-Character name: Kato Ozulox
-Character race: Human
-Character gender: Male
-Character age: 20
-Character Occupation Aspiring Mage
-Character description:
Kato is a 5'9" Human male, with vibrant blue eyes, and dirty blonde hair.
He has a small frame, but is not weak. The most muscle he has is in his legs, from all the running and walking he does.
-Character personality and traits:
Kato has a bit of false bravado, that quickly disappears, when he is put into a dangerous or awkward situation in which he doesn't quite understand what to do.
He would kill an entire group of people, just so he wouldn't have to be bothered by them anymore... As long as there would be no chance of him being hurt or judged for it. (Which there always is).
That said, if you earned his respect, he would jump in front of a blade for you.
-Character biography:
Kato grew up on a large farm, and relished in what little knowledge he could find, in books and such. Being rather lazy, he was always in trouble on the farm, for skipping a job,or trying to trick somebody else into doing it.
When he was young, his father left to fight against the demons pouring from the monstrous gates opening all around Saphriel, but It was not until the war was over, that he heard news of his father. He had been killed while the army made its way to the Obelisk.
This news greatly saddened the entire farm, and his father was remembered honorably. This experience allowed Kato to finally learn the value of hard work, as he knew that his laziness was only hurting the farm.
However, his willpower would never be put to good use, as soon after the war had ended, and the news of his father was delivered, a mob of Beasts that he was unable to identify attacked his farm. The damage would have been negligible had they not knocked torches into the dry hay, causing a small fire, which quickly enveloped the barn, and then the trees, and then the houses.
He ran, from the fire that was burning the farm, and by the time he had come back, the farm was nothing but ash. There were few survivors, and none from his family.
So, still very young, he was forced to take the remainders of the farm, and walk with them to Falkvard, where they worked to earn their keep.
However, a local mage noticed something odd about the traumatized boy, Kato. Somehow, he suspected that he could be a magic user.
Perhaps it was because he learned so quickly, or because of his natural wit.
Whatever the reason, he took Kato in, and taught him how to use weak magic artifacts, for better or for worse.

Youre walking around the markets at around noon. Theres a lot of people around you, still gathering their items as they prepare to shut down their many stands. Suddenly you feel a gentle lifting of your coin purse as a child graces you and soon after they take off sprinting. You have been robbed.
I turn my head towards the child, almost running after them, before remembering that the only thing in the pouch is gravel, placed there so that the others didn't think ill of me for being poor. If only I had something in there worth chasing after...
Youre heading back to the city through the woods when you hear a whining coming from nearby. Upon further investigation you come across a grey-coloured wolf that appears to have its leg caught in a bear trap. Around it is three smaller lumps of fur, obviously puppies belonging to the trapped mother. Without help, theyll all die, but wolf skins are quite valuable too, not to mention that the nearby farms suffer quite a bit from the wolf population.
A look of worry passes over my face, and I inspect the damage. Nothing too major, it only pierced the skin. Someone has been giving their traps little up-keep.
I chuckle lightly at that thought, as I free the wolf, not expecting it to bite me.
My suspicions are correct, as the beast merely growls, before I back away, and head towards my home.

-Magic Biography; Explain the reason you want your character to have magic through backstory application:
Kato was born with the ability to use magic, although, he did not discover it until a local mage of Falkvard became suspicious, and tested him.
He longs to hone his ability, to use the power of the elements, particularly ice, to destroy his enemies and further his own power.
However, he thinks that he could never gain as much power as he wants in such a short amount of time as 80 years. He has heard tales of vampires, and their agelessness, and so he plans to somehow become a vampire, ignorant of their curses, in his pursuit of magic.
-Please give an example in your own words describing the limitations placed upon those who use magic:
If you use magic too much in battle, you could become too tired to perform any physical attacks, leaving you an easy target.
Not only that, but Magic requires skill and dedication. To master it, you must use time to study magic that you could use for studying blades, or other physical weapons, so you can only be well-versed in one thing.
-Please give a description of the magic system in your own words:
Magic is a tool, accessed through tools, such as trinkets or artifacts. Like all tools, it requires skill. To hone this skill you must practice well and hard.
-You are given a weak trinket of ice, you haven't had much practice with magic yet, but you will try your best. Describe some things you could/would do with this trinket:
I would use this trinket to preserve food, saving money on salt (used to preserve meat), and in battle, I could slow my opponent, by making him cold.

