Quav - would you like to work with me in setting up a few public things? I know you don't mind a good old fashion grind in digging and stuff. I have a few ideas on builds. One requires a massive clearing, and the others require a lot of a particular resource.
Certainly. I'd be happy to help, regardless of the context. Just let me know when, and I'll login. Unless you mean for if/when we reset the map, then yeah lol. The answer is still yes.

Quav - I am a little wary about starting new things during this build due to pending version update. If the map is reset then I already have too many builds and won't be able to take them all with me. I think Aegis said 1-2 or so.

O Hai! I am a moderator for MCL+ We're a semi-vanilla server with MCMMO and enderpearl surfing.
For long-time builders, you can bring pretty much any build you want, I'm not putting a limit on it. However, I don't want to bring in ANY mob farms (no iron farms, no gold farms, no end farms, no pris farms).
This is because these big community farms tend to be fun to build, and new users are very likely interested in contributing to them. If you have these farms already incorporated into an existing build, that part will be cut out when it is imported.
If you do want builds imported, it will follow an inverse size-distance rule with the spawn - the bigger the build you're intending to import, the farther away it will be from the new spawn. So if you're working on a little house or something, it can go right near where the new spawn area will be. However, importing city-sized builds will be at least a thousand blocks away, so new builders don't get crowded out of the virgin lands.
Regarding your comment with my end village, part of the challenge is that every single block is hand-placed. Once the whole thing is built (at this rate, over a year from now), I also want to try an experiment - get villagers populating the whole thing, and have players spread around the city so the whole thing is loaded at once.
I want to see if I force villagers to be evenly spread out across the entire ring (and have the entire ring loaded by having players spread around it too), then maybe the iron golems will spawn on the main end island in the center of the ring. If that did happen, it would have thousands of villagers contributing to the same village's golem spawn rate, but the iron golems themselves would not be spawning in the village to count towards the cap (so nothing stopping their spawn rate). It would basically be a fountain of golems

Hey Aegis,
Quav mentioned we might not need it, here's hoping =)
Assuming we do have to bring some builds to a new server build, can we bring 'farms' that don't actually do anything. I put a lot of decor into my prismarine farms that is external to the actual farm itself but surrounding it. I was thinking that if it got moved it would simply be placed somewhere other than where guardians spawn and thus not actually be a farm. I'm thinking more of my second pris farm where I put a mock arena in the bottom and a village on top. I also used a HUGE amount of concrete for those decors.
I am not only completely fine with my big stuff being far away, I'd prefer it. Most of my great builds should be in locations that don't accidentally get found. I might even put the majority of things all in one area. I have two major sea builds (sea home and 2nd pris farm) as well as a cloud home. Those things are easily placed around each other rather than how distant they are now. My other nice build (tho perhaps too large) is Harbortown.
That golem idea is interesting, but I wonder if a huge ring village would actually work that way. I suppose you could try on a smaller scale even in the superflat. Just do a ring that is within a 100x100 square area instead of the 1000x1000 you were doing before. If it works with a 100x100 then maybe 1000x1000 is possible. But somehow I wonder if something sufficiently large enough is split into parts.

Yes, I can import those builds, there just won't be any guardians spawning in it.
Sufficiently large villages do tend to split, but it is random based on how the villagers move. If I force some villagers to 'stay put' by locking them into a couple strategic houses, then there shouldn't be any way for the village to break. Still untested though

I am thinking that if I do move a guardian farm that has decor around it I'll just remove the guardian farm from within the center and put some new decor there. My Basement arena and above village could be modified so that the best villager trades are taken down to the basement or something (where the guardians currently spawn).
Just curious, if a build has chests in it will the content of the chests be retained?

Minecraft username: Heather___ How long you’ve been playing Minecraft: 7+ years Age: 16 Something about you or why you want to join: I'd like to join because I have stopped playing Minecraft for a few months and am ready to get back playing again. This server is similar to the type of server's I normally play on, although still has new things to learn about. Name something you've always wanted to build in MC but never have been able to: A cave-styled underground base
Ahead of the Official Update to Minecraft 1.13, I have decided to launch a "beta" server, running on the latest snapshot.
This will be a fresh vanilla world (no plugins). The world we build in the beta will be used as the new world for the new release (so long as the snapshots don't have any world breakers). There will not be any plugins on the beta server (I'm using a super cheap hosting solution for the beta).

I think I'll log into the beta as well. See what can be done and whatnot for a friendly hello to newcomers. I wouldn't mind also placing coords for my builds to drop =)
By the way, will we have rank in the beta server?

It's pure vanilla, so no ranks, commands, etc. Same stuff as if you were to play single player. Snapshots don't get spigot/bukkit server.jar made after them, which means no plugins. Which in turn, means no commands such as '/home', '/tpa', '/spawn', etc. Gotta do everything manually.
Also, this map isn't guaranteed to be permanent. Jester plans to keep it, unless a new snapshot breaks/adds stuff that requires a new world.

So Aegis, just on a technical level: How are we going to indicate which builds we want moved over? Suppose someone doesn't log in for a month after the update, will you still have the old data map around? How will that work?

Well, I believe I've finally discovered a crash on 18w15a lol. I'm completely unable to log back in, no matter what I do.
