Nation of Skytreasure, Capital City Real Estate Information Guide
Owning a shop or house in the Capital City is the best way to become integrated in the Skytreasure national community. The Capital City is not only the physical center of the realm of Skytreasure, but is also the social and economic hub of the nation. People are encouraged to build their own magnificent modern structures of stone and glass in the Capital on one of these lots for sale. Most of them cannot be purchased with the starting money and need be worked for as well, and so living in the Capital City is proof that you are a vital member of the society and economy of the Nation of Skytreasure.
To buy a lot, first determine if you want a Commercial lot to run a shop, or a Residential lot just to live there. If you're not sure, you can also look for a General lot. Simply look around to see what is available. When you find a lot that you like, note the address and look at its entry in the listings below, paying attention to building regulations that describe what the City would require you to do with the lot. A price estimate is also given. If you are interested in the lot, contact a Real Estate agent either through PM or in-game message, and they will handle the purchase from there.
City-Wide Building Regulations
All buildings must conform to these general guidelines:
[*:f3ggt4po]Main building materials are smoothstone, halftile, and glass. Do not use wood planks or dirt. Birch logs may be acceptable with experimentation. Use cobble only for alternate texture variation. Do not build with obsidian, brick, gold, iron, or diamond blocks except as a small accent.
[*:f3ggt4po]No fire. No netherrack. Use torches sparingly, and lava even more sparingly. The preferred lighting is glowstone. All areas should be well-lit, though, so if you're having financial difficulties affording glowstone, use torches.
[*:f3ggt4po]All ceilings should be a minimum 3 blocks height. Minimum 4 blocks is recommended, and higher ceilings are encouraged.
[*:f3ggt4po]Main roads are 4-5 blocks wide, and alleys are 3 blocks wide, including 1 block for stairs if necessary. Do not obstruct roads more than this.
[*:f3ggt4po]"Hang-overs", or extensions of the second floor over the street are acceptable to 1 or 2 blocks out. Flying buttresses over streets are also acceptable where appropriate. Flat facades are generally not acceptable, except where noted.
[*:f3ggt4po]Minimize grass. If you have grass (which most shouldn't), enclose it with a fence so that animals don't go wandering the streets.
[*:f3ggt4po]Build to your surroundings. Keep a mind for those around you, not to give them space, but to complement their structures to create an overall better-looking and well-designed district. Collaborate with your neighbors when you can, and build not just your lot, but to improve the city itself.

I'll give a 200 bonus for anyone who finds a new vein of anything within our mining area. The boundaries should now be marked in tunnels around the claim.

I didn't have to quote the whole post, but didn't come to mind to delete the others. The point of hollowing them out is to allow for shops to be built in the empty spaces. Most of the lots were solid stone walls, and I asked mors if he needed help. He said yes, and asked if I could hollow out the stone in some of the lots.
Was merely trying to help..

I was thinking that maybe some buildings restrictions shouldn't be so strict. I know you want to stick with the main theme of the city, which I agree with completely, but I think it's important to let people vary their structures a bit more to make them unique. That's just my two ingots on the whole building regulations.

I figure more clearly defining the lots will help the city look more natural. This really started with conzorrr building the clocktower general store hanging in the middle of nowhere, and continued with graeme and forexal building random little shops in Golden Mall without really building to their surroundings. All of it just looked weird, so I figure if we give people a space to work in, they'll use it.

Hmm, ok. What regulations do you think should be changed?
Hmm, ok. What regulations do you think should be changed?
Well this is probably me being nit-picky, but like having to have the windows in a certain place seems like too much regulation. I don't know, I guess. I just think people should be able to put their own touch on things and make the lot look unique while still having it blend well with the theme of the city.
Of course solid stone buildings with no windows do look bland, and solid gold block buildings stick out a bit much, I think there could be a very nice balance between uniqueness and blending while still allowing the owner of the lot to build freely.

The Ura district? I never say what kind or style of windows, only windows. There's lots of creativity there, and indeed, the concern is large bland buildings, but also that we want the underside of that island to actually look like developed buildings, not natural or a hodgepodge structure. I'll look at it later and think about it.
This would make for a lot of long, boring roads and bridges where we don't really need to build them. I modified this design so that 1) roads curve more (thus making them not look so straight and hard-lined boring), 2) roads follow the land (thus making it sensible and economically efficient), and 3) bridges are in sensible locations with the shortest possible distance to travel. I also don't think we need to take public roads to dungeons, lifted lake, or vapor islands yet, so I left those out--though since you wanted them I left the roads getting close at least--and added some roads to islands I know are claimed by people. This is a public project we could realistically undertake that would greatly add value to the server:
The only dungeon we probably want to take a road to is the Helldamn dungeon, where we're building the primary nether portal on the server.
I'd like to claim Upper Helldamn #05 for my personal island, if we're still claiming islands.
Aw crap. I just realized there's 2 #05 islands. The one on the left. let me go change the map now.

I guess I can see that. Especially with the way it looks now (Out of place, so to speak).