-Character description (At least one to two paragraphs describing your character’s visual appearance.):
A living embodiment of the rarity of most humans, Zach has extraordinary hair that has become almost silver grey in color. He stands as an outlier in height as well, standing at just over six foot tall. From here however he falls in line with many others. He has sharp, dark green eyes and a keen perception.
Overall, he has an athletic build, broad shoulders, and long legs. His hair falls down to his chin and is more often pushed back out of his face. More often than not he has at least one weapon in a back-sheath and a coat or cloak on his back no matter what the season.
-Character personality and traits (At least one to two paragraphs describing their personality traits and/or quirks.):
Zach overall has a rather confident demeanor about him. Standing tall (both in literal and figurative manors) he has adapted to how life has treated him and has become resilient to the effects of change. He also keeps himself rather calm and collected, rarely unable to stop himself from being impatient or impulsive about most situations. Being level headed he is able to make decisions in the heat of the moment and stick with them no matter what the situation calls for, but is far from afraid to admit when he was wrong. This goes well with his consistent determination and charismatic speaking ability.
However, he does suffer from a few negatives that couple the positives. While he does seem calm on the outside, his mind always seems to be working out any possible situation, meaning that he often times seems deep in thought or worrying about several different outcomes. Consistent physical and emotional scaring that has left him resilient has also in some ways left him vulnerable, a trait that he does his best to hide from others since he’s begun to see this as his greatest weakness. Keeping himself calm is a task all on its own as well, meaning that he either holds himself back with every little bit of energy he has, or lets himself fly into a blind rage, something that isn’t pretty
. -Character biography (At least three paragraphs describing your character's history and experiences):
The campfire blazed rather consistently, surprising to both my friend and I because of how horrid our kindling had been, but it filled us with some happiness, enough in fact for us to take a break and drink while our food cooked
My friend looked up at me as he took a drink and smiled
“Ya know Zach, I think we’ve shared a lot of stories about how we grew up, yet I don’t remember the one you always tell.”
I just laughed, knowing he enjoyed the way I always told stories and that no matter how many times I could tell the same one, he always enjoyed them. I took a drink before I started speaking
“Fate…fate is the cruelest mistress you know. When all seems well with the world, she will take from you, again and again and again. Yet! That is the true test of faith and resilience. My life from even when I was a kid is proof of this. I grew up losing everything, time and time again, it builds up on you until one day you’re either broken or stand taller than before. Let’s start at the beginning though.
My family has always been like an enigma; we stand out a lot just by our physical characteristics alone. Dark silver hair, nearly white eyes, athletic build. All by that last one are probably due to who my father was, the last one is defiantly due to my father. I grew up going through rigorous training day in and day out, mainly because my father wanted me to grow up and be like him. “
I laughed again
“That being said, I haven’t really done to well at that job, but I think that’ll change soon enough. Nevertheless, back to the story. It’s not really a secret that I grew up just outside of Barkamsted, not too far, but just far enough that I didn’t have to deal with a lot of people. We always kept an eye on for anything that might come for us of course, not like we were dumb enough to ever let our guard down.
We weren’t rich, but we definitely weren’t poor. My mother was a tailor, taught me every little bit of the tiny amount of knowledge I have involved with making clothes, or at least what I need it more for, fixing torn jackets and shirts. My father on the other hand taught me everything he knew about fighting: hand to hand, swordplay, and a few blunt weapons and pole arms,
Damn sure was an interesting childhood. I think I just sat around and learned from the time I was ten until I turned fourteen. After four intensive years of training from my father, I figured I was old enough to go out on my own and try to stay on par with my father and his job as a guard.
That was the night…the night my father had died when he went out looking for me. I’m fuzzy on the details, but all I ever managed to learn was that he had been attacked by several people and died in the street, nobody stopping to even attempt and save him from the people. I think that’s why I haven’t really followed along with what my father wanted…he’d always dreamed I’d join the guards and well…I dunno, make some great change and help people I guess.
Moving on from that…my life just kept staying on that same path I think. I continued to train as much as I could even against my mother’s wishes. I think she had come to the conclusion that if I kept doing as my father had done that she would lose me too. Ironically, that wasn’t the case.
Just shy of a year later, disaster struck again. Whether it had been by accident or by fates cruel hand an act of arson took my home as well as the last of my family. My mother died in that fiery incident. Now at fifteen I was left with nothing. Distressed, depressed, and angry at everything, and yet I did my best to let go of those feelings and emotions. Only for the time being at least. Now at only fifteen I dug the grave for my mother and took care of the funeral and burial rights, keeping a calm clear mind as I knew she would want me too.
It hurt, it really did, but I wasn’t as if I was without skill to help me, or as few and far between as they were, friends who would be willing to help me figure out what to do next with my life. So I did the most logical thing and…There’s not a logical thing to do at that time other than break down and cry. I had lost everything, and I think that’s the thought that had just kept going through my mind for so long.
It was like that for a few days before I picked myself up and decided I was going to do as my father had wished and make some sort of difference, starting with finding that arsonist.
When you mention arson, it’s not hard for somebody to start pointing fingers, which became my biggest problem. I spent two years following false clues, faux descriptions, and hitting only dead ends, at least until I took up one last lead that lead me to the man who had been responsible for my mother’s death.
Standing face to face with him was almost surreal, I won’t delve too deep into what happened after that however, I’ve always preferred to leave that to the imagination. After that however, I followed my fathers path just once more it seems. I could always remember him telling stories about how he had been a criminal and well, after killing a man it seems like I was on the same path he had been.
So, I got as far away as I could from everybody, staying to myself for the longest time, trying to figure out what I wanted to do with myself. Nothing felt the same anymore, in fact, nothing was the same anymore. I knew I was going to have to grow up even more than I already had in these past few years.
That’s when I had the thought of leaving, just never coming back and finding whatever work I could elsewhere. Now as you can tell, that didn’t work well, the rest of the realm isn’t exactly hospitable as of now after all.
-Please give us a short RP response to these two scenarios. (At least one paragraph for each):
You’re walking around the markets at around noon. There’s a lot of people around you, still gathering their items as they prepare to shut down their many stands. Suddenly you feel a gentle lifting of your coin purse as a child graces you and soon after they take off sprinting. You have been robbed.
Zach places his hand on the pommel of this sword and moves his hand towards where the coin purse was before sighing and starting to weave through the crowd, following the child through the crowd. Being able to follow the child is no easy task because of the crowd, but Zach makes due before finally catching up to the kid.
The child by now knowing he’s been followed by the man he had stolen from is obviously terrified. For a moment Zach contemplates what he could do before smiling and patting the child on the head. “Be glad I’m in a good mood kid, it won’t always be that way if you try and steal from somebody.”
You’re heading back to the city through the woods when you hear a whining coming from nearby. Around it is three smaller lumps of fur, obviously puppies belonging to the trapped mother. Without help, they’ll all die, but wolf skins are quite valuable too, not to mention that the nearby farms suffer quite a bit from the wolf population.
This takes Zach a long moment before sighing and speaking more to himself than anyone else, even if it was directed towards the wolves.
“I get nothing other than coin for your pelt…fate rewards those who go out of their way to help however…”
*He sighs before going over to help the mother free from the trap and letting her go.*
“Be free for now, you have much to take care of with those pups needing a mother…” *he then simply walks away, leaving the life of the wolf to fate.*
Lovely application, and we're glad that you included that the slavers posed as a mercantile company. Slavery has been illegal icly for time out of mind, but it does exist in some dark corners of society. Please keep in mind that there was a very long lasting war that would have served as backdrop to most of Rivan's life. Humorously he'll have missed the end of it during his time in the mines.
Please also note he will not in fact be a near master of the blade. That is earned in time, but he is obviously skilled.
This one was a bit borderline. It's good in essence, nearly there in spirit, but we require a bit more detail if you can manage. The lore inclusion is fine, though you should probably account for the presence of the war. Either way, I suggest bumping up his age a bit, 26 is roughly 18, unless that was your intent. Then by all means.
What I'd like to see is just a touch more work and effort. It really is at the razor's edge.

