There are a few things about your application that I'd like to see clarified. First, Vikings don't exist within the world of Saphriel, neither as a peoples nor as a profession. Scandinavian influence definitely can be found, there are a couple of longships and a few builds that resemble it, but there aren't any civilisations that could be described as approximating Vikings. Piracy also exists on the server but to a slightly different extent than raiding monasteries.
Second, we'd like to see a lot more about the character's connection to the world. To this end, I would suggest reading through our lore page!
There, you will be able to find an introduction into the world of Saphriel and be able to shape your character around it. In your application you should make reference to the current events of the world so that we can see that you understand what universe you are throwing yourself into.
Finally, if we can have more detail in every aspect of the character to get to know them better that would be awesome.
Please do not take this decision as final. You are more than welcome to reapply with these changes in mind and I would love to see a new application from you! If you have any questions at all please feel free to reach out to us!

Character name: Xenos Dralvin
Race: Half-Demon
Age:22
Gender: Male
Character Description:
(At least one to two paragraphs describing your character’s physical appearance, including height, eye color, and skin tone.)
Xenos has pupil-less eyes, or which is more widely known as demonic eyes. He also has fangs due to him being a half-demon. He is fair in skin color. He is quite tall and wears a cloak over his head. He wears red and black clothes with small needles popping out of them. He also has wings, to conceal which, he wears a cloak.
Character Occupation: Mage, Hunter, Explorer
(For us to understand your characters starting skill set, your character still will need to contact the Kingdom to purchase any property)
Character Personality/Traits:
Xenos is a loner type of person. He refrains from trusting anyone and prefers staying alone most of the time. He feels no remorse in killing people who he thinks deserves it. Xenos is very sarcastic as well, and kills all people who he thinks deserve to die. Xenos is anti-social and is very difficult to make friends with. Though it will take him a while to trust someone, once he trusts them, he will trust them blindly. He also loves music, as music makes him feel emotions. He appreciates great music and may even tolerate the company of someone else if it's a musician.
Character Biography:
Xenos was born to a couple who had been on the side of the guild during the opening of the demon gates. They fought and fought, but eventually, the mother was possessed, This resulted in their child, Xenos, being half-demon. He was often ridiculed by the other humans and teased bacause of his wings. He quickly learned that if he wants to even pass of as human, he will need to hide his wings. He took a dress from his mother's wardrobe, and cut it to make a cloak. He started wearing this cloak all the time, but people who knew him from earlier still teased him.
He learned that if you can't be friends with anybody, make sure they are scared of you. When he was 13 years old, and being bullied by some humans of his age, he took off his cloak and tried to glide with his wings. He had never tried gliding with his wings, but he still did it perfectly. It was as if the demon inside him was rising. He then proceeded to beat up the bullies. He was taken to a court with that, and the charges of beating 3 children were thrown upon him, but he did not reply nor did he do anything. He simply looked at the judge, smiled, and slowly moved his head. This scared the judge into leaving him alone.
Ever since that incident, Xenos has been alone. His mother and father, who hated that they had a demon child, left him alone in Barkamsted, where he spent the rest of his childhood either begging, or scaring people into giving him monay and food. He deeply hates his mother and father for leaving him and aims to kill them if possible. He hates other people in general, and avoids interactions unless absolutely necessary. He then started living on the streets in Barkamsted, until he was picked up by a mage, who took pity on him, and took care of him. The mage also taught him about everything that has happened in this world, including how magic works, and that you need trinkets to perform it. From there on, he lived with the mage until the day came when the mage died. He died while fighting someone, this Xenos knew, but who he was fighting was something out of his knowledge. He knew the person has to be powerful to defeat the mage, and he plans to be so powerful that he can kill him or her. He plans to go the the Mages college to gain more knowledge of magic, as the mage always said that to master magic, he would have to go to the college, and then join The Explorers and Hunters.
Other/Extra: (Images, notes, etc.) I hope you liked my backstory!Sorry if it wasn't too long. I also plan on applying for a lore writer.
--Scenarios—
Please give us a roleplay response to both of these scenarios, at least one paragraph each:
A small riot breaks out in Barkamsted between Humans and Pact races. They're quickly gaining the attention of the guards as the situation escalates. Your character is somehow swept up into the crowd as the situation grows more dangerous, what do they do?
Xenos does not care about anyone but himself, but he hates people who are bad. He calmly tells both the humans and the Pacts to get away. He shows his wings to them, scaring them into possible going away. If it des not happen, he calmly tells both the humans and the Pacts that if they harm an innocent person, he will kill them. If they do, he uses his dark magic to kill them.
For whatever reason, your character finds themselves in an ancient tomb, the walls thick with brambles and foliage. From up ahead, you spy what appears to be a shambling mound of something. It pauses, quivers and moans. What do they do?

--Magic Application--
(Optional, this form must be filled out if you want your character to have magic at all.)
Magic Biography:
Xenos was born a half-demon, thus he has the ability to perform middle type dark magic without a trinket. He is similar to the darkness as he has always been ridiculed, and darkness is considered bad too. Thus, he feels some sort of connection to Dark magic. He knows how to cast a basic dark magic spell, but he is not satisfied with that. He wants to be so powerful that he could kill anyone if he wanted. He plans on finding trinkets and learning magic to the extent that he can harm and defeat anyone. He eventually will, find more trinkets, learn even holy magic if he has to, and conquer anyone he wants to.
Please describe the magic system, including its limitations in your own words:
(Two Paragraphs, please mention how one would cast, the limitations to casting and specific races, and the consequences of overuse)
Some souls are born with the special powers of being able to cast arcane, but it cannot be used without trinkets, which were made in the ancient times. A mage mush have a trinket and his ability to perform magic depends on how powerful the trinket is and how experienced in their art the mage is.Each mage is born with 1 to 4 aspects. These aspects can be holy, dark, illusion, fire, water, air, earth, lightning, ice, alterations. Specific races have specific aspects that they will most likely get, and they would have to concentrate their magic through the trinket. Trinkets are catalysts that mages use to channel their arcane energy into magical effects. Trinkets range from weak to divine, divine being the most powerful.
Born with magic does not give the ability to cast spells. Mages are born with a small amount of mana pool or arcane energy. They must hone their arcane energy and increase their mana pool to be stronger. Magic requires concentration, so it may be difficult to cast in the heat of the battle. Casting more than one aspect at the same time also drains the caster. If overuse happens, it can result into conditions such as dizziness and seizures and headaches to even death.
Please describe how you would use a weak trinket with your characters first/only aspect:
(Try to be creative, while acknowledging its limitations and utility uses)
I would use my dark magic with the help of the trinket to appear invisible to other people while I am in a dark place.
-Please note that some aspects are set when a character is born, while others are up to practice. The number of aspects you have is limited by your character's race, but they may have less than the max should you so choose, but they will not be able to regain that lost aspect naturally-

