Maybe a dumb question, but i wanted to try your server out and noticed, that three of the required mods or versions are not available anymore. How do you handle something like this?
The mods in question are:
Tinkers Construct (old version not available)
Mechworks (old version not available)
Craft Heraldry (discontinued and taken down it seems)
Have fun.
For those three in particular you have to use the download links to the right of the information links on the spreadsheet.
I'm not dead, although I wouldn't doubt I've been forgotten. I used to play on the server, but ever since the new server location and mods, I haven't been able to play. Just wanted to say that my internet and computer should be improving within the month, so maybe I'll be able to play on my favorite server again! Fingers crossed.
A note to all, I have a ticket open to try to resolve the lag issues the server has been having lately. Apologies for lack of presence lately; I have been having a ton of trouble with free time lately, but I am starting to get things back to normal and will be able to continue work on Arcanacraft as well as AM2 in the near future.
Since the excess donations go to charity, I thought I would post here and let everyone know that between all of us, we were able to continue hosting the server for another month and donate $100.00 to the Canadian Liver Foundation on behalf of Arcanacraft! Thank you to everyone who donated, and let's keep this going!
For those who would like to know why I chose the Canadian Liver Foundation, please read below.
A number of years ago, the CLF saved my mom. I was ten years old. She was hospitalized for months with a diagnosis of Hepatitus C and Primary Biliary Cirrhosis. Her body was so full of toxins that she couldn't even remember who I was. She didn't recognize my face. The doctors said she had a week to live at most, and even though she was on the transplant list, a miracle was unlikely.
It was painful to see, and even now, so many years later, is painful to think about.
My dad and I had taken her to a nearby campground (she loves camping, and the hospital could do no more for her). We were saying our goodbyes. I've never cried so hard in my life.
Then that little green beeper went off, and it meant that there was a donor found...I couldn't believe it. I ran to where my parents were, screaming incoherently about getting in the car and going back to the hospital. I remember the doctors and nurses wheeling her into surgery, and she was so scared. I held her hand down the hall until the doctors forced me to stop. All I told her was, "I'll see you soon."
That was fifteen years ago, and my mom is still alive and well, all thanks to the doctors and the CLF. There is no way I could ever express my gratitude and my joy for what they did.
A couple years later, my best friend lost his mom to the same disease. They couldn't find her a donor in time.
I don't have much extra money, but I started the Minecraft server Arcanacraft. It's funded by donations, and each month, all donations in excess of covering the server will be donated to charity. Players can pick where the donations go, but if they don't specify one, then it's up to me. I also created the Minecraft mod Ars Magica, and a large portion of donations and ad revenue I get go to charity as well.
I choose to donate to the CLF. Thank you all, so much.
I've heard of ArsMagica for a while now, cant say that I've actually used it much, but after reading through the threads a few minutes ago, I came across this one little reply that you posted and surrounded it in a spoiler. Doesn't seem like many others clicked on it... but I did. As I was reading through it, I began to get a little... well... you know, not because I'm a weak little soul, but because I knew where the ending was going, and because I experienced a similar situation years ago with my older brother. Most people cannot explain the feeling, or the hopelessness of what may have happened in ones past and how it will affect you for the rest of your life... but you've managed to trigger some old memories from a long time ago.
And then I got to the part where I found that your story had a good ending, and I'm happy for that. Unfortunately good things aren't universal, but am glad that things turned out well for you.
I have even more motivation to check out your work when I finally get off of work today, so enjoy and keep up the apparent good work!
I've re-quoted the spoiler for those that may have missed it initially (above)...
Hello, I'm interested in joining the server but I seem to have a problem with forge multipart. I downloaded the 250 version and put it in the mods folder, but then I got an error message saying I had a duplicate. After checking the mods folder, I now had both a 250 and a 244 version. I believe this is due to Project Red automatically installing 244 because that is the listed FMP needed for build 30. How can I stop it from automatically installing this version?
Also, have you ever considered some sort of dropbox with a .zip of all the correct mods and versions, similar to what you've done with the config?
Edit: Oh, it might have had to do with FMP being misnamed. The 250 version had a (1) after its name because I had apparently downloaded it before. Fixed that and it works great now. See you around.

their is a reason we cant do this, cause that would be considered an official "modpack" and then we would have to ask every author for permission to include their mod. and if we didn't, we could get sued.

Definitely NO to the reset. I don't think there should be a reset until an update to 1.7 when it's necessary. I don't think resources are really a problem with magic crops and the grow spell. We could maybe reduce the pvp zone if land is beginning to become a problem.
Edit: Also, the video above suffices as an appropriate response
I'm not sure if there's any desire for this or not but I think people should vote on a world reset when 1.2 comes out. Thoughts on this?
Could also delete unused region files too, ensuring that structures stay but resources are replenished.
though i am not against a reset, a new world would be nice to explore the new changes, i would prefer to not reset it, the thaumcraft research and am2 leveling is a bit time consuming and bother and i dont want to have to redo all of it
edit: in addition we are probably going to have to reset for 1.7, so it would be like a month befor another reset. im not going to say yes or no to the reset, i just want both sides to be considered.

I vote yes for a world reset. I was late to the game, and was not able to gather as many resources in the area I ended up settling in, as it had already been scavenged pretty good. I think a reset would be a good idea, given how many new mechanics are coming with 1.2. It would let us do the things that we think 'Man, I wish I'd have done XXX like this, instead of the way I did'.

tl;dr Yes, reset please.
i argee that it would be nice to explore am2 on a world that we know mostlikly will be reset soon, then we dont have to worry about mistakes as much but can insteadlearn from them. the world has been picked clean too for the most part, so a reset would put everyone on a level playing field once again.

I have to vote no on a full reset, as 1) a reset for 1.7 is inevitable... and 2) hopefully not *that* far in the future. Seems a bit pointless to do it now, unless 1.2 breaks many things.
The latter option seems a reasonable compromise though if it isn't a great deal of fuss on your end.
We're just going to have another wipe when 1.2.1 comes out for 1.7. It would be annoying to have to rebuild everything again just to have it wiped again. Having to rebuild and regain all the levels so frequently is frustrating. The world is definitely not picked clean either. Opening up some of the almost completely unused pvp zone would make it even less so. And if there's a way to regenerate the resources without deleting structures, even better. I think leveling the playing field is a bad reason for doing a reset if resources can be replenished,
As for starting over to correct mistakes, the only thing you're locked to that you can't manually start over yourself is the am2 tree. If that's a big issue, a respec would be a lot better way to solve it for a few people than resetting everything for everyone.

I have to agree with Steve Carell on this one. Please don't make us have to rebuild the Tower of Tacos again :'(
