Whenever I check to see if the port is open it isn't. I already set up a static ip address and added the port to my router and windows firewall. I followed all the stuff in the portforward.com guide and it still doesn't work. I added a DMZ and tried it then removed it and tried again. I also tried changing the port and it still didn't work. My router is a belkin F9K1103 v1. Any suggestions?
I am having the exact same problem. Getting ready to connect to a belkin chat agent thingy for help. Will tell you the outcome.
EDIT:
Ok, so I (Being the complete and total retard I am) hadn't set up a static ip on my computer. I did that and it was all I needed. Also, I was trying to get my friend to join and test it. I gave him (yet again, RETARD) the ip of my computer instead of my external ip. Don't make that mistake.

The only other thing I can think of is follow the guides on belkin's website. I have a Belkin Play N600 (AKA: Belkin F7D8302 ver 1000) so I followed this guide: http://en-us-support.belkin.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/60 and I am pretty sure they use the same firmware, but if not, you can go here: http://en-us-support.belkin.com/app/product/list/q/routers/ and enter your routers info and it should be under tutorials. Hope this helps!!!
Checking your external from your own computer may not work, so it really shouldn't be the IP you're using at all. For anything.