(At least one to two paragraphs describing your character’s physical appearance, including height, eye color, and skin tone.)
Lucas has blonde hair, and wears black and red clothes. He has blue eyes as deep as the ocean, and his height is quite tall. He has fair skin. Overall, he is very attractive.
Character Occupation: Mage,hunter,explorer
(For us to understand your characters starting skill set, your character still will need to contact the Kingdom to purchase any property)
Character Personality/Traits:
Lucas is grandiose and is also quite confident in his skills. He also does not get angry very fast, but when he does get angry, he is very dangerous. He is a born leader and is pretty good at leading people. He helps people when he can, and he does not want romantic relationships, because he is convinced he will be heartbroken in the end. He is reliable and teases his friends a lot. He is quite seductive and uses his charm to his usefulness. Though he may look bright, there is a lot of pain and darkness underneath. He shows that he is okay, but he is not.
Character Biography:
(At least three paragraphs describing your character's history and experiences, you must reference server lore)
Lucas was born in Barkamsted to a single mother. His father had disappeared and there were no traces of him.His father's memories, though they were blurry, were of him being loving and kind. His mother was a bit of a angry lady, and she loved to gossip, but Lucas knew in his heart that she was a good person. He was quite handsome as a baby too, and many people came to take a look at him a lot. As he grew, he got more and more popular and received more and more attention. However, he remained humble. He made a lot of friends. His childhood was mostly spent playing and practicing his combat skills, and sometimes flirting with girls. He had another skill that greatly helped make him more charming. He was an awesome singer. This made girls feel even more attracted to him. But then, when he was 7, happened the Plague. It destroyed many, and it destroyed Lucas's life too. Lucas's mom was infected , and to save himself, Lucas had to stab his own mom with a sword. This scarred him greatly and changed him forever. There would not pass a day when he did not think of suicide.
Eventually, the pain and darkness grew to an extent where he could not control himself. He often just sat down somewhere and cried. Though as Barkamsted came to be normal again, he started living there with an adopted family. His new parents were quite good people, and cared about him a lot. He knew what trauma and pain he had been through, and that it still hurt him a lot. As time went on, and Lucas moved on, he returned to be that popular boy. Now, he was 16. There would be loads of girls flirting with him, but he was afraid that if he fell in love he will lose another loved one, so he resisted them. Of course, this only made the girls try harder.
Once, he got lost in Barkamsted, and forgot his way home. He ended up going near a area of Barkamsted he had never seen before. He stopped, seeing a mage practicing his magic. He was delighted at seeing it. He was amazed, and wanted to learn it too. He talked to the mage and the mage said that only few have the gift of magic. The mage tested him to see if he had magic in his blood, by handing him a dark trinket. A small hand made of darkness rose out of the ground, and he discovered he did have magic in his blood! Lucas had not been so overjoyed in a long time. He started coming down tot he mage's house to take lessons from him. He slowly, but surely learnt how magic worked. He was amazed and loved it.
As time went on, and Lucas grew up, he realized he had to do something to be stronger, to make sure that what happened to her mother would not happen again. So he decided to go on adventures. He first planned to go to Mage College, and then become a Hunter and Explorer.

Second post because I did not realize i need to be a player+ for being a half demon. Would be appreciated if you view it too for the time I become a player plus.
The human one, to be precise! A good app that fits with the lore of the server. That said, it should be noted that things such as power and attractiveness are relative in RP; Lucas will ultimately be starting out with little to his name, and will have to earn any reputation he gains among player characters.
The Fae returned for further games across the cities, with history seemingly coming to life as participants bore witness to events long past in Tenifae, Barkamsted and Thonduhm. While none can be sure if these were hints for the future, the games were cleared and all accounted for by their end.

--IC Information— Character name: Castien Cainhurst Race: Half-High Elf Age: 48 Gender: Male
Character Description:
Castien is quite a tall fellow, with a height of around 6'8". He has a leaner build, like most of his Elvish side, but he has a bit of bulk to him, more akin to his weightier human counterparts. His face is mostly Elven in nature, quite angular with softer features, much to his dismay. His skin is fair, with light freckles on his face and some (what he was told are) birth marks across his right shoulder and on the lower-left side of his torso. His short, mostly unkempt hair is a deeply dark brown, and contrasts his bright silver eyes.
Castien's choice of clothing is nothing spectacular, to him anyway. He wears a red jacket with shortened sleeves that stop around his wrists, with a simple black tunic underneath. Across his shoulders is a pelt made from a wolf, or some sort of forest creature, with a similar pelt draped around his waist. He wears a pair of black slacks/pants, and dons a pair of rough leather boots on his feet. Finally, on his hands is a pair of mismatched and beat-up leather gloves.
(Assuming it's okay, he also has just a regular backpack on him that he carries. Nothing special, just not sure if starting with one is okay or not.)
Character Occupation: None currently, but that could change down the line, should he desire.
Character Personality/Traits:
(At least one to two paragraphs describing their personality traits and/or quirks.)
Castien, at face value, is a rather outgoing individual. Although he is not particularly good at it, he at least trys to be sociable when he can, and will lend a hand when needed. Although, due to his upbringing, he is not too trusting when it comes to personal matters, and he harbors a small difficulty when it comes to trusting non half-breeds or beast races, but he does not resent them in any way. Although, once you get in, however, he is very trusting, and tends to "unfold" in a way. His loyalties lie within those who he trusts the most, and feels the strongest bonds with. Such is the nature of trust, this is sometimes to his detriment.
Castien wishes to make something of himself, and shed the weight that his Half-Elven blood puts on him, prove that he's more than what the circumstances of his birth gave him. He sympathizes with those who are different from the norm, namely beast races and half-breeds, anyone who goes through scrutiny for things they cannot change about themselves. On that same note, despite his usually collected demeanor, he is a bit sensitive on the topic of his race, tending to act impulsively or irrationally when his heritage or that of another is the butt of a joke or insult.
When it comes to fighting, Castien has always taken a defensive approach, being more of a lover than a fighter. He is not skilled whatsoever at fighting, but he is quite resilient, and has taken this approach when he gets into a scuffle. When push comes to shove, however, it remains to be seen if he could kill when it comes time to protect those he holds dear to him. As far as other traits go, he can tend to be a fairly physical person, opting for hugs, handshakes, etc. This is a trait he gets from his father, no doubt. In addition, Castien has mild claustrophobia, and a phobia of heights. He's a rather hearty eater, with a fondness for seafood. When he gets stressed, he likes to go to one of the taverns in the city, or to some nearby body of water for a spot of fishing or reading to relax.
Character Biography:
Faenelyn was young when she fled the walls of Silivrenmîr. Well, young for a High Elf, anyhow. The Pact War continued, raging westward were the Orcish hordes and swaths of Pact cultists, razing whatever signs of civilization they could find. In Year 41, the invading armies finally reached the ancient Elven City. It's plazas and markets gave way to barricades and forward camps, and it's floating palaces giving way to garrisons of soldiers. Of all the cities within Saphriel, the High Elven city fought back the fiercest. Though, in the end, it was too much, and the hordes of the Pact were too great in number. Rather than letting the city go in one piece, the retreating forces toppled the buildings and palaces atop their Orcish invaders, all while the non-combatants were led en masse from the city, heading westward to seek refuge, and young Faenelyn went with them.
In the walls of Barkamsted, she found safe haven. Her parents both casualties in the raging war of the Pact, she tried her best to make her way. Over the next several years, she would bounce between whatever jobs she could. She eventually found a use for her aspected Holy magic, working at hospitals and medical camps within the city, treating wounded soldiers. It was in these hospitals that she would find one Bartram Cainhurst, a human soldier horribly wounded in a battle with Pact cultists. She stayed by his side, and tended his wounds. In time, the two found love in one another, forbidden love, much to the dismay of their families. Once his injuries were healed, he was granted permission to stay within the walls of the city to guard the bastion of Barkamsted in case of invaders, but he truly stayed for Faenelyn. After two years, in Year 48, the couple had a son by the name of Castien.
Castien's upbringing was a little turbulent, you could say. The fault, of course, can't lie with his parents. His parents raised him as well as they could, but the city of Barkamsted can be cruel to those who are half-bred. He did not fit within either Human or High Elven culture, and was a mutt of the two. From a young age, Castien struggled with identity, with finding his place in the world. Although outgoing as a child, he didn't have many friends, or people he could closely confide in, so it was mostly in his parents that he saw refuge. When he was around 18, he discovered he had an aspect of magic. Both of his parents were aspected, his mother with Holy/Lightning, and his father with Fire/Illusion magic. While his Father was less adept with it, his mother was well versed in her magical abilities. Castien found himself aspected with Holy/Fire magic. As a result, he found himself a place working alongside his mother for some time, helping her in the hospitals healing soldiers. Although, help may be a bit of a strong word, as he would mainly handle very minor wounds, like scrapes or bruises, if he healed them at all. Most of his work was manual, carrying the wounded in and out of the hospitals, and handling supplies.
Castien was 23 when the Pact War ended, and his time spent in the war was straddling the line of poverty. His father and mother provided just enough for them. Just enough food, clothes that were just acceptable enough, etc, always worried that this might be the last time they would have a comfortable meal together. For some years after that, Saphriel continued falling into conflict. The Demon Gates, the Void Tears, the emergence of the Fae. The worst of all, though, was the Plague, and the curse that came with it. Year 81, Falkvard is being rebuilt, and populations are slowly beginning to move eastward again. The Cult, still quite active, sets off a chain of events that brings a deadly plague to Saphriel, spreading all across the continent. It swiftly made it's way to Barkamsted, rampaging through the city, not without the effort of the cities healers attempting to slow it. Castien's mother was completely immune to the plague, and as a result of being a half-breed, Castien was awfully resilient, but his father was not so lucky.
Despite her greatest attempts, Faenelyn could not remove the plague or curse from his body, and any attempts to use Holy magic would hurt him. He succumbed to his ailment, and had to be put down and burned to prevent the spread from zombification. Castien and Faenelyn were distraught, and the latter could not stand to stay in Barkamsted any longer. Faenelyn now only longed to leave the city where so many memories are home to, hoping that leaving Barkamsted would help with the loss of her beloved.
After the plague was over, Castien and his mother Faenelyn packed what belongings they could, and with the help of some of his late father's friends, moved eastward to Falkvard. Castien helped his mother establish a new life within the slowly rebuilding city, and worked whatever jobs he could as much as he could, hoping that work would keep his mind off the loss of his father. Over the years, more conflict came and went. The Aceadia War, the monstrous beasts of the Pine Forest, all of it brought such unnecessary death and tragedy. It's taken a toll on Castien, mentally, and physically. Still grieving the loss of his father, and full of regret, wishful of more time, Castien only desires peace. Peace for all of Saphriel's inhabitants. The people of the land, his mother, and peace for himself.

