Day 1 was a lot of fun. Kept me busy most of the day either fixing bugs or taking notes to handle them with the late night session I just finished.
I was happy to have been able to get rid of all 5 of the First Five Awards fairly quickly into play. The day wasn't quite as busy as I had hoped for, but perhaps tomorrow (today? Ugh....) will be different. Weekends always show a rise in frequency.
I installed a couple new plugins today and I BELIEVE that those should be the last we need. For now. Things change.
I have dramatically increased the spawn rate of angry-beasties. Where there once was only a half dozen or so in sight, there is now a full dozen lurking just outside the gates... waiting....
With this change, I have also decided to turn off keepInventory. Dying means losing your exp and items again, unless you can find where you were when you died. Adventuring is no longer for the faint of heart.
I will be off and on all weekend. I got invited in on a project that is going to require a fair bit of my attention for awhile. Rayleri will be getting as much of my time as I can manage, but it becomes even more important to me that I have these plugins set up as quickly as possible. The closer to self reliant I can get this server, the better. I want everyone to be able to enjoy themselves without having to wait on me. Especially because most of my time will have to be dedicated to setting up plot events.
Significant Changes
No more Stone Generators! I will be setting up MineReset with ratios similar to regular spawn. Yup. That means Diamonds might appear in the mix as well.
Currency Updated. I have set denominations for all currency blocks. In order of value:
Emerald: 1
Emerald Block: 9
Iron Ingot: 10
Gold Ingot: 20
Diamond: 50
Iron Block: 90
Gold Block: 180
Diamond Block: 450
Currency will be able to be exchanged at the Bank once we get that far. Vaults can also be set up in the bank, but the bank will not provide a lock. Unpickable locks will be available as event items only.
Shopkeepers should be available by the end of the weekend. In the meantime, if you need a material (be reasonable) just let me know when I am online. Once Shopkeepers are up, the community chest will be destroyed, empty or not. From then on, players will have to buy their supplies from the testificate vendors. You can also sell your supplies to them to make a profit. Vendors will be sorted by their type (stone, ores, wood, food, etc) and there will be one of each vendor (buy/sell) in each building. Signs and item frames will help to distinguish between buildings, as well as varying design.
New chat plugin. Not sure what to say about it at the moment.... Still tinkering with it. Need people to actually test it, though, so haven't gotten far. Most of you people are doing what I should be. Sleeping.
Essentials /sell command has been abolished. Someone got frisky with it earlier and reminded me that I forgot to break that command. It's been done, and all subsequent item values have been magically transformed into 0's. Just in case.
Point: do not /sell items. It either won't work or you will receive exactly nothing. Use the vendors.
As mentioned before, we have A LOT more hostile mobs spawning now. Passive mobs seem to be unaffected. This isn't an issue, however, as they were somewhat abundant before. Even as I was typing this before, I was making another adjustment that would mean even more mobs than I had said before.
It is very possible that there could be as many as 2 dozen mobs just lurking nearby. And I don't mean total around the walls. Within a 15 block radius of just one entrance to the town, there was a dozen. And I changed settings that might could have doubled it. It's gonna get intense.
Moving Forward
The town we are currently in is too small now. We've already filled up 6 chunks with a small farm, a decent sized orchard, a pen for the animals, and 4 houses. Room for 2 more, but they be awfully small.
So, instead of trying to pack you people in like sardines, we are going to start our advance onto the plateau. The top layer will be the business district. Coming down the sides there will be places for homes.
If you don't get it, it'll quickly becomes visible.
The lower area at the foot of the plateau may be exposed to the exterior and designated as the farming area. This will include all types of resource gathering. The mine will be outside as well.
This is so that people can elect to earn money in at least 2 ways; fighting mobs and harvesting a resource. Thrifty people will find 3 opportunities pretty quickly.
As a note, Ranak was the only one to put forth any names for the contest. Luckily for him, I liked the name 'Solace' for the capitol city. He has received his Unpickable Lock for this name. In game name is emualfafa. Give him some spam congratulations whenever you see him on. Even if you've done it before. Make him complain to me about saying this.
Thanks to those of you who joined in on this first day. You kept me busy. Which is great, but also unfortunate. You left me with A LOT of reading to do tomorrow....

How does one get 450 diamonds, And only 90 iron?
That is the relative worth of each of those items.
It also helps set up a fairly reasonable system for the MineReset plugin. I can use the worth comparative to each other to figure out how often I want each item to spawn.