Still pending, still need more work on your back history. The style is fun to read, the character looks great, but we need more. This simply is not enough, work at it again. Small note, Dwelves have a massive child mortality rate, so a family that size is utterly unheard of. Just something to factor in, you can keep the large family.

Like Mutat3dBread above, it just needs more work. In this case the story is fine but we would like to see the rp examples worked out a bit better and more in depth. It's really the turning point for the app in this case. Ah, also notable is the age of the character, if you intend for him to teach other scouts he should probably be older. 28 is barely 19 compared to a human.

When I am dead, I hope it may be said: His sins were scarlet, but his books were read.
Enjoyable app, decent lore inclusion, lovely character that should be fun in the setting and who I imagine will find a home in this world quickly. Also you know the difference between its and it's, so I can't help but approve the app.
The story is relatively fine but does not read easily. If you expand upon it it might be more acceptable, but the magic app is definitely lackluster. There are separate schools for illusion and light (holy) for one. The understanding of the amount o power a beginner would have is fine, but the whole thing needs some effort.
We look forward to a new attempt however. We feel that you can manage the adjustments.

In general the application was very brief, but it had decent lore inclusion. There is nothing wrong with the story itself, but the magic application is lacking. We require quite a bit more to see that talent granted.

-Magic Biography; Explain the reason you want your character to have magic through backstory application: (At least three extremely well-crafted paragraphs. You must describe to us why your character can use magic, what drives him to further his ability, how he learned that he could use magic, and what benefits magic brings to this character, what type of magic they’ll strive to use, etc. This is not a middle school paper! I will not accept applications that say “My character got my magic from x, and he wants to use it because it’ll help him! Also for RP!")
Kato was born with the ability to use magic, but without any trinkets. charms, or artifacts to use, he didn't know. He had a quick wit, and was quick to learn, but he was very lazy.
If he had never been noticed by a local mage in Falkvard, he would never know that he had such a gift. He would have been a refugee his entire life, never daring to step outside the city, for fear of death.
However, let us not dwell on that. After the mage gifted him a weak trinket of ice to test his ability, he learned of his power, and he knew his fate. To become a powerful elemental mage.
Working in a tavern, just for the right to sleep in the stables, he used this trinket to keep the food cold, which saved the owner of the tavern a decent amount of money on salt, since he no longer needed it for the meat. The mage, saw that even though Kato was using his magic to serve the greedy business owner, the owner would treat him terribly, and not even offer him a room.
This angered him to an extent, but he had learned to control his rage long ago. So, he walked into the tavern, demanded to see Kato, and took Kato under his wing. The meat, no longer exposed to the trinket, spoiled without the tavern owner's knowledge.
Now, Kato uses his magic to offer services to the townspeople, even if they don't appreciate him much. Soon, Kato will leave Falkvard, on a quest to become a Vampire, to seek their agelessness, and further his ability over the centuries, until he is un-rivaled in power.
If he hurries, he may stay young forever.
-Please give an example in your own words describing the limitations placed upon those who use magic (This should be at least one well-crafted paragraph):
Magic has a physical, and mental strain, making it so that unless you are a master of magic, using it in a fight will get you killed. For instance, if you used a strong trinket of fire to attack a Vampire, you may use too much power, causing the trinket to shatter or even explode, and then even if you don't cause it to break, you need to be very skilled, or else you will be too fatigued to defend yourself further.
-Please give a description of the magic system in your own words:
Magic is a powerful tool, accessible only by the few born with the ability to channel it through artifacts, trinkets, and charms. This tool has many different uses, and schools. You could use magic with a Ring of fire, and use it to melt weak metal, and burn wood, or you could use a charm of trickery, and have someone else believe that you did them a service, so that they pay you for a service you haven't done.
-You are given a weak trinket of swiftness, you haven't had much practice with magic yet, but you will try your best. Describe some things you could/would do with this trinket:
I would use this trinket to retrieve items, deliver messages, or jump ravines. However if the ravine is too wide, or the person expecting a message is too far, I could end up destroying the trinket, and if it explodes, it could harm me and possibly others.

