THE WASTE LAND (Come in under the shadow of this red rock),
And I will show you something different from either
Your shadow at morning striding behind you
Or your shadow at evening rising to meet you;
I will show you fear in a handful of dust.
The Waste Land is a survival PvP server where you can roleplay as a character, form nations, and build ships and airships with guns on them!
Running Minecraft 1.7.2 Server IP: twl.fluctis.com
The server is public, join now!
Things we do:
build towns and cities
trade and explore
travel the oceans and skies in armed and armored ships
engage in diplomacy with other nations
fight wars against enemies using artillery and cannons
make friends
1. Admins
The admins monitor and guide the roleplay progression of the server, and enforce the rules. Admins may not found towns. Admins cannot abuse creative mode or admin powers.
2. Decency
Malicious behavior such as griefing, cheating, or x-raying is forbidden. No AFKing. Examples of griefing are pillaring or encasing someone in obsidian.
3. PvP Rules
3.1. PvP is on. Any items may be used. PvP is for roleplaying battles and skirmishes, not trolling or traumatizing your opponents.
3.2. Attack the enemy as your roleplay character while they are online. Verbal communication in character is required before combat or other aggression. This could be as short as a sentence or as long as a philosophical discourse.
3.3. Anything and anyone in the Wilderness may be attacked in character, and destroyed at will. Stealing, fighting, and mayhem in character is allowed and encouraged there.
3.4. A nation may declare another nation an enemy and attack its towns when there are at least 3 players online to defend.
Attackers can place a war flag (fence post) in a chunk at the edge of an enemy town. This costs 500 man-hours.
The attackers try to protect the flag for 5 minutes. The attackers can break doors and use switches. Explosions and cannons damage blocks.
If the defenders destroy the flag, the attacker pays 200 man-hours to the defender. If not, the attacking town claims the land and steals 200 man-hours from the defending town.
4. Other Dimensions
The End is closed. The Nether is restricted. Construction and resource-gathering are allowed in the Nether, but trading is not. No towns in the Nether. Leave the way you entered and trade in the Overworld.
5. Realism
No free-floating structures besides airships. If you destroy an airship, tear down the remains. Outlandish and bizarre roleplay including imports e.g. Skyrim is strongly discouraged. Ridiculous airships such as 1x1 towers or lava ladles are griefing.
6. Towns, Nations, and Production
6.1. Every player receives 1 man-hour of Extra Labor per minute of play.
6.2. Towns are the centers of roleplay. It costs nothing to found a Town or claim land. Citizens can deposit their Extra Labor to the town, or Mayors can tax their citizens' labors.
6.3. Nations represent military empires. Nations can attack, and be attacked by, other nations! It costs a town 2,500 man-hours to found a nation. Nations can tax their Towns' labors.
6.4. Nations may submit a prototype ship design to the Admins as a Class. The towns of that nation may then mass-produce that class of ship, which costs labor. This cannot be abused for mineral blocks or Beacons. To produce ships, town mayors inform the Admins.
up to 750 blocks: Small vessel. Airships included. 300 man-hours
up to 1,500 blocks: Medium vessel. 800 man-hours
up to 3,000 blocks: Large vessel. 2,000 man-hours
6.5. Towns may claim 16 chunks per citizen. Towns can claim outposts unconnected to their town for 1,000 man-hours. Each town in a nation receives a land bonus:
Federation: 8 citizens. +16 chunks
Dominion: 16 citizens. +64 chunks
Empire: 32 citizens. +128 chunks
6.6. Citizens can fast travel to allied towns and public towns for 60 man-hours. It takes 30 seconds before you are transported. Using this to evade PvP is forbidden.
6.7. Nations may choose to repair postwar damage at a rate of 10 blocks per man-hour. This is done using a rollback feature. Abusing this to farm resources is forbidden.