--Scenarios— A small riot breaks out in Barkamsted between Humans and Pact races. They're quickly gaining the attention of the guards as the situation escalates. Your character is somehow swept up into the crowd as the situation grows more dangerous, what do they do?
Castien can feel the tension rising in the air, it was almost palpable. It's the feeling you get when you know something bad is about to happen, that gut instinct. "Again? Really? That's twice this week." He thinks to himself, as he pushes through the crowd, making his way towards the heart of the matter. Castien doesn't know if he can stop the potential fight, but he knows that he'll regret it if he doesn't try. These kinds of things can get bloody quite fast. As he makes his way to the front of the crowd, two small groups of Humans and Orcs are throwing fists at one another, the scuffle already started. Not one to stray from trouble, Castien steps forward from the crowd towards the ensuing conflict. "Hey!" he shouts, "You're making quite the scene. Let's break it up and talk this out!" As he approaches, a blur of green meets his torso, as he is knocked on his back.
One of the Orcs gave him a swift knock to the ribs, and a hard one at that. Standing up, he coughs up a small bit of blood. Castien tightens the loose straps on his leather gloves and throws his hands up, getting into a loose defensive stance. "It's gonna take more than that to get rid of me, you know." As he wipes the blood from his mouth, the snarling Orc winds up for another hit, Castien stands firm, waiting the next impending blow. What he lacks in fighting ability, his resilience and determination makes up for it in spades. "Let's see how angry you are when you're tired."
For whatever reason, your character finds themselves in an ancient tomb, the walls thick with brambles and foliage. From up ahead, you spy what appears to be a shambling mound of something. It pauses, quivers and moans. What do they do?
Castien stands firm as the mound ahead of him begins to move, barely visible on the edge of the light from his torch. He does not yet know what it could be, but he most get through to find whatever it is the old man wanted him to. "Alright, come on then. Don't just shamble in place, come on with it!" He brings his free hand in front of him, ready to intercept what blow may come his way, as the creature begins to move closer. What he saw when it finally came into light horrified him, but steadfast he stood, ready to use his torch as a crude weapon if necessary.