-Character description (At least one to two paragraphs describing your character’s visual appearance.): Ruby is a rather pale and scrawny kid, this is due to his lack of food when he was younger. However do to his recent job as a stable boy he has bulked up a bit better. He has red shaggy hair, never really having time to comb or take care of it. Under his luscious locks are his shining blue eyes (No matter how bagged they are from taking night watches so his sister can sleep), his sister seems to have taken everything from him, good looks included. He normally wears a white tunic (Embroidered and stolen from his father) and a black cloak over that, his trousers are a dark black and the brown leather boots he wears go up a little past his knees. His braces he stole from a blacksmith a little while ago and he rather enjoys them as they make him seem a bit more tough. He carries around a small bag with his belongings in it, made of leather and rather stuffed to the brim with keepsakes.Under his cloak right above his tailbone he keeps a knife, just incase his sister and him run into any issues on the road. He is normally covered in a thin layer of dust, being on the road is not as easy as it looks.
-Character personality and traits (At least one to two paragraphs describing their personality traits and/or quirks.): Ruby above all is protective of his sister, he will always put her safety above all else and care for her even if it means his death. He is a lot more alert than her, always watching her back as her airheadedness seems to get her in trouble sometimes and he normally has to bail the two out. He seems to be quick to judge if people are acting strange or he even starts to assume things about them just by looks. He has this hotwired into his brain from how his parents treated him. This also in turn makes him trust people a lot slower then normal, always worried they might stab his (or even worse his sister's) back. If people can catch him alone with his sister he is very relaxed, at peace even as he might be writing in his book or playing a game with her.
-Character biography (At least three paragraphs describing your character's history and experiences): Ruby “It’s-A-Guy’s-Name-Too-I-Swear” Amalight was born nine years before his sister, Opal. They were born in a Northern city of Man by the Coin Mistress and Head Architect of the city, Leyna Jones-Amalight and Sir Jasper Amalight.
As the Amalights would soon let you know (very clearly) is that they were a respectable family. They normally were seen parading the kids around like a ‘real’ family but when they got home they were thrust into their nanny’s (Ala’s) care. When guests would come over they would bring them out again, telling them to be “respectable children.”
There Nanny Ala cared deeply for the children. She often was swiping food for little four-year-old Opal, who was half starved by her mother saying that a princess can’t be fat!
But it was a risky game, and Nanny Ala was caught giving Opal a cinnamon roll at one of the Amalight’s parties by Leyna when Ruby was twelve. She was furious and brought them to her bedroom, where she ripped the treat away from Opal and fired Nanny Ala.
Opal was sent to sleep in Ruby’s room that night, where she told him what happened. Ruby, angry, snuck out through the window that night and into the streets. He wanted to go talk to Ala about what to do, he knew she was staying at her parent’s house, who said that they could come over anytime.
But he didn’t get to go talk to her, since just as he was opening the door a guard-- mistaking him for a thief --saw him and grabbed him. He saw that it was Ruby (he saw that it was one of Jasper and Leyna’s kids) and decided that instead of arresting him he would simply escort him home.
Ruby couldn’t tell if the looks on his parents faces were disgust, anger, humiliation or all of the above. Jasper mumbled a “thank you” to the guard as Leyna pulled him inside.
“Rat,” “Filth,” “Scum,” and “Trash” were just a few of the names that were thrown at him, while also “how do you think this makes us look!?” and “our reputation may never recover!” were also in the mix when Jasper threw the first few punches.
Ruby may have been even more furious than his parents when they threw him in his room, next to a startled Opal who started crying at the sight of him. Ruby quickly hushed her up before their parents heard, and then picked her up and crawled through the window once more with her.
He ran to Ala’s parents’ house with Opal and, although it was 3 a.m. and they were tired, they were just awake enough to hear Ruby’s story, and immediately decided to help.
Ala sent a courier to a friend down South the next morning while hiding the kids in the cellar.
Days later the response came back, and Ruby set off with Opal to go work at a stable down South. He worked there for nine years, until he was twenty-one, before setting off again. He wanted a new start with Opal, so they started travelling for the next three years, until they arrived in Barkamsted.

Ruby would let out a yelp, looking behind him and patting down his belt. He would frown and run after the kid, taking long strides as he tries and….maybe catches the kid. If he were to catch the kid, he would try to tell him to give the money back, almost begging. If he lost the money he would be worried about what his sister will think and feel guilty. If his sister does not care (Which she most likely won't) he will just feel bad he lost the money and soon move on with his life.
You’re heading back to the city through the woods when you hear a whining coming from nearby. Don't worry, along with that the character is also a master scholar and Doctor.
-Define Meta-gaming in your own words: Taking information you learned OOC and applying it to your IC knowledge.
Example:

Tonight at 7
Blah is about to kill Bleh when Person A comes in and kills Blah.

