FAQ
Who are you? Why should we trust you'll see this whole thing through?
My name is Ryan. I'm 23. I love Minecraft and want to learn all technical aspects. I used to make a bunch of corky YouTube videos for fun, not taking the process seriously and now I'd like to change that! I used to try and take everything with YouTube seriously, but could only get so far because paying bills / life got in the way. After years of living on my own and starting a small business locally I can now devote more time and focus where it's needed to make this work!
What is the minimum age requirement?
I am setting the age requirment to 18 years old for many reasons, however if your 16/17 and can convince me enough through your application that you'll be mature / stay consistent then I'll consider possibilities.
Are there rules/goals on the server?
Because we are going to be interviewing and speaking with potential members in-depth for a couple of weeks before officially inviting them on, griefing won't ever be an issue and shouldn't even be thought of as a concern. Once again we are modeling wonderful servers like hermitcraft. Otherwise, the only rules are to give each other plenty of room to build and be considerate and kind to other members at all times! With YouTubes new rules, no in game chat cursing!!! What you do on your video with your voice is up to you however
.
As far as goals for individual members and/or the community; individually you can build what you choose in your area and as much red stone that the server can handle, while setting up contraptions for reduction of lag, etc. still all is welcome. When it comes to community goals, we will have a community project each season that entails a massive build of some proportion.
I'd like to give rough boundaries to each member each season, just stating hey, your at "x2000 y64 z5000" and then borders will never be a thing. Once again we interview in a sense for loss of all and annoying people.
Why does the Application / Interview process take so long?
We all hate trolls and people who waste our time. This will filter those people guaranteed. We are setting up a community that has passionate, caring people. GREATNESS TAKES TIME! Be patient.
How many slots are open?
For the start of season 1, I'd prefer to have a solid 6-7 people, all who are consistent content creators.
Do you own the rights to my videos? Do you require a certain number of videos that I have to create each week?
NO NO NO! You own all rights to your content. All income if you choose to monetize videos is yours. This is strictly a place for collaborative fun. Are we looking for those that will stay consistent, yes. Are we looking for those who post at least once a week roughly, yes. But do we hold you to any of this? No! If you are granted access as a member... you are a member! We are there for you!
How many GB does the server have?
As the server grows we will be expanding the allocated memory and Ram towards the server to handle all that red stone goodness and contraptions possible!
What if I apply, become a member and want to start playing within the community right away to become familiar with everyone?
No problem! I have the server white-listed and already set up, starting in season 0! While in Season 0, we are also encouraging members to create a survival serious on the server for hype of Season 1!
Can I live-stream on the server?
Absolutely! As long as YouTube is the focus as that's what our community will be centered around!
Will each Season be in the same World Save or a whole new Spawn?
Each Season will have a new world save entirely! This gives more room for improvement and epic start overs each go around!
What is season 0? Why not just start with Season 1?
Season 0 is our first and rough test season where accepted members can start making content for season 0 and begin to market the idea of a great season 1 official start up!!!
Can I apply once Season 1 starts? Will the applications always be viewed for potential new members?
Yes! We will always be accepting applications. Before the start of every season we will try to bring on 2 - 5 new members, however we never want to exceed 20 players unless it still works with everyone and there's not too much going on.
People naturally will move on from the server as members, as things happen and that's just life... so you'll always have an opportunity.
Take this with a grain of salt however as we strongly frown up people leaving!!! We want veterans on the server.
How do I Apply to join the server?
I'd like to make this as seamless and smooth as possible, with an organic fresh approach to "applications". To apply I am going to ask for you you to just describe yourself, YouTube aspirations and history with Minecraft. Please copy, paste and fill out the format below, without changing font and making yourself obnoxious. Thanks!
Make your application meaty and full of love / proof you truly care!
Describe Yourself:
Youtube Goals/Aspirations (Realistic Ones):
Minecraft History/Knowledge (How long have you played for?/Technical?/Build Well?/Etc.?):
YouTube Channel Name/Embeded Videos:
Your efforts made via application help describe your future efforts towards this community!
**Just because your application has lots of words doesn't mean it's necessarily a quality one**
The Spoiler below displays a spectacular example of an application!
Although I can’t join you now brother, since I consider you a fellow assassin, and you’ve been there for me since the beginning of my channel, I hereby deliver my application for future consideration (someday when I can find the time!):
Describe Yourself: I feel pretty freaking old (got you by a few years Ryan). I’m a project manager for a software company and I’ve got a ton of hobbies. I’ve been playing around with software like photoshop, premiere, and audacity for years teaching myself how to use them. I’ve built PC’s and spent way too much money on my current one. I have a hobby in photography that will always be a hobby. I’m married to an amazing woman and have 2 awesome dogs. We all live together in downtown Dallas, TX.