Magic Biography:
(At least three paragraphs about your character's relationship to magic, and how they may discover their potential.)
Growing up, Castien was always around magic. His mother, a user of Holy magic primarily, but also aspected in Lightning magic, was always in and out of hospitals and the like. She was a healer for the city of Barkamstead, using her abilities to help the wounded fighting against the armies of the Pact during the war. His father was a practitioner of Fire and Illusion magic, but to a much lesser degree, mostly using his trinket of fire to light torches among other things.
He learned of his own ability to use magic at a young age, well, young for an Elf. At the age of 18, his mother left for the day to perform her healing duties in quite a rush, as another group of wounded had been brought in that morning. Young Castien saw that she had left in a hurry and forgotten her trinket on the table, a small pendant that she always wore around her neck. He grabbed it off the table and felt something surge through him he had never felt before. It was alien to him, for he'd never actually held a trinket before. The feeling wasn't a strong one, but it was noticeable. He ran out the door after Faenelyn, trying to catch up to her before she made her way there, when he found himself lying on the ground. He had tripped over a stone, or perhaps someone's foot. Looking at the scuffs and scrapes on his leg and knee, he thought back to the pendant he was holding, and that feeling came swelling back to him.
He held out the pendant above his wounds, and before he knew it, a couple of his smallest scrapes began to heal. Very slowly, and very roughly, they began to close. His eyes widened at the realization that he was feeling what it was like to use magic. The very prospect of it excited him, to where he forgot about his other scapes and bruises and raced after his mother again. Catching up with her, he told her the news, and she was ecstatic, hugging her son and bringing him along to the hospital. It was when they got to the hospital that Castien found himself in a bed of his own, for he had passed out after arriving, the excitement being the only thing keeping him awake on the way. Although it really shouldn't come as much of a surprise that being of High Elven ancestry he would be aspected at least somewhat, that excitement for magic has remained with him since.
Please describe the magic system, including its limitations in your own words:
(Two Paragraphs, please mention how one would cast, the limitations to casting and specific races, and the consequences of overuse)
Magic is currently known to be created and controlled by the god Bothimir. Those who are able to cast magic are born with the ability to do so, known as Bothimir's Gift, but cannot actually do so without two things. First is a line of sight, which is fairly self explanatory. Secondly, and most importantly, are trinkets. Trinkets themselves are artifacts that are themselves magical in nature, and are used like focuses in a way. Each trinket is tied to a particular aspect, so a Lightning trinket cannot be used to cast Earth magic. Speaking of aspects, each creature that is capable of casting magic has an aspect, with the number of aspects they have being determined from their race. High Elves are the most attuned to magic, and can have 4 aspects, whereas Dark-Elves can't have any aspects, and are actually incapable of using magic at all. Two to three aspects seem to be the most common among those who are capable of using magic.
Being aspected in certain things does not mean you cannot cast magic of other aspects, though. Any magic you are not aspected in can still be cast, but your use will be limited, for you can only cast it up to Medium level at the most. For example, Castien is aspected in Holy/Fire, but they can also cast magic from other aspects, like Lightning, granted only up to Medium level, and provided they have the correct trinket to cast it. In addition to being tied to aspects, trinkets also have power levels associated with them, from Weak to Divine level. If you try to cast medium level magic through a trinket of weaker power, the trinket will most likely be destroyed in the process.
Users themselves have to be careful not to cast beyond their limits as well, with the idea of "Overcasting". Overcasting is a mage pushing beyond their limits, or trying to cast when you have no magical reserves left, and is a technique that has dangerous consequences, only to be used as a last resort. In addition to magical limits, there are limits to what Aspects you can practice as well.
Please describe how you would use a weak trinket with your characters first/only aspect:
(Try to be creative, while acknowledging its limitations and utility uses)
(Castien is aspected in Holy/Fire magic, possibly a third aspect through practice, but I'm just using Fire for example.)
While the initial use for weak trinkets are limited, Castien saw great use out of his father's weak fire trinket while he was alive, mainly using it to light torches or start the fireplace in their home. He found that he could also slightly manipulate the flames of candles, flickering them or moving them slightly in certain directions, almost like a tiny "dance" in a way.
-Please note that some aspects are set when a character is born, while others are up to practice. The number of aspects you have is limited by your character's race, but they may have less than the max should you so choose, but they will not be able to regain that lost aspect naturally-
A nice, detailed app that demonstrates clear knowledge of the server's lore! Just as a note, it is near unheard of for characters to have less than their default amount of aspects; as a half-elf Castien would be able to go for one more aspect, though of course he would only have discovered Holy and Fire presently from his backstory.
Other than that you'll be whitelisted soon, and we look forward to seeing you on Saphriel!
Many in Barkamsted massed to protest the arrival of a large group of Ca'Liar visitors. Though they were dispersed and deaths avoided, it is clear the Ca'Liar attacks of the past have not been forgotten, especially by the city's war veterans or the Avalti whom they waged war with. None can say whether tensions will calm or rise as this anger is left unaddressed.