Now, looking again at your question, you need to consider the value of the base form item. An Iron Ingot is worth 10. 9 Ingots to a Block, so 10x9=90. An Iron Block is worth 90. Likewise, a Diamond is worth 50. 9 Diamonds to a Diamond Block, 50x9=450.
It is highly unlikely that anyone will ever see a Diamond Block in their vault; at least for awhile. But the point is that the server is now able to store a MASSIVE fortune for you, and allow you to check the /balance without having to carry all that loot on you.
All of this would have been AWFULLY easy to understand if you had actually read some of my posts instead of taking this one, and this one part, out of context. I made it clear pretty early on what the currency was going to be and that I was going to set each item to its own denomination. Further, I said 'in order of value'. How did you come up with the idea that you had to get 450 Diamonds or 90 Iron
Only minor server updates had to be made, meaning that we had a very low amount of downtime today.
Most of what I needed to do was pretty simple. I was able to update several config files and do a quick restart instead of having to totally shut down the server or changing it to whitelist only while I play with settings.
Biggest changes today were economy. Which, coincidentally, is my primary focus right now. The sooner I can get the server self sufficient, the better. Soooon....
We have a temporary wood shop down in the town, a Blacksmith, StoneMason, and a Tailor up on the plateau. We have an orchard just outside the walls, a MineResetLite mine out of the south gateway, and a lot more on the way.
It's been a good day.
And now, daddy has to do a LOT of reading since I've been putting it off so much.
Looks funderful, but even though it is live and whitelisted, how does one apply for the the server? I saw 'whitelisted' and immediately thought that there would be an application somewhere. If I seem demanding I apologize.

You're fine. Sorry, been doing some maintenance on it. No one was on, so I took the advantage....
There's an application to get in now, but I am gonna put you on the list since you already posted.
And then updated your post.
So I'd say your interested.
Yesterday was productive. We got the permanent WoodShop set up as well as the bank AND the Vaults underneath it.
Today was not. Today, I was stuck watching e-conferences or taking some 'safety' tests that are almost verbatim the same things I have seen before.... A major waste of time. ("Major Waste")
From now on, most of the time I'll be able to spend on the server will be weekends. I'll be able to do some amount of work on it during the weeks, but the biggest changes will come on Saturdays, most likely.
In any case, we ARE open. We have a pretty solid economy established and it is getting stronger as we go. Simple application on the first post of this thread. Once approved, you are whitelisted and you're welcome to play to your hearts content.
I got the Lock Shop up the other day. Not sure how I found the time.... Can't really remember.
I'll be at over 60 hours after tomorrow I think. Long days and daddy just wants a nap. Or new feet. Both would be really nice.
I'll be working on the last two shops this weekend, but I have other things I need to attend to as well. I'll try to get some of the residential areas established as well over the weekend.
I also need to get groups set up. I currently have 1 person established as OP with the stipulation that he only use his powers to do good. Moderator commands only. He will be keeping an eye on the thread and whitelisting anyone that he thinks seems legit. He will also be keeping an eye in the chat and booting people that gots to get got.
RP SHOULD go into effect this weekend. I'm hoping to get a major event set up as soon as I can manage, but it should be kept in mind that I am pretty much working on this alone and I have a job. There are other things in my life that have to take precedence, but I will be giving this server as much attention as I can afford.
Server size WOULD increase next week, if traffic were higher. Right now, it's not needed.
I'll be trying to get some work done on the server today. I want to get a couple more shops set up so that I can get rid of crafting. Prices will be adjusted at that time in order to give the economy more depth.
Anyone playing on this server will have to cut me a bit of slack, though. I've never played too heavy a hand in establishing an economy like this. Generally, I end up involved in player stores and that tends to end with me getting shafted by some random people who came in at the beginning and got a really good corner spot on the market. A coalition of people that shut out anyone else from every getting rich.
What I am working on is a way to make wealth hard to obtain, but possible for EVERYONE so long as they want to invest the time, while also lax enough that anyone who wants to just dabble in it a little has that choice as well. Not everyone is going to care about being rich or having the coolest house. Most are just going to want a way to pay for food or weapons or whatever. It is my intention to attempt to appeal to both of these core groups so that everyone on the server has something that interests them.
Except hard-core PvPers. I have no intention of letting this server turn away from actual RP and towards that pathetic knock-off being served up all too often.
There's been no activity on the server in awhile aside from myself when I get off work. If it doesn't start picking up, I'll be taking it down. If there's no one there to play on it, there's no point in me investing effort into building it up.
