In light of the 1.5 update, I think it's about time people start using version changers and stop complaining about bukkit not coming out- surprised more people haven't used it, but what can ya do. Here's the forum link to the version changer- it works for my mac, and should work for linux and windows ( I can't say for those systems though, don't have 'em).

if it was there first time on the server i would them have the 23 and then give the a 1000$ idc if there new to the server i would understand

Hey Pirate, I agree, new versions and snapshots shouldn't stop you from playing the game and on whatever server version is currently available. There are lots of tools enabling you to do this.

I use Magic Launcher, and this allows me to have a folder which contains all the version jars, any mods I might want to use/try and other configs/variants without having to mess with the internals of the actual jar files. I just select the version I want, click setup to add any mods, then Login, and everything loads.