-Character description (At least one to two paragraphs describing your character’s visual appearance.): Opal is 5’4” with an average weight. She has straight red hair, pale skin and icy blue eyes that are usually gazing into nothing in a deep daydream. She has an oval face and soft features, with slightly downturned eyes. She's more of a meso-endomorph and wears a pale blue dress with lacy sleeves and grey boots that seem a bit out of place, as well as a purple flower crown.
-Character personality and traits (At least one to two paragraphs describing their personality traits and/or quirks.): Wispy, airy, has a sort of head-in-the-clouds air to her. She's often found zoned out, or pacing around talking to herself. She likes stories, but neither likes to read them or tell them, she rather detests the idea.
She seems to quite literally have no care in the world, she's too busy ignoring it. She is quite kind to everyone, and does not understand people who are mean and don't get along. Insults practically bounce off her. She's more of an introvert, but does appreciate company. She doesn't fear large crowds but rather finds them boring, as she's often ignored for not speaking too much. What's the point of talking if you don't have anything meaningful to say?
-Character biography (At least three paragraphs describing your character's history and experiences): Opal Amalight was born nine years after her brother, Ruby (they wanted a girl). They lived in a Northern City of Man where her father Sir Jasper Auru Amalight was the head architect of the city and her mother Leyna Elle Jones-Amalight was the Coin Mistress.
The Amalights were respectable people, and after they had their children they used them to prove that fact, parading around their beautiful and well-behaved children so all could see how much of a loving family they were.
That is until they went home.
Once no one was around to watch, Jasper and Leyna had no use for the kids anymore. So off to their rooms or into the arms of their Nanny Ala they went.
The neighbors were completely oblivious to all that was going on at home. They just saw the smiling faces of two seemingly well-mannered children and not how Leyna would withhold food from her four year old daughter, saying “a princess is never large,” in response to Nanny Ala’s quiet protests.
Well Nanny Ala cared for Ruby and Opal, much more than their parents did. She often was swiping small treats like apples and bread slices off the table to deliver to little Opal, who was oblivious to all except the fact the she was hungry.
Sadly, though, Nanny Ala had been caught in the act by Leyna of giving the child a cinnamon roll at a small party in which they invited the Lord of the land. Furious, she dragged both Opal and Nanny Ala into her bed chambers and snatched the treat from Opal, who loudly burst into tears.
“Shut her up!” Cried Leyna to Nanny Ala, in fear some of her guests would hear her. Nanny Ala ushered the girl into her arms and soothed her. Once she was quiet Opal was sent to Ruby’s room, and Ala was sacked.
Opal slept in Ruby’s room that night, and Ruby, who had heard what had happened from Opal felt he wanted out of there at once. At night he alone crept through the window and ran all the way to Ala’s parents’ house, where she was staying.
He was just planning a visit, to talk about what to do. He was going to let himself in quietly, as not to be noticed and since he knew Ala’s parents and they’d said he’d be allowed over anytime.
Technically the middle of the night counted as “any time.”
But he didn’t get as far as to talk to Ala, since a guard noticed him opening the door. The guard thought he was thieving, but immediately recognized him as the son of Leyna and Jasper Amalight. She brought Ruby back to his parents and explained what happened. Humiliated, Mr. and Mrs. Amalight thanked the guard and pulled Ruby inside.
“Thieving filth!”
“How dare you try and run away!?”
“Do you have any idea how this makes us appear!?”
“My son! Breaking into a house like a rat on the street!”
They were furious.
Ruby was not let out of the house until the bruises healed.
They couldn’t live like this, Ruby decided. A few nights later, once again he escaped into the night, and this time got into Ala’s parents’ house. This time with Opal.
They were a bit confused as to why they were being woken up at 3 a.m. but immediately decided to help after Ruby explained everything. Ala contacted a friend down south and sent Ruby and Opal to his farm, where Ruby was to work as a stable boy there until he had enough money to leave, with a fresh start.
And that’s what he did. He was at that farm for nine years, until he was twenty-one, when he set out travelling with Opal for the next three years. Until of course they reached Barkamsted.
Opal blinks as she feels her purse being lifted, and turns to see the child running away. “That's unfortunate,” she says to herself as she go back to walking calmly just as she was moments before. Not noticing or not caring about the amount of gold she just lost.
You’re heading back to the city through the woods when you hear a whining coming from nearby. Upon further investigation you come across a grey-coloured wolf that appears to have its leg caught in a bear trap. Around it is three smaller lumps of fur, obviously puppies belonging to the trapped mother. Without help, they’ll all die, but wolf skins are quite valuable too, not to mention that the nearby farms suffer quite a bit from the wolf population.
Opal snaps out of a daydream upon encountering the strange sight. She calmly walks nearer, the thought of farms and wolf pelts does not come close to entering her mind as she sits down near the family. As the wolf mother looks at her cautiously she offers it a piece of stale bread she's had in her purse for too long (why throw out perfectly good bread she thought the ducks might like it) and then gently pets the mother’s neck, ignoring the danger of a bite. After a few minutes she gently pulls the trap apart to free the mother, who quickly scampers away with her pups. Opal simply gets up and goes to walk back to town. “An interesting day isn't it?” She says aloud to No One around her as she walks “I should tell Ruby, he'd find it interesting too I bet. Maybe.”

