“Do you know what we need?” Leslie called to Jesse. “We need a place,” she said “just for us. “It would be so secret that we would never tell anyone in the whole world about it.” Jess came swinging back [across the creek on a rope] and dragged his feet to stop. Leslie lowered her voice almost to a whisper. “It might be a whole secret country,” she continued, “and you and I would be the rulers of it.”
Her words stirred inside of him. He’d like to be a ruler of something. Even something that wasn’t real. “OK,” he said. “Where could we have it?” [Leslie replied,] “Over there in the woods where nobody would come and mess it up.”
“I know”—she was getting excited—“it could be a magic country like Narnia, and the only way you can get in is by swinging across on this enchanted rope.” Her eyes were bright. She grabbed the rope. “come on,” she said. “let’s find a place to build our castle stronghold.”
They had gone only a few yards into the woods beyond the creek bed when Leslie slopped. “How about right here? . . . “Sure,” Jess said. “This’ll be a good place to build.” [And] Leslie named their secret land Terabithia.
Bridge to Terabithia, 1972
I read this book as a youth. I have read Bridge to Terabithia as an adult. And regardless of one’s age, there is something magical about Paterson’s words that invite us all to travel beyond the world of the mundane, and into a secret magical realm of our own.
This is my invitation to you. If you are still reading and understanding this post, it speaks to your patience, your openness, or your fondness for stories. Perhaps it speaks to your simple curiosity. Regardless, these are all characteristics that I am hopeful people will bring to my realm. Since I respect people of all ages, there is no specific age requirement to join. However, respect is the key to this. Disrespect will undo the magic. I am more interested in attitude, fellowship, and mutual trust than I am in past experience. My own Minecraft experience is quite limited in truth, given that I am mostly an above ground builder. I have little experience with the powers of red stone nor have I ever burned to PvP. I am a creator and an innovator—not a destroyer. If you are a creator too, then I welcome you openly into the realm. My recruitment style favors quality over quantity. I would rather have three stellar members, than 20 people who I don't really know.
The realm’s spawn point puts you near the capital that is currently still in construction. It is built (in survival mode) upon the premise of circles within circles. The world is currently at peace (peaceful setting), and offers some time to build before the coming storm. The capital reminds me a bit of Gondor’s White City of Minas Tirith from Lord of the Rings in its circular design. When contemplating the layout and architecture of the capital city, I have aimed to be unique and give the city a feel of truth, as if its citizens had a long history and complex culture. I have yet to name the capital, as I am waiting to see how it evolves over time before giving it an identify.
I would like people to come to the realm and either help with the city and live within its safe and comforting walls, or for bold adventurers to pioneer off into the beyond to stake their claim and make their fortune—remembering the capital as the beginning of their adventures in Terabithia.
But before I invite you to my “secret” land, I have a few questions. If you would like to join, please message me on the forum. The reason for this is to keep your information confidential and secondly to show an extra level of commitment needed to send the message as opposed to just throwing your IGN up. However, I would also really appreciate if you would respond on this post saying something to the effect of “Message Sent” etc.
I am currently running this from an iMac which means Java for PC’s and Mac’s only at the moment. Sorry for the inconvenience. I tried to start the realm a while back and I failed to mention this and so have gone back to the drawing board and attempting it a second time.

What do you think is the most important quality for people to have in the realm?
In full disclosure, these are my responses to these questions.
Occupation: Elementary Special Education Teacher (Tough and rewarding job—love to relax on Minecraft.)
What do you like to do in Minecraft? I really love to build and work with people on creating big projects to make the realm a better place. I also love seeing other people’s creativity at work and learning from their builds. Also, farming is just simply a lot of fun!