--IC Information—
Character name: Adrian
Race: Half-Elf (High-Elven)
Age: 16
Gender: Male
Character Description:
Adrian is still technically a child and has not reached his full height, so he is roughly 5'1". His physical features include deep gray eyes, pointed ears, dark brown hair, and very pale skin. He has a more thin and wiry frame, and not much in the way of muscles. He can always be seen wearing a dirty, long, black coat with a gray trim over a dark gray undershirt. To go with his coat, he wears faded jeans and black shoes.
Character Occupation: (Optional)
Apprentice Tanner(leatherworker)
Character Personality/Traits:
Adrian is a kind, yet secluded kid. He rarely ever gets angry. He’s more likely to just deal with whatever is hurting him unless somebody he trusts asks him to open up. He doesn’t talk much, even to the people he trusts, and due to his trust issues, that’s not many. It’s not like anything happened to make him have trouble trusting people, it just takes a lot more for him to trust a person. He has a hard time coming around to people. Not because of his trust issues, but because he doesn’t want to get too attached to people in fear of them leaving like so many other people in his life. He also has a strong resentment for all who turned to thievery.
Character Biography:
First 8 years: This child's father was human and his mother was a high-elf. Before his birth, the child's mother wanted to be the one to name the child, but the father asked for there to be a condition for which parent names the child. The mother thought of a one-sided way to win the naming rights. She said that it would depend on the shape of the child's ears. If they were pointed, she would name the child. Round ears and the father would name the child. His mother knew that it was a selfish plan, so later she intended for her husband to name the child regardless. The child was born with pointed ears, but due to his mother not wanting to feel guilt for the rest of her life, she let his father named him Adrian. They lived in a secluded cabin out in the woods a few miles away from Barkamsted. The cabin would serve as a place free of the plague and some conflicts, meaning that none of them would have any idea of the goings-on of the world. They all lived happily in the small cabin. Adrian never had any siblings, but he and his parents were happy nonetheless. When Adrian was having trouble sleeping on a particularly dry night, he started to smell burning wood. Scared, he went outside with his blanket in hand and his necklace that he never took off (a gift from his mother which is just a simple gem locket) to look at the house only to see half the house up in flames. Mortified, he couldn't move. He stood there, staring at his burning home. He watched for his parents, but they never came out. He sat there until his former home was nothing but ash and cinders. After the 8 years of his life in the cabin now up in smoke. He started to wander through the woods until he found a path and waited for somebody to come by. Only a day later, a human trader's caravan found him and picked him up. They dropped him off at the gates of Barkamsted to have the guards deal with him. He was now all alone in a strange city with nobody familiar to him, he became more secluded, not wanting to interact with people much.
New city: Now in a brand new place with nothing left besides whatever he had with him from when he walked out his front door for the very last time. Upon reaching the city gates, where the trader dropped him off, Adrian was still dealing with the shock from the previous night. The guards saw a little kid that was just scared and who wandered off alone. They thought his mother was looking for him somewhere. One guard, however, saw something much worse. This guard decided to take the boy in until he could figure out a more permanent solution. As the guard explained to Adrien what was happening, Adrian was still thinking about what he could have done, how an 8-year-old could have saved his parents. Adrian followed the guard to his home and he was told to make himself comfortable. Adrian sat in a chair at the dining room table, while the guard set up a temporary place for the kid to sleep and stay. After his room was completed, Adrian would sit in it all day, only coming out for meals and the use the bathroom. The guard who housed Adrian was curious as to what made the boy so sheltered and asked Adrian about what happened to make him not want to talk to anybody. Adrian told the guard what happened through tears, and the guard was shocked at what this child had to go through. Now that he knew what happened, the guard arranged for the child to stay in his home with him. However, he was denied and Adrian was sent to an orphanage to be raised and schooled properly.
Current position: After the rough childhood he had desperately trying to not run away from the orphanage and devolve to thievery. One day, Adrian was out in the market on an errand duty. As he was walking through the stalls, a burly man came up to him and asked him if he would be interested in an apprenticeship. He first asked what the apprenticeship was for. The man replied that it was to work at the Smith as a tanner. The man said that he could use a hand to prepare the leather for his wares. Adrian said yes. Adrian then ran back to the orphanage, without getting any of the stuff he was supposed to get. As soon as he walked in the door, one of the caretakers noticed that he did not have anything in the bag they gave him. After getting scolded Adrian explained that somebody asked him to be their apprentice. Adrian told them who asked him to be their apprentice and they sent him off to go bring back the smith. Adrian came back with the smith in his company and they sent them both off after Adrian collected his things. Excited to finally be out of the orphanage and with a job, no less. All he had to do now was find a place to stay for a while, to figure out his housing situation. With a new job and a place to stay (an alley near the smith), he started to take interest in books and reading. He would look for books to read when he wasn't out or didn't have work to do.
Other/Extra: Adrian likes to collect anything that looks interesting to him, as long as it’s legal to take.
--Scenarios—
Please give us a roleplay response to both of these scenarios, at least one paragraph each:
A small riot breaks out in Barkamsted between the Humans and Pact races. They're quickly gaining the attention of the guards as the situation escalates. Your character is somehow swept up into the crowd as the situation grows more dangerous, what do they do?
Response: I attempt to push past the crowd to get out of the danger zone, but my relatively small size makes me unable to keep going and I go with the crowd. I then try to find a gap in the crowd of people. I find one, but it closes before I can get to it. I hear shouting and screaming from not too far away. I only try more desperately to get away. I end up tripping and stumbling over people’s feet while still stuck in the jungle of people as I try to get further away. Finally, I start pushing my way through in a desperate struggle to get away from the conflict. I fall on my face twice in the process of getting out, but I end up out of the crowd. I run back to my alley to stay away from all the commotion.
For whatever reason, your character finds themselves in an ancient tomb, the walls thick with brambles and foliage. From up ahead, you spy what appears to be a shambling mound of something. It pauses, quivers and moans. What do they do?
Response: I break off a larger piece of bramble. I slowly approach the mound as quietly as I can. It turns towards me, I scream, throw the piece of bramble, and run as fast as I can through the halls. I almost slam into a particularly large bramble bush as I turn a corner. I stop to catch my breath and listen for footsteps or just sounds in general. I hear nothing and continue searching for my way out of the tomb.
--Magic Application--
(Optional, this form must be filled out if you want your character to have magic at all.)
Magic Biography:
Adrian has never been exposed to the inner workings of magic and therefore has no idea what a trinket is or how it works. He has always been a big fan of seeing large displays of magic at gatherings and festivals. After his parents passed away, he was left wanting to learn magic to bring them back, but he always thought he had no magic whatsoever. (To happen later on) On a bright, sunny day, Adrian walks into a shop to browse for interesting items for his collection. He spots a strange-looking amulet, walks over to it, and picks it up. Upon putting his finger on it to feel the texture, he feels a small shock go through his body starting from the same finger he used to touch the amulet. He calls over the shop owner and asks what the item is. "That there is a trinket. You never seen one before?" Adrian replies with a no and asks what they are used for. The shop owner explains what they can do and notices the type of trinket. "Looks like you have a lightning aspect." Upon hearing this, Adrian buys the trinket to take home to experiment with.
Please describe the magic system, including its limitations in your own words:
To cast magic, one must possess a trinket. An ancient item that allows a user to channel their mana pool. Without this item, a caster is essentially useless. While you need a trinket to use magic, you also need the right kind of trinket to match your innate aspect. Your mana pool always starts small but can grow through constant use and practice with your aspect. A fire mage cannot use a wind trinket and expect there to be a reaction. Trinkets also come in various tiers of power and rarity, ranging from weak to divine. The level of a trinket determines how much mana can be put through it. A weak fire trinket can only do enough to light a candle. Whereas a divine fire trinket could allow the user to perform extraordinary things.
The rules above apply to most races, however, different races can have different amounts of aspects and some are even exempt from some rules. For example, High-elves, being the most magically adept of the races can have, at most, 4 aspects, while Dark and Ash Elves are unable to possess any aspect at all. Ca’liars are only able to have a single aspect if they can even use magic. And Half-demons can cast dark magic up to medium level without the requirement of a trinket. Even if they do not possess the ability to use other aspects. Magic does not come without drawbacks. These drawbacks come in the form of overuse. Overuse can lead to dizziness or headaches to serious injuries or even death.
Please describe how you would use a weak trinket with your characters first/only aspect:
I would more than likely use it as a party trick-type deal. I would have a tiny electrical spark zip around my hand and spiral up my arm and then maybe float into the air and dissipate.
-Please note that some aspects are set when a character is born, while others are up to practice. The number of aspects you have is limited by your character's race, but they may have less than the max should you so choose, but they will not be able to regain that lost aspect naturally-
An excellent application, very close to being perfect! There are a few points of note I'd like to make though before we accept you!
- Half-Elves still have pointed ears, though they're not always as big as High-Elves. A small change in the backstory would make it easy enough to fix; have the ears be pointed but still human-sized to where they could pass at a glance.
- The age of adulthood in Saphriel is 23 for humans (and Half-Elves generally fall under human law). As such the orphanage wouldn't let Adrian leave at 16 unless adopted. The apprenticeship can be a good way for him to leave the orphanage though, he could become an apprentice immediately and leave the orphanage that way.
- Keep in mind that even if your character is an apprentice for an NPC they will still start with base skill level in leatherworking. Not a big deal, just something to remember. We highly encourage players to learn crafts from other player characters where possible.
If you have any questions please don't hesitate to ask. You've already been hitting up #general-inquiries on our Discord server and that's a great place to keep asking! Otherwise reply to this message when the application has been updated and I'll review it again. Cheers!
An excellent application! I will whitelist you now, but you will need to log in for the first time before we can give you your starting gear and starting funds. Once you've logged on that will be sorted.

Sio is of ashen complex and two coloured eyes, one ruby and another earthen. Hair long and kept tied up in a ponytail, dyed red at the tips, she doesn't speak of where she got the dye. Her height is of 6'0. A cocky expression worn at all times.
Character Occupation: (Optional)

A thief and a rogue, sailor and merchant, Sio is a jack of all trade, but master of one! That one being her gambler's luck and thief's touch. Sio takes work where she can get it, whether it be as a mercenary or a deckhand.
Character Personality/Traits:

One item that never leaves Sio's side is her lucky pair of obsidian dice, which she uses to make any and all decisions.
Swordplay is one of her various skills, and oh what fun it is.
Cooking is another skill Sio has picked up, usually looking extremely appetizing but is inedible through flavour.
Quick learner.
Arrogant, cocky, a trait bringing more trouble than it's worth, but Sio has made no attempt to change this.
Flirtatious is an understatement, as she prefers all genders to be under her enchanting thrall of charisma.