I used to be in involved in percy jackson roleplay servers
-Define Power-gaming in your own words:
I must be a noob to rp because I’ve never heard of this term before until now. From what I’ve heard Power-gaming is basically the act of initiating a scene without sharing control with the other people in the scene. For example say Phil takes a sword and points it at Coulson. Phil can cut Coulson’s throat but at the same time Coulson has a chance to react and stop it. Making this situation a non power-gaming event, but if Phil took out a gun out of nowhere and just shot Coulson without giving him a chance. That is Power-gaming
-Define Meta-gaming in your own words:
I also did not ever hear about this term but I believe that it is the act of using information gained on a character or game, and using it to your advantage. Like for example let’s say Phil is a wanted criminal, and Coulson is a bounty hunter. Phil sees Coulson and Shoots him in the head <power-gaming>. How could Phil kill Coulson without knowing he was a bounty hunter? Well Phil was told about a bounty hunters ign and recognised it as Coulson came in. Phil used information that wasn’t part of the rp to his advantage.
-Define Role-Playing in your own words:
Role-playing I believe is the act of playing a role in a performance. Kinda like acting only you create the character and feel them out and find out who they are as you go along.

-Character Occupation (optional, note you still must talk to the lord about loaning or purchasing any stall/shop for your character if he/she would have one. This more or less helps us to better understand your characters starting skill set): He is skilled in Hunting and Farming
-Character description (At least one to two paragraphs describing your character’s visual appearance.):
Dez Maro is a 5 ‘ 8 young man. Has black flowing hair that barely covers his eyes. He is tan from working outside all day. He wears a dark blue hood with a yellow trim and under it a white shirt. Around his neck is a necklace with a ruby carved into the shape of a fae.
-Character personality and traits (At least one to two paragraphs describing their personality traits and/or quirks.):
Dez is a friendly down to earth and honorable man but at times he is very distant from everyone around him. He doesn’t talk much but when people do talk to him he is very kind and friendly. He doesn’t sing and play the lute often but when he does it brings happiness into the air. He values life and the life of others. When people watch him hunting he asks the creature for forgiveness and thanks the creature for it’s sacrifice.
-Character biography (At least three paragraphs describing your character's history and experiences):
The Maro family was one of few noble figures. A family that lead generations of heroes and heroines. They were there when the Pact started their conquest upon the elves, dwarves and humans. They were there when the Alliance was first formed. They were there when the humans and dwarves engineered the first cannon prototypes. One of the most infamous of the Maro family was Lord Tou Moro. Tou Moro was part of the group of soldiers that ventured into the gates of hell to destroy the obelisk that threatened these lands. Thanks to the noble deeds of Aster he was able to return home to his wife Nev. Tou Moro then retired to settle down and become a farmer so that he can start a family.
As time grew on Tou and Nev struggled to have a child. They were beginning to think that they grew infertile. But their hopes were restored as Nev became pregnant with two children. Born to be twins Talia and Dez were born. Talia had lots of energy and often played swordfight with her father when he wasn’t working the fields. Dez would watch Talia run around and have fun but for some reason he didn’t have the energy that Talia was given. He was often sick in which his mother would take care of him. Dez didn’t let the fact that he was always ill let him down. He smiled every day knowing that tomorrow he will still be alive and well. When Talia and Dez were 8 they would sneak out of the farm and explore the forest. Dez would watch in amazement as Talia took her bow and arrow to kill a bunny. The two brought it home so that their mother can make rabbit stew. Dez took his mother's lute and played music as his mother cooked dinner. Talia always loved Dez’s music and she would dance to it all the time. Watching the two their father smiled as the two twins played in the living room.
Although the realm was at peace, dangers still lurked in the shadows. Wolves have been reported in the area where the Moro family lived in. Talia and Dez would often hear strange noises outside and howling on every full moon. One night Tou gave Talia his bow and arrows and he took his sword to protect the livestock. Dez would get scared every time his father left the house, he was afraid that the wolves would eat him. His mother and sister gave Dez some comfort telling him that everything will be fine. After 3 hours Dez’s father came home. He’s slain one of the wolves and scared the rest off. Tou Moro was bitten badly so his wife told the twins to go to sleep while she nursed Tou back to health. But ever since that night Tou hasn’t been the same. He would always be itchy, have a hunger for meat, and stare off at the night sky. Dez thought something was wrong but Talia told him that their father is fine and everything will be alright.
But nothing was alright for Dez grew very ill and became very weak. He wasn’t able to get out of bed and he would cough up blood, he was dying. As he laid on the bed a fae appeared to him. Dez told her he was dying buy his parents wished he would stay alive. The fae saw something in the boy and eventually agreed to grant the Maro family wish. The fae hovered close to Dez’s side and took out a necklace with a ruby crystal carved into the shape of a fae. The moment she put it on Dez regained his strength. The fae told the family that the necklace will keep him alive but if he is ever gets separated from it he will die.
The family thanked the fae and she flew off. Talia and Nev were so grateful that they cried onto Dez’s lap. Tou watched the family and he fell to the ground. In shock Nev turned around to see what was wrong with her husband. When she reached to see what was wrong Tou turned into a werewolf and bit her throat. Surprised, Talia reached for her father's bow and arrows and stood in front of Dez to protect him. Tou howled and charged at his children. Talia was able to get a couple arrows into her father but his pelt was too thick to do any damage. Her father got close enough to grab Talia by the feet and consume her body. “No!” Dez screamed in horror. Gasping for breathe Tou opened his mouth and Talia’s head rolled onto the bedroom floor next to their mother's corpse. Tou charged at Dez to kill him but at the final moment Dez’s ruby crystal glowed a bright crimson aura. Dez screamed as he got blinded by the bright aura coming from his necklace. When the blindness wore off and the necklace stopped glowing Dez’s father turned to ash.
As Dez sat on his bed taking in on what just happened the fae flew into his room through the window. The fae realised what has happened and tried to comfort the boy. Dez was angered at the fae, so he took off his necklace and through it towards the fae’s direction. The fae caught it as it flew through the air. She told him that it would be selfish of him to throw away his life. The life that his parents gave him. The life that his sister tried so hard to protect. She understood that Dez was in pain. She felt it as she put the necklace around the his neck. The fae took the boy and brought him to an honorable family of hunters. The family agreed to raise the child as if he was their own flesh and blood. Before the fae left she told the boy to never let his life go to waste. For the Maro family blood line lives on in you. The fae turned and flew away.
Many moons have past and Dez is now 18 years old. His new family taught him the ways of hunting. He still wears the ruby crystal carved into the shape of a fae. Not a day goes by where he doesn’t miss the family he lost. But for him the time for mourning is over. For him the time for rebuilding his family's name is now.

