I am sorry about that Epik_Russian. I took a look into the griefing and it seems like there has been a fire. For some reason I cannot roll it back, but I will keep trying. Also I am probably going to move the server later today so expect downtime.

I managed to get permission back up, but it seems like a lot of other plugins are broken aswell. I will try and fix them all today, which means I will probably restart the server a lot today, but as of now it should be playable again. Additionally the McMyAdmin message should be gone now.
EDIT:
We are now 100% up and running and I will probably not restart the server anymore today.

I am very sorry about that.. But I am really busy in real life with school and work and I cannot handle the server alone. The entire new admin team just left one day and I haven't heard from Sparky in a while as well. The server is still there and can easily be revived, but as I said, I cannot handle it alone.
Hey guys, been logging in every so often and working on my fortress
However, I just moved out of the city a few weeks ago and still could be another month before I get internet on my computer again. Hope to see everyone again soon.

I haven't played myself for a very long time. But I've heard rumors about a big update one of the following days. This will probably mean a bit of downtime to the server, till the most important plugins gets updated.
Again, since I don't play, I am always looking for admins and moderators for the server. Currently I don't think any of the old mods or admins are active (correct me if I'm wrong), which means we are in even greater need. I see no reason to ever totally shut down the server, as I remember how great the community used to be on it. The only reason it's so inactive, is because we have no active admins on it.
The server I am using is expiring April 1. But I am of course upgrading to an even better server, so no concern there. It'll just mean a few hours of downtime sometime late Marts, that is all.

I transferred the data to the new server, but I did not start up the server yet. I am not sure if it needs to be updated or something like that, this is something I will have to look into.

It is definitely possible, but I lack the time to maintain it. I can probably find time to start it and such sometime, but I still need admins to maintain it.

A good friend of mine who goes by Vntqmm is setting up the server as I write this. It will probably be a few days to a week till he is done but then the server will be alive again. I have told him to do as he pleases, as I know he will become a great and active admin on the server if he can build the server just right. But you should expect the server to somewhat change, as it is not me who is maintaining the server anymore, although I of course help him.
This also means we are starting over again (I am sorry, but this is necessary). I will try and see if I can find the good old backups of the old map somewhere if anyone wants this, I know Zoidberg has some, but I don't know if he will freely distribute these.
I hope you will like the new server and of course feel free to leave feedback and suggestions right here, I am sure Vntqmm will appreciate it.

We have not discussed Mods yet, but the VIP system will change and all old VIPs will be given some sort of VIP rank on the server again of course. But how it exactly is going to work I am not sure of yet.
Somehow with the course of the night, after coming back to my dorm and screwing around. Procrastinating my Calculus 3 homework, I started thinking about Minecraft, and when I started playing the game. It was in August of 2010 that I started, right in the heart of alpha. It was in these times that I discovered this server, with the floating "island" or whatever it was that Sinn_ah_taggh had built and was moderating way way back in the day. I was 12 years old. At 12 years old playing this game, exchanging diamonds for a spot in this floating landscape.
Now I sit here, an 18 year old Engineering student. Can't help reminisce on the old times, the great memories and the people that I met on this server. How many hours, weekends, months, and years I spent playing this game on this server. It evokes such nostalgia. I see that the server has had a few burps of activity here and there. I wish in the bustle and rush of everyday life, just for one weekend, we could go back to the alpha, beta stage of the game, back to the old maps, with the old moderating group and the old players. Just for one weekend to relive those memories.
I would love to hear from those of you who maybe got an email from the forum because I commented on this post. I am surprised I even got into this account considering its been inactive for so many years and since my emails and my passwords have changed.
I love remembering such fond old memories like these. Would love to hear from some of you original guys.

