Introduction
Hello, and welcome to the advertisement thread for Novabox! We are currently a small Minecraft community started by a couple of friends with a goal to provide a fun, easy, and clean multiplayer experience. Thank you for checking us out!
About Us
I started out server hosting on another well-known sandbox game known as garry'smod. Instead of sticking to TTT, Murder, or any other Mindless gamemodes, I instantly started playing on Half Life 2 roleplay servers, set in a dystopian world controlled by an alien race, where I found my passion, before I had even played the game it was based upon. After playing for about a month on assorted servers, being the developer I am, hopped onto gLUA, where I was hired for a community known as Bushido. A couple weeks after launch, it was destroyed by the many factors that destroy servers like this. I tried to start my own community known as Virtual Gaming, but it failed due to my lack of experience. Several months later, I was hired into Vortex Roleplay, which stood for months before being destroyed yet again. I then founded a HL2RP community, known as Freedom Roleplay. That being www.freedomroleplay.com That being an amazing feat, because HL2RP is one of the most dramafest, arguement-filled, and hardest to run gamemode I know of. And it survived for over 6 months (which is an amazing timespan for servers that usually last weeks) before dieing at the hand of the incompitant staff team. I learned a lot, and it shaped me as a person, providing experience with server hosting, communities, and even how to have more fun, and I wouldn't have learned these things otherwise.
After Freedom Roleplay, I wandered onto the idea of a Minecraft community, with later plans for starting HL2RP on an entirely different gamemode, and ended up with Novabox, which was the final choice of name after the countless brainstorming lists. After originally going with Garrysmod, an idea popped into my head. Minecraft. I had been playing Minecraft with my little brother for over a year, running on an offline version, due to the expense of minecraft. After the idea, I up and bought Minecraft, and decided to enlist a couple of friends, who had inspired me to start a server in the first place. We talked on Skype, and on Busrides to school about the idea, and one day I started working. I setup the website and forum over the course of a couple days, and hosted a local minecraft server on my machine until we were done building and touching up on features, where I would later transfer it over to our host.
Our Goal(s)
Our goal is simple, provide a fun and clean experience for Multiplayer. How are we going to accomplish this, though? After looking and playing on dozens of other servers, I have learned relatively what works, and what doesn't. The first of these 3 goals being complexity. In essentially all of the servers I went on, the spawn was absolutely enormous, and despite looking pretty good, I was extremely lost, with vague signs pointing in the wrong direct as my only guide, and once I finally made it out of the spawn, I either got an utterly destroyed world, or a world with protected land for miles, which were both equally annoying. Thus brings our first and second goals into light. The first of them being an easy to navigate, yet beauitful experience. This means small, compact. Second off being a beauitiful minecraft world. Thanks to the hard work of our admistrators, and several plugins (such as TreeAssist, which autoreplants a sapling when you cut down a tree, with 30 seconds of protection.) we will try our hardest to maintain a minecraft world full of ore, trees, and land. The third and last goal is signs. Everyone I hate servers where everything is handled by ugly and complex signs. Ew.
What We're Looking For In Builders
What are we looking for in builders? Our requirements are extensive, but these assure that the members of our community get the best looking structures as possible!
Builders with over a year of experience. (Exceptions can be made.)
Having a Microphone will improve your chances heavily.
Mature players who are willing to accept critisism or suggestions from players and staff alike.
Friendly and kind players.
What will you get in return? Well in return for your hard works, besides gratitude and compliments, you will receive a weekly pay of ingame currency hand given by one of our staff members. This does NOT mean you will be receiving staff, as being a good builder does not qualify you in any special way (other than trust) in receiving staff. This also means that you will not be allowed to abuse your perks, and spawn in items from creative mode to give to your character when in survival. (Doing so will result in immediate removal from the building team.)

Our Plugins Craftbook - Pipes, Redstone Netherrack, Variables, Painting Switcher, Hidden Switches This allows us to add several features to our server, such as netherrack which can be toggled via redstone. In the future we will add custom crafting recipes. CommunityBridge This gives us the ability to link our minecraft server to our forum. Citizens 2 This allows for scripted NPCs, which helps the world feel much more alive, and clean. dltTraders Built upon Citizens 2. A shop GUI that runs on our basic economy, where you can buy assorted items by right clicking on a special NPC (that looks like a player) which will look like a player, and run a small shop building. (Self-Explanatory if on the server.) Quester Supports Citizens 2. Allows for Dynamic Quests between NPCs. Possibly to be replaced by Denizens. Denizens Built upon Citizens 2. Virtually an entire new API/Programming language. Not just restricted to NPCs. Multiverse - Core Allows for Multiple worlds. The current worlds are the Spawn/Minigames world, and the Survival World. Sentry Built upon Citizens 2, allows for dynamic sentries, which is only used to protect the spawn village (currently). Multiverse - Portals Allows for simple portals between worlds. Essentials Adds of hundreds of new features and commands essential for any minecraft server. GroupManager A part of Essentials, allows for different groups with different permissions. FrameProtect Allows for you to own picture frames so nobody else can break/steal them. WorldGuard An administrative tool that allows us to protect certain areas from different things, such as the spawn village from creeper explosions, TNT, or griefers in general. TreeAssist Everytime a tree is broken at the bottom log, the entire tree breaks, and a sapling is planted in that tree's place automatically, and that sapling cannot be broken for 30 seconds. WorldEdit An administrative tool that allows for hundreds of new World Editing commands. PowerRanks Allows for ranks that have addon permissions and tags. VanishNoPacket An administrative tool which allows administrators to turn invisible, and be seen as disconnected or not online, to stalk griefers, potential hackers, people abusing their builder, etc. Vault API Dependencies for other plugins, essentially dependencies that can link everything together to make it work. The names of the dependencies never change function or name, so it's a universal key of sorts.
Our Economy
We run a super simple economy based upon the notion that 1 Gold Nugget = 1 Ǥold. The values are as shown:
1 Gold Nugget = Ǥ1
1 Iron Bar = Ǥ2.5
1 Gold Bar = Ǥ9
1 Emerald = Ǥ15
1 Iron Block = Ǥ22.5
1 Diamond = Ǥ25
1 Gold Block = Ǥ81
1 Emerald Block = Ǥ135
1 Diamond Block = Ǥ225
Our shopkeepers run using on this currency, and it's extremely easy to check, give, and take Ǥold. Typing /eco, /economy, /money gives you an easy way to check your balance. And giving money is as simple as /eco give [amount] [username] for player to player transactions.
