I'm 23 and I currently reside in Okinawa Japan. I don't have any videos or screenshots of my work on hand, but I am more of an explorer and low-key fortress builder. I like to blend my buildings in with the surrounding countryside and the only things I grief are :SSSS:.
looking at yesterdays logs, it seems that world saving was disabled by the backup script, the backup script hung, and the server kept running without saving for about 5.5 hours yesterday, from 0000 MST 15 March - 0530 MST 15 March. Nothing was saved for that play period. I'm sorry Br000ka.
If the game goes for a long period without spamming Save Completed, there might be a problem. It's supposed to do it every half hour...
I'm a big fan of all of those. A couple more you might want to consider are Minecart Mania (for the rail systems), all of the voxel mods (makes it a LOT easier for creative editing, but they can do some serious damage if you don't know what you're doing), and CraftBook, which adds working gates and elevators (among other things) to the game.
I think it'd be awesome to get some genuine oceans and transports working in the server for to make cities that are a good distance apart, and those mods can do just that. Hope your vacation went well! Drive safe, and all that.
No need to name names, but one of our Moderators has been put on a 2 day removal of mod status. Rule: Don't be a jerk. If you do want to tease someone in game, thats okay, but make sure it's clear that you're teasing them. Escalation to all caps calling another user a Noob that doesn't understand anything? Thats what I want Mods to be preventing, not causing.
All in all, it was a situation that just got a bit out of hand. 2 day suspension ends 20 March 1600 CST, if I remember to log back in then, if not sooner.
Biometerrain is changing a bit. I'm having difficulty getting the updated version to work with the world file. i keep getting either the entire world overwritten, or hard edges where new terrain is generated. Investigating.
i agree with khal's suguestions for the pluggins of minecart mania and the craftbook ones. they both ad a veryy nice touch to some servers.
i havent had much time to look through many mods but initial list you posted groovy seems like theyd be great.
not sure how crazy we want to get with bukit pluggins so id be happy to just keep them as that. either way.

i think itd be great to maybe get mobs running again. and turn off creepers so all the lovely buildings dont get destroyed.
i think itd be especially awesome to have mobs back for the next update for 1.4 as the addition of wolfs for pets would be pretty damn awesome.
obviously things need to be taking into consideration with this though because random pigs and cows spawning can be a pain sometimes. (cart tracks ect).
oh very true, i completely forgot about the lag. coming from australia i should know all about it. haha.
also as a side note. it seems one of the ne bukkit pluggins is conflicting with the original /give command.
everything still works fine so its not a major issue however when you /give something a msg apears saying command not know type /help ect.
the mats are still /given though so like i said, not a major issue.
My favorite idea would be to run two worlds, one plain and flat with mobs and the like, and the one we currently have.
I'm almost certain there are multi-world mods out there that can do this. With world guard you can set mobs to be on in certain areas/worlds, I believe, so we can make our creative world no mobs and the other world a survival, non-biometerrain area.
You could set it up so that building in the creative server is easier and then when you enter the survival
area, you lose your inventory and have to start from scratch with no /give or creative powers allowed.
