as a reminder, while some players are allowed flight, you are NOT allowed to explore new areas while flying. Doing so will result in losing your rank for 1 week.
For the record, flight means /fly only right? Elytras are exempt?

O Hai! I am a moderator for MCL+ We're a semi-vanilla server with MCMMO and enderpearl surfing.
I would prefer not using either, but since elytras are pure vanilla I won't stop you.
Using /fly to go up super high to glide with elytra is not ok. The reason for this rule is that it causes too much of the world to get generated and loaded at once, which puts a ton of strain on the server. Maxed out server while exploring means everyone else deals with lag, but it also increases the chances of chunks getting corrupted at generation.
To get ready for Halloween, we are holding a build contest! Everyone is invited to participate!
This month, we are looking for a 45×45 build of a Graveyard. The winner will be voted on October 15 – the winning build will be moved to spawn, and used as part of our Halloween event!
Prize: The winning builder will receive one of:
A beacon with 64 emerald blocks and 10 diamond blocks
A bow with both the Mending and Looting 3 enchantments
A Trident with Mending, Looting 3, Sharpness 5, and Fire Aspect 2 enchantments
Once you have a build available, post its coordinates here!
As I didn't know about this - this is just black areas of the map?
The black areas are the unexplored areas, so yes - that is what Jester was referring to. Basically generating new chunks. However, ingame when Fluffle asked if he could use "/fly" to travel places in already explored areas, Jester said he would like to keep that to a minimum as well. Using "/fly" within the immediate area, and for very short distances (100 blocks?) should be okay.

In addition to what Jester said above, the Dynmap plugin has been updated as well - it's out of Alpha, and into Snapshots. Before being able to access the map again, you'll need to clear your browser cache. This can be done by holding Ctrl and pressing F5. Until you do this, this is the message you will be presented with:
Thankfully, this only needs to be done once. Afterwards, it works perfectly.

FYI - I wanted to give everyone an update for the current staff.
aegisjester - Server owner. I have the final say on any disputes that arise between members, what plugins we use (and what settings)
Fluffie and secretlondon - Moderators. They can do things like fix some basic world generation errors, but also see things like all block/chest interactions and do rollbacks. If you have a dispute with another member of the server about something (or if something seems broken), they can always help. If you have a dispute with a moderator, I will resolve it.
vQuavelen - SysAdmin. She is helping me with making sure all the plugins are up to date and working properly, and is helping import builds from the old world into the new one. She is NOT helping with player disputes or day-to-day stuff, and always works directly with me for any changes that get made. If something looks broken at the server level, you can let her know if none of the other staff is online and she will work with me to fix it. If you have a dispute with her, just work with the moderators or me to get it resolved like any other member.
Since most of the old builds have been imported, the SysAdmin has a background role, and does not overlap with the moderators. If there are issues like theft or other player disputes, work with me or the moderators to get it resolved.
We now have some custom loot and crafting. This is what has been done:
End city chests:
Added end portal frames.
Stack of 1 to 2; same rarity as emeralds.
Stronghold chests:
Added silverfish spawn eggs.
Stack of 1 to 5; same rarity as gold ingots.
Underwater Ruin chests:
Added mob heads that are unobtainable via charged creepers.
Found one at a time; same rarity as emeralds.
Crafting:
Made 'infested' block variants craftable.
Place a silverfish spawn egg in a crafting table with the respective block; shapeless recipe.
Produces 'infested' blocks at a 1:1 rate.
The mob head stack amount, rarity, and infested block crafting production amount might be increased in the future, as I did not get a chance to ask Jester about it. For now, this is how it is.
In addition to the above, an 'auto announcer' plugin has been added. It will be able broadcast a message every few hours, to remind people of things like events. I've only added the aforementioned October build challenge to it, for now.

The majority of the posts on that page will explain it well enough, if you are unaware. It has since been fixed, but the mobs that spawned as a result of that bug still remain. I've killed off the majority around my base already. I'm sure there are many llamas, rabbits, cows, pigs, and sheep elsewhere though. Now, obviously this does not mean start killing every passive mob you see; just if you see something like this:

I've been playing Minecraft for over 4 years now.
I'm almost 16.
I'm a big fan of playing Minecraft in a more dedicated style, like the people on Hermitcraft.
Why do I want to join this server? I got a friend who's playing on here.
I've always wanted to create some big farm, like a gold farm, or an enderman farm.
Welcome to the server. =)

Be sure to follow the rules, and have fun. Out of curiosity, was it Magic Mike that invited you? He mentioned a few hours ago that he was planning on inviting some players.

Can you fix the corrupted chunks in the end? I want to explore without getting into one again after the last time.
There is no end chunk corruption. If you were getting what MagicMike, Jester, and I were getting - invisible blocks - then it's nothing you need to worry about. The issue was simply the host's hardware struggling to keep up. We've since reduced the load on it, as I stated in the discord server. You should see a tag in the #announcements channel explaining what we did.
So, go exploring all you want. Let either Jester or I know if the issue persists, though.

After investigating (and losing some hair from the stress) it appears to be an issue with the latest build of Spigot. Others on the official Spigot development thread have confirmed this: https://www.spigotmc.org/threads/bukkit-craftbukkit-spigot-bungeecord-1-13-1-development-builds.336415/page-16
Edit: This has been fully resolved now: https://www.spigotmc.org/threads/bukkit-craftbukkit-spigot-bungeecord-1-13-1-development-builds.336415/page-16#post-3158973

If you encounter hordes of passive mobs near you, please kill them off when you have time. There are many leftover from the aforementioned bug with mob spawning: https://www.spigotmc.org/threads/bukkit-craftbukkit-spigot-bungeecord-1-13-1-development-builds.336415/page-16

Sub-terranian part of the farm tower is now under construction, with the first floor finished. It actually looks like a huge redstone server room.
Once finished, fully-automatic pumpkins and melons will be available in the main "Lobby" of the farm tower!
