Awesome! Good to hear we are waiting for the update. According to the Feed The Beast update tracker they're pretty close to being done. Looks to be around 75% as of this writing, so hopefully just after Christmas we'll all be able to hop on and get started enjoying the new modpack. I look forward to seeing what everyone builds and where this server goes. =)

I may or may not be able to play for a while, my router died and my brother just got it working again. I don't now how long until it will die again but i may not be active on the server for a while.

They came out with a new modpack on it for Mindcrackers with Redpower installed, I think we should use that one for this server and start a new map soon.
I'm sorry if this is a dumb question, (I'm new to FTB) but wasn't RP2 already released a while back? Is this supposed to be like a big update to it? Is it just the debut of it on FTB? I can't seem to find an answer. I know that RP2 is on tekkit, so I'm confused about this whole thing lol.

RP2 or RedPower2 is not yet included in the modpack. It adds new types of redstone devices (timers,NOT gates, AND gates, etc) that are now easily compacted into a one block area instead of taking up several. It also adds two new basic blocks (basalt, marble) each can be turn into brick form (like stone bricks). It also adds a new semibiome (i guess you would call it) which is a volcano. Volcanoes have very large amounts of lava under them (which forms into a pool underground) and some are erupted. They provide a good amount of lava which you could use to power geothermal generators (or use the lava to make tin and other materials). RP2 isnt the only thing their adding either (if im correct they are also adding Thaumcraft, which i really enjoy as a mod). overall there will be a lot of new additions to the modpack and this is the main reason why we would need to restart the server.
also i like the idea of using the mindcrack modpack, it gets rid of mystcraft which causes alot of lag (you can just tell people to only use quarries underground so it doesn't look like someone raped the landscape)

I wouldn't recommend building a quarry in the ocean alot, i suspect the running water would lag the game if there was enough of it but im not certain.
A starting base wouldn't be bad but just keep in mind most of us arn't going to spend a large amount of time on it in the begining ( i would more then likely enjoy to expand it after i get enough resources to expand borders and add buildings. Also, we should get little shops/homes in the spawn that we can customize ourselves. and i think the recording idea is fine (i personally will probably not record because im not the only one using the internet at my home and they don't like it when i take it all :l, but i will be more then happy to join skype chats )
Reguarding #1 I like that idea immensely. I still can't believe how I stumbled upon such an amazing bunch.

As far as recording goes I absolutely plan to. I recently got fraps and a decent mic (have a friends very nice one I may borrow). Two things are holding me back though. #1 I have absolutely no video making/editing experience. I do have a youtube channel now that I threw up vids of a flash game on with a free recording program. If any of you could help give me guidance I would love it. #2 I quite dislike my username and have sort of been holding out for a name change. At this point I may just buy a whole new account unless someone has heard news from mojang on the subject. If ever I was to do this I would let you all know in advance.
Regarding quarries in the ocean, isn't it possible to first dig a square/rectangle underground shaft and mark it? We could do that and make a rule not to quarry unless, say, 15 or so blocks under the surface. That way everything should stay nice and if anything were built on top more than likely no issues would arise.
Right now as we wait for everything to happen I suggest sharing skypes and whatnot so that when the time comes we're absolutely ready. If you decide to add me please just say "I'm from cosmiccraft and my IGN is (name).

You may want to look into server hosting from someone. I hear it's fairly cheap. Creeperhost.net I believe has somewhat endorsed FTB and I bet if a few of us got into youtube a fair amount they might be willing to sponsor us. (Much of this is speculation after watching a few youtube videos but why not mention it.) It seems you're hosting the server now on a home pc which would be fine as long as it's up to snuff but you may need to re-look at most recent white-listings as 15 spots isn't a ton.

2. The starting base is a good idea in my opinion, but the idea of having everyones houses within a 1000ish block area seems kinda... claustrophobic... As long as people leave some way (other than walking) to their base (ie.nether rail) i dont see anything wrong with going a bit farther out.

Awesome sounds great! We have an amazing community, and I really like the idea of having a main base where everyone lives and works at. I also like the idea of the 1,000 block boarder because it really keeps us as a big community, rather then us all spreading far out into the world. If I may make a suggestion though, maybe we should make another land area (maybe 500x500) used as designated mining space.
Even though I've only officially been on the server once, I've tried my hardest to be an active member of the community on the forum, so I hope that when the server re-opens I can be considered a "usual" Thanks for keeping us updated! ~Boss
