Having trouble buying Realms? This is what happened to me.
Realms was launched yesterday in the USA. I'm currently living in the US and wanted to get it right away. Well I couldn't visa debit card given to me via my bank would not go through.
I thought that the payment system was down, but that wasn't the fact. This morning (the next day) I got a call from Visa. They saw I was trying to buy realms and stopped the transaction from going through. The Lady on the line said that the site was flagged for two reasons
1) possibly being fraudulent
2) the transaction taking the money outside the US
The Lady verified a few past purchases and If I was indeed the one trying to make the transaction. After that she cleared the site for me to go back and make the purchase.
Update: 4hrs after the call, the transaction was still not working. So I called them back. They said they cleared it and now the issue must be with my bank. So I called my bank and it was.
Before minecraft.net was getting flagged by the visa people and now the site was getting flagged by the bank that provided me the Card.
After having talked it through with the bank, they set it up so I can make the purchase. I would have to wait an hour then have up till midnight to buy it.
After midnight however the site would return to being flagged as a bad site. I asked why and couldn't get an answer as to why minecraft.net was being flagged. Does Mojang know about this problem?
Will update with more info up until i manage to get realms in case anyone is having a similar issues. As far as I can tell Visa and my Bank (in USA at least) don't trust minecraft.net
Update 2 - I have realms up and working now there was one more issue that prevented me from getting realms. I had tried so many times that I think Mojang stopped even trying to charge my card.
This time a guy from the bank said that his program lets him know of any failed transactions as they happen. My card wasn't showing up at all. So Mojang wasn't even trying to take my money anymore. He then gave two suggestions. 1)Try another browser 2)Try from another computer.
Trying from a different browser did not work. Another computer however did. I think Minecraft.net saw me trying and failing so many times that it gave up on me think i might be a bot program. The change in IP with the other computer is what did the trick.
Update 3 - Well it was time to renew my realms having been 6 months. I had to start from the beginning again and do everything the same way I had done it before. This time a useful bit of info is the following. Ask the credit card people to allow future transaction from the website.
Please Post if this has happened to you or if you have any info that will make it easier for other having this problem.
All said and done. I had to make several phone calls, use another persons computer, and wait ages to finally get realms. Mojang needs to sort this out as they are losing revenue. I think many people might give up before completing all that.
To anyone else who stumbles here. I just tried to purchase a Realm and I got the error message. Called the prepaid visacard help desk and they told me that Mojang was declining prepaid cards for subscriptions. I've just emailed them about it. I cannot get a regular credit card at the moment so I use prepaid cards. This is the first time I've had this happen. The card has more than enough for a few months but less than required for 6 months. I just want to try it out with my friends & 1 month at a time is 20% off right now.
I put an update to my op and tried to clean it up a bit so it will be more helpful. I just had to renew my subscription so had to go through the whole process again. This time I found that you can ask the credit card people to allow future transaction from the website. Pls read about it in Update 3 if your having trouble.
Also try out the game factorio it similar to minecraft, and the concept of the game is actually based of of the different factory mods that are out there for minecraft. There is a Demo of the game on their cite.
