Here's the roof of my castle as it sits now, I just liked the pattern so I figured I'd put it up here.
This is right before I finished the roof; looks like the original XBOX logo right?
These are the video glitches I've been talking about. Imagine putting up with this and an FPS of 5-10 and that's my daily play.
This last glitch pic is interesting; imagine the sand texture and iron texture fighting eachother in rapid time. It looked like a disco was going on in my castle! BTW, I haven't used any iron for this project.
This is my favorite server and i love the rank system, i look forward to playing in one of the few freebuild/survival servers for Minecraft. I started playing almost 2 1/2 weeks ago and now i cant stop playing, I almost get on every day!

I use flint, not knowing that it was banned, and using it on a square of grass (doesn't spread), and I'm thrown into this freakish weird dungeon which I wasn't allowed to leave until I escaped. The hell? Talk about power abuse.

No, that's a anti-grief measure. Security's gotten tighter, I guess. What with that Beta and the wonderful chaos I ended up missing.

YOUR MINECRAFT ACCOUNT IS YOUR RESPONSIBILITY, TREAT IT AS IF IT WERE A WAD OF CASH.
Typo, how many times did you click? If you clicked repeatedly that created chat spam (in the form of a bunch of 'illegal item' messages), they likely sent you to jail to get your attention so you realize that the item is banned. Chat spam is annoying. You should review the banned items list. I believe you can view it at the spawn somewhere.
I rather dislike your insinuation that power is being abused (and the attitude with which you stated it). It's not. And especially not in the situation you described.

So how does jailing prevent grief if the item is unusable, fire automatically goes out if started, and it can't spread if it is started? The scripts already prevented the grief.

I clicked once, then immediately stated I was sorry when I saw the illegal item message, then throw the item out of my inventory towards an admin. I just logged on and there is no prompt telling me what to do to view rules or banned items. There's one for telling me how to view commands, but commands =/= rules or banlist.

Actually it's quite visible. Rules were not clearly stated in the first post of the thread, the server's website, or the prompts upon logging onto the server, so I did not know them. I used Flint on a patch of grass, which does not spread even without scripts. Even if this was griefing, which it's not, scripts automatically informed me that the fire was illegal, and put out the fire. At this point I had broken no stated rules, nor did I grief. I immediately apologized and threw the Flint out of my inventory towards an admin. At this point I was thrown into jail where I wasted 10 to 15 minutes trying to escape. This is a form of power abuse: instilling punishments that are greater than the crime, or in this case, the lack thereof.

A comprehensive 'rules' list is in the works, in the meantime use your best judgment...

The banlist for each server is different. Some servers have nothing banned. Others have only lava banned. Others have all fire, fire makers, and lava banned. Others have all water, fire, and lava banned. One of my favorite servers has Obsidian banned. If there's no list, the only way to find out is through trial and error. If "using my best judgment" means "don't try anything", then why should anyone bother joining the server?

If you're this unhappy with the server. Find another. We don't want complainers with poor attitudes here. I'm sure the admin who sent you to jail (which admin did you throw the flint at anyway?) had his/her reasons. After just coming out of the chaos of Beta, it may be that the admins are being extra vigilant for griefers. Don't be such a poor sport. It's not like you were banned. Although I'm tempted to do that if I ever see you there, just for your poor attitude and lack of respect for authority.
Please ignore The1R0NMonkey. He is showing immature and certainly unpromotable behaivor.
If you were jailed it was most likely NOT a moderator or Admin. Almost every mod or admin I know would simply warn you if you used an illegal item once, and if you spammed the chat trying again they would kick you.
Recently many "trusted" players have been creating jails to imprison people for fun or otherwise, and I personally don't tolerate this. They are NOT allowed to play God with people underneath their rank, even if it's just for fun. SImply disallowing commands and /tphere'ing people to your jail is not cool. We want to create a positive environment for all our guests, and some people aren't helping.
Sooo.... Always remember /tptoggle and /tpheretoggle, they prevent other people from teleporting to you and teleporting you to them. If you are ever put in jail and don't see a mod or admin tell you that they did it, politely ask to be spawned warped away.
As ekeup said, we are hard at work on an official server rules list which should be put into full effect as soon at it's finished. You will be able to see it on our website, these forums, and using in-game commands. This (hopefully) will eliminate any mod/admin discretion and make illegal items, kickable and bannable offenses clear to everyone.

This is precisely why I DO NOT think guests & trusteds should be allowed to tphere! It is just BEGGING for abuse.
And I disagree ben. I think that's the smartest thing Ironmonkey has said. If you do not like the server, then LEAVE. No one is forcing you to stay. We like having new players who are respectful and polite, but I'm getting the feeling that Typo has a problem with authority. I could be wrong, of course, but his attitude here on the forum is poor enough. I guess we'll see how he is in game, if he decides to come back.

I completely agree with this. Jails are annoying and I don't think guest and trusteds should build them (or at least if they do, don't put people in them without permission first) or have tphere. I'm saying this as a trusted person on this server, not a mod or anything like that. It's super annoying to be tphere'd when your working on something and don't have a warp or home set and then can't get back to where you were. Also I hate being tp'd to jail for no reason by people I don't even know. Yes, I do know you can toggle tping.
Anyways, just thought I'd throw in my 2cents. Hope everyone's having a fantastic holiday season!! Cheers to the best server in all of MC!
I have the same issues with people tphere'ing, but I wouldn't want it disallowed. I've always asked if I could bring someone to me so they have time to set up; this isn't to mess with them but to show them something I'm working on. I've also tried to use tptoggle every time I'm on to avoid the random person getting in the way of construction.
As with rules, when the list is finished, will you all be using !rules as it is already implemented in Simple Server? Then all you would have to do is add "Type !rules" in the MOTD without actually adding some new feature. Just my two cents.

Guests aren't the problem. It's trusteds like expert700 and whatnot. I must admit I had a little fun with jails when we first got them. I should take partial responsibility for not setting a good example when we got them. Anyway, I haven't seen any guests build jails. For now, I'm just going to say "stop it" when people jail other people. I'd be a hypocrite acting like I'd never done it for fun myself.
It's ok Megasus, everyone's a hypocrite in some way or another. It's mostly just trying to share wisdom. Also, your picture looks like it has a MASSIVE mustache, like....rich man from the 40s mustache. Is that what it's supposed to be?

hahahahahahahaha dude that's not a person XD it's optimus prime! I can see the mustache though; I laughed. out loud.
In that case, the server is full. You should wait until it's less 'crowded'. Why are you even asking us in this part of the forum?
If you're non-human, you clearly and naturally underestimate us.
Because he can, and this is the server's forum, btw sre, Christmas is here, what better time to donate for the reserve list :smile.gif:
