Following on from feedback from Minecraft Forum members and internal discussion amongst Minecraft Forum staff we have decided that moving forward the PC Servers section should be re-organised to consolidate all server threads into one section, which are then organised based on prefixes. This approach will provide an ideal way for members to find the servers that they're most interested in, while giving all servers equal exposure, instead of the previous fragmented approach that favoured some server types over others.
If you're looking for a specific type of server simply click on the prefix type, for example to see all servers labelled Survival click on Survival.
Please use this thread for any feedback or suggestions. Thank you!
Would be to move the servers above the PS4 Edition, Xbox One Edition, etc, etc. Maybe under Mapping and Modding. Since servers are a giant portion of the forums.
This is a great way to provide a better directory in order to peruse all server types. I would like to make the suggestion to have a subforum for members who would like to post an advertisement for a specific server they may be looking for. This would benefit us in several ways.
A player-driven server and/or friend advertisement subforum would:
Cut down on time spent looking through pages and pages of the PC Servers subforum for specific needs.
Allow members to offer or sell their staff and admin services.
Let admins who run private servers to hand select members.
Encourage active (posting in a player thread) and inactive (maintaining a server thread) recruitment in order to discourage spamming and bumping threads.
Gives members a subforum to search for partners to start servers or record videos with.
In summation, my suggestion would greatly enhance the new compilation of the PC Server Subforum and enrich member experience when dealing with the unnecessary stress of finding friends to play with.
Allow members to offer or sell their staff and admin services.
We do not allow the selling/offering of services outside of the allowed items specified in the rules. A new section would not permit such advertisement of services.
This method of reorganization certainly helps equal the playing field in some respects, but I feel that further considerations may need to be made. The current tags are much too broad to describe certain servers which wish to expand gameplay past traditional mechanics such as PVP, Factions, etc. that would previously be classified under "Objective."
I launched a new server project about 3 weeks ago under the Objective Servers category and was pleased to find a steady trickle of users each day. Once this reorganization hit, our visibility tanked. The "Roleplay" tag was our best chance to be found even though our server is not based entirely around it. How are server owners supposed to advertise server types that players haven't seen before under such generic tags? What about a server based around European diplomacy or a favorite video game? "Objective" was the perfect blanket term, but this section has been removed.
An "Objective" tag or something similar may remedy this problem. I believe that the MCForums is on to something with how they are approaching the PC Servers section, but I think that the tags may need some editing. I really hope that originality and creativity within the server community will not be trumped by the homogeneity of "PVP," "24/7" and "Towny/Factions" -- it's what keeps many 4+ year old Minecraft players coming back to a game that is renewed within each different server.

There is an Objective prefix already, you can click here to see servers already prefixed with Objective. Are you not seeing this on the selection input?
No need to feel silly! We, long term, need to work on the way that filtering is presented. If you can miss the Objective prefix -- when looking for it! -- then there's room to improve. I think there's lots of options open to us to turn the section into a pleasure to navigate, and greatly improve surfacing all sorts of servers that members might not seek out but will greatly enjoy. That said, I can't make any promises if/when it'll happen, but it's something I'm thinking about
this may provide equal exposure to all servers however you get less of it. bumped one of the server threads im on with more info and within 20 or so minutes it was back a few pages already however when it was objective server forum it would stay up there alot longer giving it more exposure to the people that actually wanted to play objective maps. now it gets more exposure to people that wont actually look at it at all and then it goes away unless searching for one of the tags it has

I'm in a similar boat. On the bright side, the Objective tag section is very small. We just have to hope that MCForum users know how to navigate!
Could the filters perhaps be alphabetized? This might make it easier to navigate through the listing.

Love it

A section where players can post threats about a specific server they would like to find
This is great idea! Thank you. We all will find 'real' thing we are searching for.