Sometimes passes and Sio meets (Blank) in a market square where a particularly shady merchant was trying to scam the man, to which Siofar chuckled and offered her assistance in completing the deal without any 'legal' issues. The man's dwarven bodyguard always rubbed her the wrong way and their relationship remains tumultuous at best. However, the man himself she took a liking to and she became business partners with him.

The Riot excites Sio, her heart racing, the atmosphere influencing her to an ecstatic degree. She breathes in a tone of simmering giddiness "Oh my~ What a lovely gathering" She snickers. Her hands on her dual blades, ready to act should the situation escalate to a violent degree. Although... She'd also be waiting for a chance of riling up the crown even more, Sio wanted some excitement.

Sio halts her company of bandits and grave robbers "Hold! The creature slumbers up ahead. Quiet" She orders in a stern tone of voice, slowly moving ahead as she keeps looking for anything that could hinder them during the process of restraining the great beast ahead of them.
--Magic Application--

Magic Biography:
(At least three paragraphs about your character's relationship to magic, and how they may discover their potential.)
Sio discovered her potential through appraising different items along her journeys and adventures. Procuring items for her clients or thieving things from unsuspecting mages or scholars. Through explorations or just plain chance did she discover her racial trait of identifying these trinkets, does she know that it's due to her cursed race? No she does not, she hasn't met another Ash Elf to confirm.
Please explain, in your own words, the limits Ash Elves have placed on them:
Ash Elves are unable to wield magic as such, instead they can handle enchantments and identify the nature of imbued items.
Please give a description of the magic system in your own words:
As this doesn't as such apply to my character as much, I'll rather just explain the way enchantments and trinkets work:
Trinkets: As I understand it these are catalysts to the a mage's powers of the arcane, and the mage will find it hard to cast without them. There are different aspects to each trinket.
Enchantments: As it seems enchantments are imbued into things to make them function with supernatural power or abilities.
-Please note that some aspects are set when a character is born, while others are up to practice. The number of aspects you have is limited by your character's race, but they may have less than the max should you so choose, but they will not be able to regain that lost aspect naturally-
An excellent little application, and it's always nice to see more Ash Elves around! There are a few notes I'd like to make before we can proceed with approval, though. Last thing first, if you can please describe the magic system regardless of whether the character doesn't strictly use the same kind of magic? We need this to know that you understand the system well!
Second, I'd just like to see a little bit more of the backstory regarding the character during her travels and voyages. A lot has happened since the fall of Silivrenmîr and some of these events are very likely to have impacted the character in one way or another. You can see the timeline of events here
Events that are worth including after the Pact Wars and subsequent Demon Wars, especially as they relate to someone who may have been sailing at the time, would be things like the the Ca'Liar invasion, the Plague and Memory Curse (with Barkamsted going under quarantine), and of course the recent winter that lasted a year.

--IC Information— Character name:Robert Guiscard Race: Human Age: 20 Gender: Male
Character Description: Robert is 5'10, he has a muscular build. Robert has a scar on his eye which was caused by an accident at a young age. Robert has a beard. Robert has brown hair as well as blue eyes.
Character Occupation: (Optional): From a young age Robert was fascinated with swords and practiced himself and became a decent swordsman(at least that is what he thinks of himself).
Character Personality/Traits: Robert has many good and bad qualities as many normal people do. Some of his good traits are that he is a good planner and he likes to plan things out before he enters. He is also good regarding planning off the top of his head and out of thin air. Robert also has decent eyesight as in he can see pretty well. Finally, Robert is also quiet, intelligent, at least where he grew up, he was one of the smarter kids. Robert also has some bad qualities as well, such as he has a massive ego which sometimes gets him in trouble with a lot of people. Robert also doesn't like to work with others and he refers to working alone a lot of the time and is seen as a massive introvert by others.
Character Biography: Robert was born into a decent family where his father was a knight under a lord and his mother stayed home to take care of him and his brother. Robert grew up in a decently sized town where he went to school to become a knight just like his father. Robert looked up to his father as the goal. Robert had a little brother named Mo, who was Roberts, the favorite family member. Robert went to a school where they taught the children how to become knights. Robert was one of the best students in the school as he was considered a prospect.
When Robert was 11, he lost his father to attackers in the town. After the loss of his father, Robert's mother was never herself, and Robert was forced to take care of his younger brother Mo. Eventually the town where Robert and his family live was attacked by raiders in which Robert was separated from his mother and younger brother Mo, and he never saw them again. Time passes and Robert does all sorts of jobs to make a living.

The Human and Pact races begin to fight with each other and my character gets in the middle of the fight. Robert will try to get out of the fight seeing as he really doesn't want to be there, but then eventually he will fight back in self-defense. Eventually, when the guards begin to stop the fight between the two races, Robert will either get beat up by the guards or even be put into jail for fighting.
For whatever reason, your character finds themselves in an ancient tomb, the walls thick with brambles and foliage. From up ahead, you spy what appears to be a shambling mound of something. It pauses, quivers and moans. What do they do?
Robert will try to find an escape or a way out of there, but if there is no way to get out, Robert will, then if it comes to it, Robert will draw his sword and try to fight the mound. Although Robert will try to avoid this as much as possible, if it comes to it Robert will fight, and if he wins he will try to leave, but a good chance Robert might die.
You mentioned in our #general-inquiries channel on Discord that you would like to change the race and some of the details of your character. Please let me know when you're ready to have the app reviewed and I will take a look through it!
For your reference, whilst clicking on the Races section of the forums only shows up humans there are a lot more than that. On mobile this can be especially confusing.
Your definition of Power Gaming is slightly off. Please update it and let me know.
As for the character, I would like to see a bit more of the character's personality. A bit more detail there would be lovely. Furthermore, I would like to see the background catered more to the specific world of Saphriel. There was only a single human lord by the time Robert would be born, that being Barkam. At the time, more or less the only two cities would have been Barkamsted and Falkvard, the latter barely retaken. There were a few events in Robert's life that would have also had an impact and it would be great if you could tie them in to his backstory! Per the first post on the forum:
-Please read through our Rules and Lore on our ‘main site’
-The general event timeline can be found ‘here’ with a bullet list 'here'
-A quick start player guide can be found ‘here’
-Please keep in mind some races are ‘Player+’ only, and cannot be your first character

