ALL modmins in a happier mood, more willing to help with things (Digging, drain, filling) and WILL IMPROVE THE ENTIRE SERVER'S FEEL AS A COMMUNITY.
Speaking from personal experiance, the server is A LOT funner when Modmins become friends with everyone, this makes it feel all positive, and it becomes fun to login, talk to friends, get a skype call going. NOT Login
and be bombarded by requests for half an hour, and at that point just leaving as you cant be bothered. BUT to become friends we once again need to trear each other with a bit more respect.
One thing people also need to realise, is that Modmins are there to build their things as well. Not just be everyones personal slave. So if a Modmin says something like
"Ok guys, in a few minutes, im just trying to do something", PLEASE wait a few minutes then ask politely "Hey <modmins name> are you free now?",
Rather than waiting like 30 seconds then going "Hurry up, its been ages"
TL:DR We dont need more modmins, we need more manners, which will lead to a better server experaince
Sadly my attempts at attending the server have been thwarted by 3am escapades with academic paperwork.
Anyways, I just read over the debate on workloads upon the current staff, and I agree with the majority that workload issues are rooted in the current actions of the community, instead of more of it being a lack of staff to round out service.
But why not both more modmins and manners? Neither condition seems to conflict with one another. It could be more than just a halving of workloads/stress, should the newer staff have more of a cushion to land in when logging onto the server. It seems that from the transition from Raddaserver to Keystone, we have gained a larger community, yet retained a similar amount of staff. Plus we certainly don't want the trusted/members to believe that obtaining a modmin position is an impossibility through their potential hardwork. They do need some motivation as well.
I also know that a lot of donors dont mind sending things to people either when the modmins are busy or there are none on. I know that I am one of those and so is Dragon(when he is paying attention to the chat :tongue.gif:) and I have seen a couple of others. I am wondering if you guys dont mind us doing this? However i think the one problem with this is that we dont know the rules you guys follow of what is allowed to be sent and how much is ok to send them. I dont want to cause problems by just being nice :tongue.gif:
This is why some of us shared contact information, why we use skype, to communicateharass each other better when issues come up within the server. And tease Omega for not talking during skype calls
I have repaired your post, Kaval. It is now 20% more accurate. :V
Now, if you'll excuse me, I need to go back to turning junk from .obj into a .mdl

YOUR MINECRAFT ACCOUNT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY, TREAT IT AS IF IT WERE A WAD OF CASH.
With Item sending, we dont mind, in fact we apreciate you guys helping. BUT we have also noticed that the amount of people with BANNED items has also increased. Now im really hoping that you guys arnt sending items that are banned.
If you are not sure whether or not something is banned then DONT send it.
The main items that are BANNED are: (not limited to)
ENDER PEARLS
TNT
BEDROCK
PORTALS
WATER
FIRE
LAVA
ICE
WEBS
DRAGON EGGS
Now if you are in fact sending banned items i HEAVILY suggest that you stop, as action will be taken against you if we catch you supplying people
Other than that we have no issue with you guys helping us out, THANK YOU :biggrin.gif: :biggrin.gif: :biggrin.gif:
We can only send kits. So we can't change the amount of an item we send. Also there are no kits with banned items (and we can't spawn MOST of them) so the banned items aren't from donators.

Donators do have the ability to use the /i command to send individual items to people.
*being randomly new on topic* I also help give items(when I'm not building, can't read chat when building). You can send specific amount of item with /give. None of the items devil mentioned can be spawned (except for enderpearl i think). And I've never bothered giving bones to anyone :tongue.gif:
Can i say that i have a stack of bones in my inventory , i used to use them for when i found a wolf but now i might just /call someone to give them bones for a wolf if they ask saving modmins and donators the trouble of spawning the bones for the person. i also don't want to get banned for it.
This one isn't of the quality I'd like, but i thought I'd post it anyways.

Seriously, I often wonder how anyone can even get stuff done anymore.
