What about a life of adventure, fame, and conquest?
Do you want to be a marauder, waylaying hapless travelers in the woods?
If you answered "yes" to any of these, then you definitely need to check us out! We've painstakingly developed a system that features minimal interference, maximum flexibility, and serious fun!
New Player Information
When new players first join Nox Imperialis, they are teleported to a special spawn jail filled with rules and information about how things work. It is highly recommended that you read all the signs as soon as you log in. Once you've finished reading, simply walk to the end of the area to take the portal out.
When you've entered the server proper, you'll find yourself in the our's central hub. The Fortress-City of Nox.
Nox has several important features that make it unique. These will be covered below.
Merchants
Nox is the only area in the server to have officially owned and operated shops. These are controlled by Merchant NPCs that sell a wide selection of goods at fixed prices:
The Brazen Drake sells Iron swords, Iron armor, Bows, and Arrows.
The Saddled Pig sells Cooked Pork, Cooked Fish, and Mushroom Stew.
The Marbled Mason sells Smooth Stone, Sandstone, Mossy Cobblestone, Stone Stairs, Half Slabs, Furnaces, Brick Blocks, Obsidian.
The Odds & Ends Store sells Iron tools, Compasses, Paper, Flint & Steel, and Torches.
The Bark & Bite sells Wood Stairs, Doors, Signs, Ladders, Fences, Workbenches, and Chests.
The Crystal Method sells Glass Blocks and Glowstone Blocks.
The Upper Crust sells Cakes, Cookies, and Bread.
The Mad Electrician sells Redstone, Repeaters, Dispensers, Redstone Torches, Record Players, and Note Blocks.
All Merchants only accept payment in the form of server currency (Drachs). Merchants will not buy back goods from players, so all sales are final.
Quests
Nox Imperialis features NPC-based questing that doesn't require a menu of commands to use. Simply right-click the various questgivers to receive a quest proposal and type /npcq accept to embark on your quest!
To check the status of your quest, type /q info.
If you wish to drop your quest for some reason, type /q drop. Players can only drop a quest once every 15 minutes.
Current Questgivers:
Mason
Carpenter
Baker
Cook
Blacksmith
Glassblower
Electrician
The First Bank of Nox
The Fortress-City's Bank is the place where players can buy and sell gold ingots for Drachs. It is staffed at all times by two Teller NPCs and contains a secure vault where the entire worth of the server's economy is stored. Ingots can be bought and sold for the same price.
To buy or sell gold to a Teller, simply right click them to open up the merchant interface. Double-clicking will confirm your sale or purchase.
Current Price: 1000 Drachs per ingot.
The Grand Colosseum of Nox
The Grand Colosseum of Nox is where players can fight to the death to earn cash. When a player types the /pa red or /pa blue command, they will be instantly teleported to a team lobby where they pick their class. There are two classes:
Swordsman: Offensive class. Diamond sword & Iron armor.
Archer: Ranged class. Bow & Leather armor.
Once all the fighters are ready, they must give the signal to begin by punching an iron block located in the lobby. When the fight begins, every fighter will be brought to the fighting pit. Players who die in the pit will be teleported to the stands.
The Colosseum features interchangeable battlefields! Simply ask an admin before the fight begins to choose between one of seven unique fighting pits!
Players who wish to leave the fight BEFORE entering the fighting pit can type /pa leave.

Building in the City
The Fortress-City of Nox acts as a hub for the server. In addition, it also serves as a piece of interactive eye candy. The more impressive the city looks, the more it appeals to new players. Veterans on the server who have a history of building impressive, well-designed structures can petition for a building spot in one of the city's empty spaces. The structures built can serve any purpose, but must look realistic. Proposals for pixel art, floating buildings, or structures made of materials like glass or glowstone will be ignored.
The Gehenna Wastelands
Occasionally while digging deep underground, players may stumble across hidden portals that lead to a blazing desert full of shifting sands and decayed, crumbling ruins...
These are the Gehenna Wastelands, a cursed place of blight and ruin. Cursory examination of your surroundings will reveal signs that a vast, ancient civilization once ruled this land, but were wiped out by some terrible cataclysm. Whatever it was, it has scarred the land beyond recognition, leaving it a blasted, sun-scarred mausoleum. The very ground is riddled with ancient catacombs. Rumors hint at fantastic treasures hidden within their depths: Treasures protected by fiendish traps, slavering monsters, and cunning layouts designed to deter all but the cleverest of adventurers...
Are you brave enough to venture inside, knowing you may never return?
Starting a Town
In Nox Imperialis, players can create towns using the Towny plugin. Towns effectively carve out a safe zone in the wilderness, protecting their buildings... for a price. Here is a list of basic town information.
Towns are created via the /town new command. This will claim a single 16x16 chunk as your "home block" When creating your town, you need to choose a single-word name. Example: /town new Ironvale
To expand your town, you need to use the /town claim command on an adjacent unclaimed chunk. All claimed chunks expand a full 128 vertical blocks (bedrock to skytop).
To add/remove residents to your town, use the /town add and /town remove command. Only mayors or assistants can add/remove residents. Be sure to include the player's name when adding/removing. Example: /town add Dudeguy
To add/remove assistants to your town, use the /town assistant add and /town assistant remove commands. Assistants act as deputy mayors when the mayor is unavailable. Example: /town assistant add Dudeguy
To view a map of the surrounding chunks, type /towny map.
For a full list of commands, check out the /towny menu in-game.

General Rules
No client hacks or mods.If it enables cheating, we don't allow it. This includes the following: Flymods, Speedhacks, Wallhacks, Item spoofs, Airbuilding, and Xrays. Nox Imperialis uses plugins like NoCheat that expose and prevent cheating wherever possible. If one of our admins catches players using any of these, they will be banned without notice. And trust us, we will catch you. We're always watching, that's a guarantee.
Don't be an idiot. That's pretty self explanatory, but in case you're confused, being an idiot is defined as: Whining, demanding special favors, causing drama, and being a troll. If you're here to cause trouble or ask for the world on a silver platter, you're better off going somewhere else. We don't cater to overly-sensitive people, but that doesn't mean we'll put up with total morons either.
Don't play dumb. Our staff are always on the lookout for people who cheat or break the rules. When you're confronted with either, you can rest assured that we know it was you. Denying things only makes it worse for you. What might have been a quick sentence to the spawnjail may instead turn into a permanent ban. Don't even try it.
Read everything. The reason new players end up in the spawn jail is to ensure they know as much as possible before entering the server proper. By the time they've exited, they should be able to spend as much time playing as possible. More time playing means less time spent asking questions, and more time our staff have to devote to things like catching cheaters and ensuring fair play.
Respect the staff.Unlike a lot of other servers, we don't promote people to moderator positions lightly. They're held to a much higher standard, and Admins even more so. They've been given privileges that require a sense of maturity and patience, and if they ever stray from those expectations, then they'll be demoted without hesitation. When our staff ask you to comply with their wishes, you are expected to at all times... unless those wishes are extremely inconvenient or unfair. If you think any of our staff are acting unfairly or abusing their position, please report them immediately. The situation will be promptly investigated and taken care of. That's a promise.
