"Most countries are static, and they need to do is keep having babies. But America's like this big old clanking smoking machine that just lumbers across the landscape scooping up and eating everything in sight."
As an above ground builder im hopefully going to build an enormous sloping valley in the center of steep mountains, that goes almost to the bottom of the map, and in that valley I will place an enormous impenetrable fortress with walls at least 7 blocks thick, that go almost to the top of the map. This will of course be placed in a minefeild of pressure plated hooked to TNT. None shall pass. It's a pretty cool idea that im going to work on now, hardest part will be finding a large flat area to put the model on, even harder will be when I make it in SMP, and mine out the valley.
Duh, it's mostly underground, the ETS (Im going to abbreviate Endless Tunnel System from now on.) will let out in a small area in the center of the town that is slightly lower than the streets, it will have crosswalks above it, kind of like a hybrid subway/trainstation, on top of this the castle will be perched.
So, I decided since im only making a model to give my ideas life and the real project was going to be in SMP, I decided to give myself a little bit of help with MinEdit. I envisioned the terrain I was going to place my enormous structure, it was flat, it was stone, there were no trees, or gravel, or sand, or water in sight. So I deleted all of those blocks. What was left was truly beautiful. It looked like an enormous crater with a flat spot in the middle where a lake used to be. And since I had just started a new map the surrounding area was untouched as I discovered it.
Uhh, yeah, stone pickaxes work pretty good on stone. For the occaisonal redstone, gold, or diamond our miners come across, they will use an iron pickaxe or two on those.
As far as my project goes amazingly I have gotten alot done, the enormous crater is now a level cobblestone platform. That was quick, of course, I did use a bit of help getting all the cobblestone from MineEdit, but again, this is really just a model.
EDIT: Well im done for the night. Was deciding on whether ot not to fill the crater or just build a level cap and leave the empty space. I wanted to fill it, it would save me time and effort in the long run, but it seemed like it would take too long. Just about the time I was ready to give up I realized I was about 1/3 of the way done already.
i dunno if they want to add me, but ill probably drop by and do some work here and there. i doubt ill become "full time" since i prefer to jump around alot
Well, time for work amongst other plans for today. Im about 1/3 of the way finished leveling what used to be a lake for my project I mentioned earlier. Once leveling is done ill take a screenshot and an isometric image. Then more updates from there, I have thought of an extremely easy way to do everything else, if it works, I'll let you know.
As to those of you I see who want to join, you have to pm the original poster your name, which of the posistions you want to fill, your age, whether or not you use ventrilo, and any other useful information. I may have missed a feild or two so refer to the post made earlier about this.

and how is it all going to connect to the tunnel system?
That is part of his job.
All the aboveground builders work together on both the cities/forts/towns aboveground, and then plan how to connect them to the tunnel system.
indeed i need my aboveground builders to be very creative when connecting the tunnel.
I'm guessing... ventrilo. http://www.ventrilo.com/
This looks like a good start for this model.

Yeah, it's just a download/sign up thing, I guess.
PM Lonewolf, then. That has already been said multiple times.
