I have to say, I'm enjoying this server more than any other I've played so far. The players are reasonably mature, the world is tidy looking, and everyone I've met seems to be following the rules. The worst problem I've encountered is that occasionally I'll find a tree with the trunk knocked out. Recommended!

Structures: My main SSP world consists of a bunch of 32x32 boxes of varying height that I dug out just above lava level, but some stuff I've built in other worlds in the past includes:
- A large Coliseum-style arena with a mob spawning room underneath that fed monsters into the arena via water elevators and canals (with obsidian floor to prevent creeper damage).
- Several semi-large (about 30 blocks high) tree houses.
- A number of dungeon-spawner-powered mob grinders.
- A (as an added bonus, it blows up whoever loses).

EDIT: What version is the server running? 1.7.3? 1.8.1? 1.9pr2?

I've made a number of changes this month, including:

• Removed the whitelist. Now anyone can join and can freely roam the server to see if it's right for them.
• Ranks are back. Added a new Guest group for new players, restricted build rights until the player applies on the forums.
• As of Minecraft 1.2.4, generated new survival and creative worlds (AltairII and Morbius).
• Updated the main server post here, which was sorely needed.
• Increased bandwidth to support up to 20 players, increased cap to 15 for now.
• Added new hard drives (15K RPM SATA, RAID1), and new backup system.

Server updates 4/1/12:

• replaced BackToBody with DeathTp (use /deathtp for death respawn).
• added TrainCarts, which adds similar functional as Minecart Mania.
• more dynmap updates, including WorldBorder highlight and Topo (topographic) view.

Looking for build ideas on Altair II. As the server traffic is picking up I'd like to organize some themed builds (cities?).

Here's my thought:

• We pick a project that showcases our talents as architects, builders, and laborers.
• We define the goals, naming, location, building styles, and do some rough materials planning.
• One or two people are nominated (or volunteer) to supervise the project (base on experience?)
• Work is divided equally so that no one person is stuck collecting materials, unless they choose to.

Server updates 4/11/12:

• CraftBukkit updated to latest Recommended Build.
• All plugins have been updated, including a bug fix for dynmap to remedy the 'black-screen' issue.
• Uptime for month is near 100% (minus CB/plugin maintenance)

The server is now regularly hitting 12-15 players during prime-time (United States).

Server updates 4/12/12:

• Added TrainCarts plugin. This is similar to Minecart Mania and uses signs to control minecart behavior.

• Generated a new survival world (1.3.WGEN)
• Server is no longer grey-listed. Guests can self-promote to gain builder rank (Trusted). Directions are at the spawn.
• Removed TrainCarts plugin until further notice.

Server updates 9/4/12:

• TrainCarts plugin is back.
• Builders are needed for at least two large projects. See Hydranis or myself for details.
• Guests are unable to self-promote at this time. The plugin that controls this is currenty broken.
