I am trying to host a 1.8 Minecraft server (on my 10.9 mac) and the server has been having problems authenticating. Every time anyone has tried to log into the server, they fail with the message "Authentication servers are down. Please try again later, sorry!"
On the server screen, it says:
[17:58:11] [User Authenticator #1/INFO]: Disconnecting com.mojang.authlib.GameProfile@xxxxxxid=<null>,name=xxxxxxxx,properties={},legacy=false[1] : Authentication servers are down. Please try again later, sorry! [17:58:11] [User Authenticator #1/ERROR]: Couldn't verify username because servers are unavailable
I have checked the mojang server status, the authentication servers are up, and this problem has been going on for a few days now. I don't believe the services are blocked in the mac firewall or the router's firewall. It is port forwarded properly (25565).
Any fixes/suggestions?

Do not look at the following picture. It contains graphic material.

I've usually got the port forwarding set to both, but I double-checked and it is on both.