Hello guys! It sure has been a while, I am grateful that you cherish the server, I sure do cherish the memory of the good old days back in the alpha too. I love that I somehow contributed to your good memories, even though I have to give most of the credit to the moderators and specially Sinn. I do still talk with him every now and again and he is doing really great!
Unfortunately I have cancelled the server as no one was maintaining or playing on the Minecraft server and that was the last thing I used it for, it was pretty expensive considering that I too am a student. I think the server will be down around the 20'th of May. I can probably arrange some other hardware or extend it for a while if you are really interested in this project, but unfortunately it requires a lot of time and work to maintain a Minecraft server. The last couple of people who tried to do so all got surprised by the amount of work.
I would be interested in a small "get-together" myself if you can manage to gather some people for sure. Maybe one last project on a freebuild server? I don't know, let me know what you think.

Greetings to anyone still present on this forum!
I must admit i haven't visited these forums for ages and ages and had long thought that Elme's was long gone and that only the fond memories remained!
It would seem that i was somewhat right, but also glad to see that i was wrong and that the server until recently actually was still alive!
When i received a message from Elme about this thread i was very surprised, but also excited. I think there is a part of me that never wants to see the server die and that i somehow think that it will come back in one form of another.
I am also very glad to see so many familiar names still loyal and fond of the server that so many people spent countless hours on and called their home for so many years!
This community is the only community that i have had such a close and solid relationship with for such an extended period of time!
Nate, (the player formerly known as Eggo, as i will from now on still refer to as Eggo!) your memories are a great example of how great the server was and how closely knitted the community was, and in some sense still is.
I think its amazing to think about that you now are 18 years old and have started on a path that might just have been inspired by our shenanigans on Elmes by studying engineering.
This for me is the highest reward for being an admin on the server and devoting my time to ensure quality and stability for the players that called Elmes for home.
Not many players remain from the golde age of pre-alpha and alpha from when Elme first started his server, but the ones that remain are still here because of the great times we had together and the adventures we made.
I hope that most of you also have fond memories from your time on this amazing server.
The time we spent together will forever be in my memories and i am thankful for each and every player (even the griefers and trolls) that came by and made it the special place it was!
I have made some great friends on this server and met people that i came to love and adore for more then just the blocks and TNT!
SkyCity, Ygdrasil, Wookie city, Parthenon, Bender, the Taj Mahal, Muhas maze, the floating city, the pirate boat, the miles and miles and miles of railways, and all the crazy redstone contraptions....
The list of amazing builds that have been made (and destroyed) over the years is too long to list here, but some things are still fresh in my mind!
Raise hands if you can remember the burning of SkyCity....!
I guess im a bit sentimental when writing this, but that is ok because the time spent and the memories gained and friends made are simply unprecedented and impossible to put a price on!
So in a sense i am sad to see that the server is going down, but all good things must come to an end!
The amount of work, time and energy needed to maintain a server can overwhelm anyone and is not to be taken lightly!
Many people have tried and most have failed one way or another, but we must recognize their attempts and efforts as to not let it all be in vain!
Even if this server goes down for good this time, i will for ever have my memories and friends from a time when thins were blockier and filled with creepers and wonderful people.
If by some sort of miracle and the server would get a (small) revamp i would love to come by and witness it and to play a game of nostalgia and sentimentality
Finally, if you are still reading after all that sentimental stuff, i want to extend a personal expression of gratitude to everyone i crossed paths with over the years.
You made my time on Elmes unforgettable!
And last but no least i have to extend my greatest thanks and respects to the main man himself, the one and only Elmegaard!
Your efforts, time and dedication is the foundation of everything and everyone on your server.
Thanks to you we ha this wonderful time to lock back on and remember with fondness and happiness!
Thanks for everything buddy, it has been an honor and a privilege to be an admin on your server!

Sorry I haven't been able to fix this yet. This breakdown happened just when I left for a vacation. I will try and see if I can fix it today.

RIP Elme's server.
Any chance the server could be brought back up online? Or is anyone able to personally contact Elmegaard about it?
I transferred the data to the new server, but I did not start up the server yet. I am not sure if it needs to be updated or something like that, this is something I will have to look into.
Oh wow that was a really quick response from you Elmegaard, Thank you. Before I thought the server won't be brought back online.

I think he is getting close with the server. We should see it up and running sometime this week.
That's great, i'm really looking forward to playing again. Question: Are people going to be able to keep their ranks? As in VIP or MOD?