--IC Information— Character name: Andagon Vicis Race: Human Age: ~37 Gender: Male
Character Description: A man of average height, brown hair, brown eyes, and pale skin with just a hint of color to him. A man who blends into the crowd, who strikes up no flags for memory, whose name just as likely never struck a chord of anyone's retelling of a story. He is as average as a blade of grass, a single blade which cannot be discerned from all the others. That is this man, the average person to all, wearing rags and patchwork of better clothes to cover what the rags fail to. Worn and weary, he grins a grin that lacks on a scarce few teeth, the rest unremarkable as the rest of his - white, yet not too pristine - yellow, yet not too rotten. So average was he for a human that any would be excused for paying him no heed... And they would be right to do so, for he lacks anything as important as others may bear to distinguish himself. If there was anything he would be outstanding and memorable for, it would be for the sheer amount of commonalities he shares with the image of a human.
Yet upon closer look, he is not without features, not a mannequin nor statue. His flesh bears the mark of wear and of tear. A scar streaks across his skull's left flank, cutting into his hairline a good few inches and streaming down to his jaw, twisted flesh carrying the signs of a poorly healed injury. Yet this scar is the most of what is unique to this poor man, for without it he truly dissolves into a crowd.
Character Occupation: (Optional) Drifter, Hermit, Beggar, Nomad. A man without many skills but the mouth to say he does... Unconvincingly. Surprisingly, literate.... Enough.
Character Personality/Traits: While he looks like he plays no part in this world, no outstanding features to remember him by, his mind and tongue share a different story. He is on the bottom rungs of this society, one who could hardly hold a position as a farmhand even. Sitting on the side of the road is all that would suit him, begging for even the scarcest of coin. Yet, he has the mind and tongue of one far above his station, in the occasions which he is truly sane.
Truly he once must have held a greater mind, a greater station, a greater upbringing, yet it must have been a severe injury to leave him bereft of his mind most his days. He does beg on the side of the roads, he does babble incoherently at times, yet in the faint moments of clarity, he has as sharp a mind as any. If only those moments lasted longer.
Even in his less coherent moments, he shows himself to be a religious and respectful man, perhaps not always aware of societal expectations or barriers. Despite this, even in his most incoherent ravings he shows a respect to the powers that be and the people with bluer blood than the rest. When his mind is recollected, that is when his true reverence and respect is shown, a gentleman trapped within the suffering body of a madman.
Character Biography: Study. Stand silent. Study. Eat. Swing swords. Sleep. Study. Stand silent. Study. Eat. Swing swords. Sleep. Repeat ad infinitum. The daily life of a boy with little freedom to explore his own unique persona, destined to fulfill a familial purpose his blood demanded of him. And so he did, day after day, obediently. He learned to read and write, he learned how to address others and to dance. He learned the history of the world, and he learned to use a sword. The daily dullness would make any wilt and perish, yet without a personality of his own, he persisted.
The Vicis family were of moderate wealth and prestige. Small and ambitious, they had made names for themselves in the dark times of the westerly flight, guiding and protecting refugees and later defending the people from the Pact. By no means were they of great renown, it was nonetheless undoubted that they had earned much from their base and unknown roots.
A young man would eventually become of him, well mannered and well learned, skilled with a blade and even moreso with his trained tongue. He was on the path of greatness, as far as 'Great' went for one almost manufactured by his kin to serve his purpose as heir. Yet with years under his belt forged in minor conflicts against the demons and the policing during the plague, he had formed something of his own personality, as small as it may be. He hungered knowledge, desired to learn. More than a desire for a warm bed or glory on a field, he desired to know as much as he could, and despite the overall expectation not being placed on him, his free time consisted of reading. And it was reading on a small task to Barkamsted that he would find himself within a carriage, mindlessly thumbing through a cheap tome he acquired a day prior, when the city was suddenly under attack. His driver and brother both perished, and Andagon found himself... Or rather, no one found him, bleeding on the ground amidst many corpses. His mind was shattered just as his skull was, yet fortune would have it that the Ca'Liar would not claim his life that day.
Since the events of that day, Andagon found himself unable to recover his once prestigious upbringing. While his kin did find him some time after the incident, he was lost and broken, and so they discarded him on the streets to struggle for a life ever since. Yet his desire to learn, to collect knowledge, seek it out, has not vanished. It is merely kept under the overwhelming need to afford his next meal and trapped behind the cage of a shattered, incomprehensible prison of a mind. A tragic tale like many others, this once fine young man has aged to be a beggar with little prospects in this world, though his moments of clarity allow his sharp intellect to take over and finally express himself in bursts of pure inspiration.
Since then, the name of Vicis has descended into obscurity, the last of the line falling prey to the savage reality that war brings. The last known blood of Vicis stained the blades of the Orcish warriors, though which side of the fighting they were is lost to rumors and speculation. The world continued to spin its yarn of story, yet Andagon would not play a role in the tale. When the farms suffered and food grew scarce, life hardly changed for him. As the Orcs brought upon a new set of wars, and later began to meld with society as it was known, life hardly changed for him. No one pays heed to the beggars, and the beggars pay no heed to the troubles outside the walls. And yet, somewhere deep under the scarred mind of Andagon, the tales of history were recorded as they occurred, just unable to break free from their prison of the mind.
He found a knack for finding himself in the midst of trouble, or at least on the sidelines, yet never once engaging in the meat of the matter. Exploring the woods for an apple oft yielded sightseeing battlegrounds between man and cat, following a rabbit down a hill nearly lost him his head from an Orcish attack, and when the Knights Order quarantined the Pine Forest, Andagon nearly walked in for he simply wanted some shade - thankfully, he is quite poor in sneaking past a trained Knight. Time and time again, Andagon has found himself where he should not be, and while still just a beggar, his eyes have seen much, yet his mind pretends otherwise.
--Scenarios—
Please give us a roleplay response to both of these scenarios, at least one paragraph each
(I assume as the character applied as?)
A small riot breaks out in Barkamsted between Humans and Pact races. They're quickly gaining the attention of the guards as the situation escalates. Your character is somehow swept up into the crowd as the situation grows more dangerous, what do they do?
I was only asking for some coin - why am I smack in the middle of this? Why are they arguing? Something about getting out of the city? I'm not that much of a hindrance, am I?
"COIN!" I yelled. I was quite hungry, I was hoping to score big tonight, but now I'm being shoved around and everyone's yelling. Even the big guys over there, with the swords and stuff, seem angry.
"Little Hopper! Fly swat yellow blooded pickle ham!" No use, I didn't get a donation for a warm meal like I asked, only a punch to the jaw - I hope it didn't knock a tooth out. Damn Pact... Or was it that man? I don't know, it's dark and noisy, I should make my way out. I pushed through, returned the kind gesture of a punch here and there, got some back. What a kind town.
"Hammer swing feather weight! Dark robe heavy loss?" I tried to warn them all, as this town was quite crazy. No one listened. My body was starting to hurt, not used to this, haven't eaten for a few days. Was this the end?
"Gold bird pecks at Andagon! Shoo shoo, shadow! Sands blow not the shifting sea of blood!" I knew I would be fine if it happened, but still I pushed on... Soon, I was out of the crowd, safe and sound. I took a bruising, but I was out, I could leave as the guards handled this mess, I could go beg on another path.
I heard a cling. I turned around. I saw a coin among the shifting feet.
I leapt in. Dinner would be served.
For whatever reason, your character finds themselves in an ancient tomb, the walls thick with brambles and foliage. From up ahead, you spy what appears to be a shambling mound of something. It pauses, quivers and moans. What do they do?
Oh no. This didn't look good, I haven't a clue what that could be. Most likely dangerous, knowing where I was. I didn't know where I was, and that was the problem. I needed to declare my own power, my own authority, to dissuade it from coming at me.
"Shoo shoo! Dogs need not the bone laid before a bear! Fly away, eat the slick droppings of the elder woman!" That surely would dissuade the entity, I was a master of intimidation and my words were finely spun like a golden thread from an enchanted loom.
It started to move, at me? Oh no... It must not have the capacity to hear things or understand my tongue. I took out my book and my quill and wrote it down, needed to remember this for later. Yes, yes, 'The large shambling mound in the ancient tomb cannot understand the common tongue. Intimidation fails on it.' "Moving piles heed not the roar of brooms" I wrote
Andagon is not a fighter. Andagon is a lover, a scholar. Andagon... Will run now.
--Magic Application-- I do not intend on Andagon being a super magic-centric character, at least at the start. However, I like the potential and capability for the story to one day turn that way.
Magic Biography: Special birth is of course tied to greatness in life, and what is more great than wielding the great powers of magic within this world? Andagon possesses this potential, though has yet to tap it. With his injury, he may never tap into it, for he has yet to realize it himself... And his kin would never tell this mad man. His family has produced fine mages before, though admittedly never the greatest names amongst them. All that have had the potential have at least been attuned to the Fire aspect, though from there they have been varied. The Vicis family is one that largely emphasizes the flame, each member having a strong and unabated passion for something or another... Just as Andagon has.
Yet now the man wastes away as a beggar on the streets, his mind too frayed and scattered to even consider that he could produce a simple flame with the simplest of trinkets. What would he do with a trinket anyway? Probably sell it for a meal, maybe two if he was absolutely lucky. Yet the flicke, the spark, of potential lies within him... He just needs the opportunity and the moment of clarity to chase it down, and the greastest of luck to continue it on without the flames of magic extinguishing within him. Will he ever attain the opportunity? That ability? That is unknown, up for the future to decide... For now, he only wishes to survive the next night on the cold streets, on the dark paths, in the dangerous woods.
Please describe the magic system, including its limitations in your own words: Magic currently is cast through the aid of magical trinkets by those who have the potential to use magic (useless by those who do not). Like a muscle, people have different proficiencies and skills in magic use and improve it over time. However, people have aspects of magic they are more attuned to, and those are the only ones they can raise above a certain level (medium). Specific races have different numbers of aspects they can have this ability for. Different trinkets are attuned to different aspects.
Overusing magic one is not capable of will result in physical strain. Just like a muscle, overuse can cause strains, soreness, physical injuries, but can also lead to more dire results - up to and including death. Using magic too great for a trinket can even cause it to explode violently, harming the user (and potentially those around). It's a complex process and mechanism that takes much training and practice to refine, but can be potent in the hands of a skilled user. Used poorly, it can be worse on the user than a target.
Please describe how you would use a weak trinket with your characters first/only aspect: ~Fire~
A weak trinket isn't truly capable of any combative purposes, unless you consider a small burn on your arm a disabling blow. Snap and boom, a small flicker of a flame on your fingertip, capable of lighting some really dry hay or providing the spark to start a small fire... But not much else. You'd need to really press that thing onto someone to actually burn them! And be quick about it!
Denied

