well i'm not going to be on at my usual times any more, school has started and my time has now been limited to afternoons...
OK, when you sudden disappeared I suspected that might be the case -- as long as you have fun. BTW, I hope you don't mind the small marble shrine by your path, that's just where the End portal happened to be.
Tried out the ships mod and found trouble -- after logging out and back in I'd glitched into the hull with now way out (except /kill, even in creative blocks in ships can't break). Mobs could be put on, but would often glitch through and be lost, etc.
Ive had that problem, it mostly happens if you run aground or log out on it. if it bugs out there is a ship eraser that will clean it up. as for mobs, well even the zeppelin mod from the time of yor couldn't even do that. i believe the 1.7 archenemies has a storage crate for mobs, but it is also even more buggy the ships.
We have been having several new people on in the evening, and though the night -- the mountains near the village, at the edge of the Northern desert have houses now.
Oh, and don't take better storage backpacks to the end; they don't come back!
Some people are getting kicked with this in between logging in and "disconnected, reason: disconnect.genericReason":

I'm not sure what's going on, but this is what is showing up.
Played admin a while today. Changing the actual world type in an existing world doesn't work it seems, but highland biomes in default world is now on again. Also, there is now a small and very simple safe house at spawn for new players who spawn at night. There is also a rudimentary economy and sufficiently developed towns may now apply to have a bank added. The sever was down for around 15 minutes to play with the biome settings but is up and running again now.
a bank? are you using the npc wand, or are we on the cauldron now?
NPC wand -- basically its just a way of getting the MF coins in if someone want to use them as currency; really, there were already the emerald from vanilla, but now they can be split into coins. The coin metals can also be exchanged, though at a slight loss anything but pure gold.
BTW: Three of the old players, Logan and his two brothers have returned and are building fort far to the north now.
EDIT: It is a lot of ... well, not really grinding ... but work and time to make things once you get to a certain point, more than is fun or seems worth it. I have to admit that I myself am getting tired of it. This server will die at the beginning of November.
as he said a while ago, the sever is paid up to November.
I'm thinking I may have to make chunk loaders uncraftable because since I de-nerfed Ancient Warfare the server runs at 20-30+% CPU even (current at 35% with a recent restart and no one on since) with no one online and lag has showed up, which almost never was noticeable before.
As for the server's lifespan -- its guaranteed until November 3, 2014; my situation and cost will then determine its survival. Some have suggested I set-up a donation system, but I'd feel bad if I took donations and the server went down anyway, I've thought about it though, might try it if there were more players.
EDIT: Disable chunk loaders, and a little better; not perfect since poppet tables load chunks, too.
I created a single player world to test Dungeons Mobs again yesterday. I was still was able to get the Lizalfos crash again, though only once in several hours; this would be OK in single player, just restart the game; but what crashed was the internal server, so this is not acceptable on a server, since it could bring the whole server down without me around to restart it.
Just to see, I looked at Mo'Creatures to see what would happen; it seemed to moderate some of the problems with too many of Lycanite's passive mobs in some biomes. However, even though forbidding a mod from appearing in a modpack may be questionable in terms of the Minecraft EULA, I plan to respect DrZharks wishes for his mod as long as "...the answer is still no."
Another thing to remember as each mod that gets added adds to the memory requirements; some players are already having trouble running out of memory because they can't spare two full GB. Both of these together were almost (not quite) as bad as adding Ars Magica. If Lizalfos could be removed I might consider adding Dungeon mobs, but for now its a big pack already, so I don't think any more mods will be added.
Still, all good to know, since started at least partly an official test server for modpack (which it turns out is fine on a professionally hosted server, though perhaps a bit much to ask of a PC that must do other things beside server Minecraft).
Yeah, there's a way around it, though that at least only loads the chunk its in. This is OK as long as the server is small; if it actually became popular and a lot of players were being sneaky and loading all kinds of chunks everything that loads them might have to be removed.
I just improved the Village Biome mini-mod; it now has three village biomes, a regular one plus one for snow and one for desert -- no more rainy desert villages or weirdness with the snow. Unfortunately, this will only effect newly discovered villages. This version also seems to lack the bug that sometimes turned villages into a checkerboard of random Thaumcraft biomes.
EDIT: I've also considered trying to expand this to a "FotAcore" (Hexit has a mod "Hexit-core"), which might replace Minetweaker, and perhaps fix some of the spawn list (read, be able to take out Lizalfos and all Dungeon mobs), and perhaps other things if I feel up to it. I maybe not, I don't know.

Sorry...he's kind-of dead now.... :-o

I suspect it might be, since it only effected that one guy -- still wish someone could give him a fix for it. :-/
