What I might do is use the Mindcrack FTB version and if anyone wants to use a quarry, they have to put it on the ocean.

Also I have been thinking about the server when I launch it and this is what I came up with:
1. Make the server more private. Since the server got what people call "usual's" on the server we could make it sort of like a semi-private FTB community. I will hold back on whitelist applications until we want more people to come in.

2. When I launch the server we will make a starting base for everyone to come on in. First, we build a fortress looking base with farms and public machines so everyone one can use them. Then, if you guys want you guys can leave spawn to build your own base (Still can't be 1000 blocks from spawn).

3. If anyone wants to record on this server just say you are recording then go ahead.

Guys, give me your thought on this or if you want to add more go ahead. I want to make this server a Mindcrack/Hermitcraft FTB type server.

This all sounds great to me. I am easy going and will do what needs to be done to get a good community going on the server. I kinda regretted moving out from spawn so far on the last map so I think building a spawn community/town is a great idea also.

I do not have an opinion on quarries but I do believe that that the running water may lag the server.

I do not plan on doing any videos right now. I may in the future. I do not mind being in others videos if they record though.

Cannot wait to see the server back up and running.

Quarries are indeed a controversial topic. Personally, I'd like to have one beneath my base, kind of like what eternal said. It wouldn't really harm anyone, and it's not much for materials as it is for clearing space fast. Besides that, I think quarries in the ocean is a great idea. It would probably be best, however, if the Quarry was a ways from the community.

The building at spawn is a good idea, but we (MvK) would have to be extra careful in white-listing people. As far as youtube is concerned, I will most likely be recording in the new world. To be honest, even though it's a lot of our first times recording, or commentating, we would most likely do well in youtube. As long as we stick together and support each other. A good way to get viewers or subscribers is sharing them. For example: I make a couple of vids and maybe have 30 subs. Then, I make a video with Mega and Eternal; let's say my subs (and theirs) like what they see. Then, My subs subscribe to them, and theirs to me. The server should be a great way of applying this and I'm excited

Concerning the "usual's" thing, I think we should stop whitelisting, as well. At least for a while. A few acceptions would be a good friend of a "usual" or an outstanding application. Any other things or conflicting thoughts?

Well if we all are going to communicate with one another add each other on skype (mine is MegakillXx)

Ok so we agreed on Proposition #1 of making the server a semi-private one.
Proposition #2 about the starting base I think we also. Once we are done with the starting base then we could spread out on our own ways. I am also going to take out the restriction of the living within 1000 blocks of spawn. So please do not load any unecessary chunks.
So about proposition #3 I do not mind talking on videos.
About the quarries, we could do the mining about 15 blocks under the landscape to put the quarries.
I will also be more strict about whitelisting applications for the server since we are going to have people recording we would not want any griefers or any cuzzing on the chat.
Also this server is hosted by LegendaryHost. If you guys think the server has lag or anything just tell me to see about other hosting services.
If you guys have any other ideas please feel free to post them.

well the just recently released a direwolf20 modpack also, i think we should have a vote on which one we chose
i chose Mindcrack modpack personally because it has the advanced machines and no mystcraft

I think we will use the Mindcrack FTB unless we decide otherwise.

I'm 100% up for the idea of the Mindcrack modpack and as I already had prior plans to build the spawn/start hub when I first joined up I'm obviously 300% up for that idea as well. I was thinking about starting to record in a few months once I get my laptop so being able to record on a server would be awesome as well. All in all I think I've found my "home" in minecraft lol I look forward to seeing you all online as soon as the servers up! Until then, I will be checking this thread when I am able to get online from my terrible router and the holidays but rest assured I'm here for the whole deal and I will see you online! =) Have a happy holiday and a festive new year! =)

What is your experience in FTB?: Well I know all about industrial craft and build craft, touched a bit on some other mods
What can you contribute to the server?: I can create a safe and reliable enviroment which players can have fun and play as an equal comminuty of friends.
In your words,what does rule #5 mean and will you follow it?: Rule#5 to me means that there is absolutely no griefing, stealing, or breaking anyone's desired property. And absolutely I will follow it, without it there would be no control in a safe haven of a community.

Looks good MvK, I am really excited to start playing on the server. I believe the new application will help us maintain a close-knit community

Ive been Following all the posts and changes that have happened recently and im anxious for the new server to start but im looking into hopefully record i just bought Camtasia and a Editing software to start if anyone would like to start recording together, like co-commentery that would be great too. I hope that the servers up soon.

They came out with a new modpack on it for Mindcrackers with Redpower installed, I think we should use that one for this server and start a new map soon.

The Direwolf20 pack looks pretty cool too.

I am still very interested in being on the server. I get my new computer for christmas tomorrow and I will also probably start recording. I don't have a preference as to what modpack we use, the mindcrack pack will probably run smoother since there is no mystcraft

Yeah I decided to go with the Mindcrack Pack. I will try to have the server up by tomorrow or on the 26th. Also I am trying to look trying to see if we could have a voice server like Teamspeak or Mumble.