Xenos does not care about anyone but himself, but he hates people who are bad. He calmly tells both the humans and the Pacts to get away.

Character Description:
(At least one to two paragraphs describing your character’s physical appearance, including height, eye color, and skin tone.)

Define Power-gaming in your own words: Power gaming to me is when roleplaying with a disregard to the other characters in the roleplay, usually the one you're immediately engaging with. Like attacking someone with a killing blow without giving them the chance to fight back, for example. It could also mean having your character do things they reasonably are not capable of doing, like building a nice house with zero carpentry experience, or performing a surgery with zero knowledge of anatomy of medicine.
Define Meta-gaming in your own words: Meta-gaming is using outside game knowledge to your character's own advantage, or in-game knowledge that your character themselves would have no way of knowing themselves.
Define Role-Playing in your own words: RPing to me is engaging in a social environment with one or more other people, usually in some sort of fictional setting, where each of you (also usually) play characters other than yourselves, at least in some capacity.
--IC Information—
Character name: Castien Cainhurst
Race: Half-High Elf
Age: 48
Gender: Male
Character Description:

--Scenarios—
A small riot breaks out in Barkamsted between Humans and Pact races. They're quickly gaining the attention of the guards as the situation escalates. Your character is somehow swept up into the crowd as the situation grows more dangerous, what do they do?
--Magic Application--
Magic Biography:
(At least three paragraphs about your character's relationship to magic, and how they may discover their potential.)

Winter has ended; it is now Spring.

Cheers!
I just updated the application and added a way that my character could potentially learn about magic and how to go about obtaining and using it.

Character Biography:
(At least three paragraphs describing your character's history and experiences, you must reference server lore)
Siofar was born on the streets of Silivrenmîr an urchin and a vagabond, robbing those of wealth. No orphanage wanted the chaos which was Sio. At about 12 years of age she found faith in the god Behmos, He of Darkness and Sin, for she was a sinner and operated within the realms of darkness. Her life was not the easiest as she did all odd jobs a child was capable of doing, danger abound! Street smarts gained.
As she aged to 16, her attractive features would garner the eye of many, and of this she took advantage, gaining skill as a musician, a mercenary and in espionage. Her talents eventually catching the eye of the owner of a casino. Taking her under his wing he'd teach to her what was necessary to run the business and manage finances. He taught her how to keep to the relatively straight and narrow, and out of the reach of the law. The man became quite dear to her, a mentor for more than 20 years, a family she thought she'd never have. on her 40th birthday the man gave her a set of obsidian dice that became part of her everyday use. Upon his death during the fall of the city, she took to the coast, no longer feeling the pull to keep her within the confines of the city, the freedom of the ocean calling, yet another adventure starting.
A few years on the high seas taught her the dealings of how to be a merchant, an extra language learnt in her pursuit to keep the customer happy, even if that customer was of the less reputable sort. Once more on land, she'd travel, a minstrel and a performer for a while, pickpocketing her audience without them even knowing their valuables had left their persons.

I look forward to seeing the changes!

Character name: Andagon Vicis
Race: Human
Age: ~37
Gender: Male
Character Description:
A man of average height, brown hair, brown eyes, and pale skin with just a hint of color to him.
Character Occupation: (Optional)
Drifter, Hermit, Beggar, Nomad. A man without many skills but the mouth to say he does... Unconvincingly. Surprisingly, literate.... Enough.
Character Personality/Traits:
While he looks like he plays no part in this world, no outstanding features to remember him by, his mind and tongue share a different story.
Character Biography:
Study.
--Magic Application--
I do not intend on Andagon being a super magic-centric character, at least at the start. However, I like the potential and capability for the story to one day turn that way.
Magic Biography:
Special birth is of course tied to greatness in life, and what is more great than wielding the great powers of magic within this world?
Please describe the magic system, including its limitations in your own words:
Magic currently is cast through the aid of magical trinkets by those who have the potential to use magic (useless by those who do not).
Please describe how you would use a weak trinket with your characters first/only aspect:
~Fire~
A weak trinket isn't truly capable of any combative purposes, unless you consider a small burn on your arm a disabling blow. Snap and boom, a small flicker of a flame on your fingertip, capable of lighting some really dry hay or providing the spark to start a small fire... But not much else. You'd need to really press that thing onto someone to actually burn them! And be quick about it!