Youtube Goals/Aspirations (Realistic Ones): My channel has been up for around a month and concentrates currently on a Vanilla survival let’s play. There’s plans for some other types of content as well. My hope is to create high quality (audio, video, entertainment value) content and build awesome and useful stuff. I want to show people that anyone can build this crazy stuff, even those with little knowledge. My goals with youtube are to grow my channel and create an awesome community that I can interact with. I’d love to someday quit my job and play video games all day, but realistically I’ll just settle for having an awesome time making videos that people enjoy.
Minecraft History/Knowledge (How long have you played for?/Technical?/Build Well?/Etc.?): I bought my copy of minecraft on PC in 2013. I played for awhile with my little brother on XBOX before that. My knowledge of game mechanics is fairly high (always something new to learn) and I have a decent knowledge of redstone. Enough to figure out how to get things together and working. My building skills aren’t amazing, but I have a lot of fun putting builds together. One of my hopes with youtube is to become a better builder with the help of my viewers. I like to figure things out for myself whenever possible, or take whatever builds are considered the “best” and make them my own. Some things are just going to work so following someone else’s tutorial is just a better idea sometimes, but I try to avoid it where I can.
Guys, Ryan is a seriously awesome guy. If you’re on edge on whether or not you should apply just do it. This guy has stuck around for me and helped me grow my channel at the beginning here without any ask from me.
**For any other questions please just ask away and I will respond as soon as possible!**
Hello! I just read the post and this server idea sounds amazing! I do have a question though. If I were to apply and then become accepted onto the server, would I be allowed to livestream on the server from time to time, as I am also focused on twitch as well as YouTube? In addition, what if I were to move my livestreams over to YouTube gaming instead?

Thanks in advance and I hope you have a nice day!
These are all wonderful questions and I'm thankful for your inquiry!
Streaming is 100% a yes, as long as YouTube is the focus and kept up with. If you can juggle YouTube and streaming around at the same time, then hats of to you! Like I said again and would like to re-iterate, quality people with quality skills are the goal. 'HermitCraft' didn't become what it is today through not putting in the effort.
As far as "moving live-streams over to YouTube Gaming" I assume you are referring to uploading the stream straight to your YouTube channel in full. I did not want to state that members have to edit with titles and Introductions in their videos, outros, decent graphics, etc. because I feel that's being a bit too specific and can be kind of rude in a sense. Uploading a Stream straight to YouTube however, makes for boring YouTube content, at least from a viewer retention stand point. So i'd have to say no on the straight stream uploads UNLESS... you also had great videos alongside the stream uploads and the stream uploads were like a bonus to your viewers or something.
As I was typing this i realized that it sounds a little bossy, as if we are telling you what to upload or not. That is not the case at all! Upload whatever you want, it's just up to us to decide whether your content style, edits and etc. would go well within the community. Once again we'd like to include people who have been at the YouTube grind for a while or have great quality!
I will add these questions to the FAQ, Thank you! I hope you choose the apply
Thank you for applying and taking the time to check out the server! We are going to be pretty strict on the age however, so I'll have to decline your entry. Keep the content creation up, work on your video quality a bit more and who knows? A few years down the road you could be a sure possibility!
I will have to reply with the same sort of response as I did to Penguinish. I seriously don't like saying no, I just have a sense for those who truly care, have the maturity and can create great content. Keep up the improvements in the mean time though!

Tyssassin man, you've sure helped to set the tone when it comes to writing up a quality application! After searching around the forums going a couple months back, I found your videos and knew pretty instantly that your dedication to the process was as real as it gets. That my friend is not easy to come by! For anyone who applies seriously, I'd hope they review your application as a prime example.
You have the setup to entise me to invite you, let alone writing up a stunning application. While I was searching around, I had mentioned to a buddy how excited I was you were around at all. Prosperity through YouTube is in your future and I would be more than honored to have you on the server when your time is found!
Go ahead and consider yourself accepted for a voice to voice interview within the near future, whether you join the server in 3 months or 2 years. Your acceptance is permanent.
I have an insanely huge passion for photography as this is the field for the small business I am currently running. Local realty photography and video services is what I'm going for. So far, things are looking up. Heck, working for myself is great! We'll be able to talk photography and tech day in and out eventually.
I have a friend who is a year younger than I, going for his masters in coding and programming. He lives in Texas himself, actually quite near to you. It's just ironic because I met him through playing Minecraft!
Overall, I can't express my excitement through chat enough. With a good personality, quality content, consistency and discipline... I have no doubts you'll achieve your goals.
And thank you so much for the kind words at the end there
