The multicraft panel is extremely slow so it's impossible to manage your server.
I can't even upload any plugins or update the config of files without the page timing out and giving me the 'This webpage is not available' error.
I was really looking for a future host and this one caught my eye, looks like I'll have to look for another.
We're currently working to improve the speeds of the panel. If you use an external FTP client such as FileZilla you won't have any issues uploading files as this completely bypasses the panel. Thank you providing the information about the error you received, it will help us find a solution quicker.
Fairly fast server hosting, however fairly slow customer service response.
The website advertises 24/7 support, yet I do not believe they fully deliver.
After no reply on ticket for a full 24 hours I decided to contact the team mentioned on the website directly.
The only person who responded claimed to not be working for Shockbyte any longer.
So far, I would recommend the host due to their cheap prices to those who are interested in Vanilla minecraft. As the servers have good response time (this may vary due to your location as servers are in Canada). If you are planning on running a modpack and it requires additional work from the administrator or somebody who has access to their servers, well...you may be waiting 24+ hours for response (Ticket ID: 368985).
The sales question was replied to my email fully (each point was well addressed and explained), this however also took approximately 18 hours.
You probably didn't send the ticket in the right place. Multiple places on the website appear to be valid places to send tickets, but actually don't work at all. For example, if you hit "contact" on their website's header, it will lead you to a contact form. This contact form does not work. Then, from here, if you decide to hit the orange "open ticket" button on the left side of the page, it will bring you to a different form. This one also won't work. The only form that works is if you click the small "open ticket" text on the bottom of the page. Here's the specific ticket link if you want to submit a sales ticket: https://shockbyte.com/billing/submitticket.php?step=2&deptid=1
It is understandable why you made this mistake, because there is no indication that the other links have forms that are not functional, but when you actually use the correct one, support responses are moderately fast. Good luck!
There was a delay on ticket responses in the last few days due to a large volume of tickets and lack of available staff. Everything should now be back to normal and we're currently in the process of hiring new staff to prevent this from happening in the future.
Good servers, but the support is never there! I've had a ticket for 3 days on high priority and no reply! I cannot run my server due to a glitch, so I'm losing money!
You might be sending your tickets through the wrong system or something, idk, however, the most I've had to wait for a ticket to be responded to was 1 hour max. Other than that one time, I've had all my tickets responded to within an hour
Yesterday I decided to buy a nice, cheap $2.50 server from Shockbyte! This is my 1 day review of them. I'll break it up into Server Performance, Price, and Support.
Performance: So far, I have had no issues with performance. When I first opened the server it was a little laggy, but since then it has been nothing but smooth. So far I've only had 2 players on at one time (myself and a friend) with about 6-8 plugins and there was no lag. It's too soon to say 10/10 on performance as I haven't stretched the server with 10+ players, but as of now, if you want a small private cheap server, I'd say 10/10.
Price: Shockbyte's prices are literally unbeatable. The cheapest server hoster I've seen (other than SB) is GG Hosting for $3/gb. If your new to server hosting, I would say Shockbyte is a good place to start because of their cheap prices. Of course, everyone knows the tradeoff of Price vs Quality, but I'll touch on that more in the Support.
Support: I've opened 2 tickets so far, one of which is unanswered (I just posted it). The first ticket was a login issue I was having with FTP. My login was incorrect. When I first opened the ticket, I got a very quick reply (9 minutes) and then continued to exchange replies trying to solve the issue with an average reply time of 5 minutes. Eventually however, the person who was answering the ticket never answered. I started thinking this was how Shockbyte went about with their cheap servers, with bad support. The next day, however, I got a reply telling me what I needed to do to reset my password for FTP and it was all fine from there. So, from my 2 tickets so far I would rate a 7/10 on service. The replies weren't always helpful (sometimes just restating the problem I proposed), but for this cheap of a server I felt it was fantastic!
I'll definately continue to use Shockbyte until I have a severe issue, and for their cheap prices, the support was great! Good job so far Shockbyte!
Hello! Let me first tell you something shockbyte, your prices are amazing! I mean, only $20 for 8GB!! You beat out all the competition! I just have one question for you, do you offer dedicated IP's? I am going to open a server in the summer, my server will be named ConquestPvP, and I was hoping of having an IP address called conquestpvp.net
Those are some excellent prices! You're all mine if you can offer a dedicated IP!
If you want to see the alpha stages of the website I'm creating for my future server, feel free to do so here: conquestpvp.enjin.com
EDIT: After reading comments, you do offer dedicated IPs for $5 extra! I'll definetely have you as my host! My skype is captainnuclear if you need to contact me.
With the server management option, how much support is given to this?
If I request a server with specific features would you be able to do this for me (even if I am unsure which plugin I require?)
Ideally I want to list my requirements to you and you make the server happen! lol
Obviously I would do the building etc..
also if I was to opt for server mangement could this be taken off after the first month (after the server is setup) or would I need to keep it for the lifetime of my server?
I am currently considering the Cobble Package (to start with) +Dedicated IP +Server Management
do you do promo codes?
We won't search for plugins to do what you're after. You'll need to provide the name of the plugin and we will install it for you. It is possible to cancel Server Management after the first month - to do this, you will need to contact support. We don't currently have any promotional codes available.
My server ConquestPvP will be purchasing a $5 a month server from shockbyte once Spring break hits, we will use it in the upcoming months to put in plugins and configure everything properly until we upgrade to the $20 plan with a dedicated IP when our server fully opens in the summer.