Answer: I’ve been robbed I chase after the child who is younger and faster than I am. But being a hunter I can track anything down. The Chase has become a hunt. I eventually follow the child to a corridor. I then pick him up by the shirt and grab my wallet back.
You’re heading back to the city through the woods when you hear a whining coming from nearby. Answer: I would let the wolf go and hunt it later. Mostly because I wouldn’t kill a mother of any kind. Unless they tried to kill me. But I would most definitely let the wolf go raise her children until they could live on their own. Then I would hunt that old wolf and kill her.
Extra notes (Optional, could include theme songs, pictures, etc.):
-Magic Biography; Explain the reason you want your character to have magic through backstory application: (At least three extremely well-crafted paragraphs. You must describe to us why your character can use magic, what drives him to further his ability, how he learned that he could use magic, and what benefits magic brings to this character, what type of magic they’ll strive to use, etc. This is not a middle school paper! I will not accept applications that say “My character got my magic from x, and he wants to use it because it’ll help him! Also for RP!")
Faery magic is very powerful and often come with side effects. For example every time a fae grants a wish something else even more unwanted happens. In Dez’s story the parent’s wished to save their son. In return Tou Moro’s process of a turning into a werewolf grew faster, in which he killed Dez’s entire family. Dez’s necklace saved him before his father was able to kill him as it turned Tou Moro into ash. Now how exactly did the necklace turn his father into ash. Well the gem is laced or enchanted with Faery magic. Because Dez Moro’s life is tied to the gem, his life has been laced with Faery magic.
Faery magic can be of any element and can be either tied in with dark or holy magic. Looking at how the necklace was given to Dez to save him, and how the necklace turned the werewolf to ash, one can only assume that the magic that is tied with the necklace is holy. Because werewolves are a creature of darkness and evil the gem resists that. Even though the gem is imbued with holy magic it is still possible that the magic can become dark or evil. For example if Dez turns into a werewolf or becomes a vampire then the crystal tied to him corresponds with him and becomes dark.
Although the necklace comes with Faery abilities it does not make Dez a faery. He cannot grant wishes unless he does an action that changes the course of history. He can though do some tricks that faeries do such as wake up plants as the seasons change. Faery magic gets enhanced when used through a trinket. Like a wand makes it easier to cast a spell. But one problem that Dez faces every day is that since he’s gain the magical abilities of a faery he also gains their weaknesses. Dez can’t wield iron swords or any item that is iron because iron burns faeries if he touches iron he will get burned. He also can also only be healed through magic or by his natural immune system because faeries have a weakness to charms and herbs. They will poison Dez instead of help him.
To round things up Dez can use magic because it is a side effect that comes with the necklace. He can tap into the power of the faery necklace for it is tied in with his life. Dez has become part human and part fae given the ability to use any element of magic but specializes in holy magic. If he becomes evil and then the gem will cooperate with him and become a wielder of dark magic. Although he gained most of the faery abilities he has a weakness to anything iron and gets poisoned by herbs or charms. Faery magic is a powerful magic but because of Dez was not born to magic as the faeries are, he will have to be taught how magic works.
-Please give an example in your own words describing the limitations placed upon those who use magic (This should be at least one well-crafted paragraph):
The limitations of Dez’s magic is that he can’t use dark magic unless he becomes corrupted by dark magic. Such as turning into a werewolf or vampire. If the gem becomes dark and corrupted he can’t use holy magic unless he turns back to pure human. Other than that he can learn to control other elements of magic
Because he can’t hunt with iron swords or iron armor he can only wear leather clothing or gold or diamond. But anything iron burns him. If you use iron swords to fight him he will get damaged twice as much. If you use charms on him or herbs he will get poisoned because faeries get poisoned by it.
-Please give a description of the magic system in your own words:
Magic is the force of life, it is in all of us and it is in all living things. Items can get magic by becoming enchanted. When an item is used it taps into our magic supply called our mana. Mana is used every time we use our magic abilities. We can also restore our mana by collecting the life force around us and we can strengthen our mana by training.
-You are given a weak trinket of Light <holy>, you haven't had much practice with magic yet, but you will try your best. Describe some things you could/would do with this trinket:
During one of the hunting trips our rookie was stung by a poisonous scorpion. I would use the holy magic to cleanse the wound and remove the poison.
You start with one aspect only. You gain the rest of them (How ever many your race may have) of your own choice through further RP, however you will not be able to attain them immediately.
Considering how your apps are both related as siblings growing up and aren't all too much different apposed from perspective and such I'm going to reply to them in tandem, So the first thing I'd like to note is that you're Accepted and I want you to have a good time on the server, It'll be nice to RP with you if you ever catch me!

-Please give us a short RP response to these two scenarios. :
Youre walking around the markets at around noon. Theres a lot of people around you, still gathering their items as they prepare to shut down their many stands. Suddenly you feel a gentle lifting of your coin purse as a child graces you and soon after they take off sprinting. You have been robbed.
I turn my head towards the child, almost running after them, before remembering that the only thing in the pouch is gravel, placed there so that the others didn't think ill of me for being poor. If only I had something in there worth chasing after...
Youre heading back to the city through the woods when you hear a whining coming from nearby.
_______________________________________________________________________

Pending

Accepted
Enjoyable app, decent lore inclusion, lovely character that should be fun in the setting and who I imagine will find a home in this world quickly. Also you know the difference between its and it's, so I can't help but approve the app.

Everything needs work. The concepts of the history are relatively fine but it needs fleshing out, and the rp examples need to be much expanded.
Denied
The story is relatively fine but does not read easily. If you expand upon it it might be more acceptable, but the magic app is definitely lackluster. There are separate schools for illusion and light (holy) for one. The understanding of the amount o power a beginner would have is fine, but the whole thing needs some effort.
We look forward to a new attempt however. We feel that you can manage the adjustments.
Accepted but your magic application is Denied
In general the application was very brief, but it had decent lore inclusion. There is nothing wrong with the story itself, but the magic application is lacking. We require quite a bit more to see that talent granted.

This application is a mess. Format it properly and send it again please.

-Character age: 24
-Character Occupation (optional, note you still must talk to the lord about loaning or purchasing any stall/shop for your character if he/she would have one. This more or less helps us to better understand your characters starting skills): Worked at a stables for nine years, now currently a traveller.
-Please give us a short RP response to these two scenarios. (At least one paragraph for each)
You’re walking around the markets at around noon. There’s a lot of people around you, still gathering their items as they prepare to shut down their many stands. Suddenly you feel a gentle lifting of your coin purse as a child graces you and soon after they take off sprinting. You have been robbed:
Ruby would let out a yelp, looking behind him and patting down his belt. He would frown and run after the kid, taking long strides as he tries and….maybe catches the kid. If he were to catch the kid, he would try to tell him to give the money back, almost begging. If he lost the money he would be worried about what his sister will think and feel guilty. If his sister does not care (Which she most likely won't) he will just feel bad he lost the money and soon move on with his life.
You’re heading back to the city through the woods when you hear a whining coming from nearby. Upon further investigation you come across a grey-coloured wolf that appears to have its leg caught in a bear trap. Around it is three smaller lumps of fur, obviously puppies belonging to the trapped mother. Without help, they’ll all die, but wolf skins are quite valuable too, not to mention that the nearby farms suffer quite a bit from the wolf population: Ruby would bite his lip, trying to think of a way everyone wins. Eventually his moral side would take over and let the mother free. Standing up he yawns rather gently and smiles as the mom is returned to her pups, nodding as his work here is done. Who needs a coat when lives are on the line?

-Define Power-gaming in your own words: Powergaming, in the simplest definition is making your character incredibly overpowered. Like in a fight and somehow they are masters of all martial arts known to man, incredibly strong and unusually fast. Or look, someone's injured! Don't worry, along with that the character is also a master scholar and Doctor.
-Define Meta-gaming in your own words: Taking information you learned OOC and applying it to your IC knowledge.
Example:
Person A logs into Skype.
Person B: hey did you hear that Blah is gonna kill Bleh behind the tavern at approximately 7 o’clock tonight?
Person A: no! That is terrible! My character loves Bleh!
Tonight at 7
Blah is about to kill Bleh when Person A comes in and kills Blah.
Person B: uhhhh...
-Define Role-Playing in your own words: Role-playing is like socially acceptable (eh) playing pretend. You create a character and you act and interact with others as if you were that character, developing relations and stories as that character.

-Character name: Opal Amalight
-Character race: Human

-Character age: 15
-Character Occupation (optional, note you still must talk to the lord about loaning or purchasing any stall/shop for your character if he/she would have one. This more or less helps us to better understand your characters starting skill set): Uh… she's unemployed all her life. But she can play the flute!
-Please give us a short RP response to these two scenarios. (At least one paragraph for each):

Maybe.”

Answer: I would let the wolf go and hunt it later. Mostly because I wouldn’t kill a mother of any kind. Unless they tried to kill me. But I would most definitely let the wolf go raise her children until they could live on their own. Then I would hunt that old wolf and kill her.

I think I should start with Light magic.
Enjoy your time and hope you stay with us for a long period of time!
