Hey there! If you're unsure on how to make a recruitment post for your server or unsure on how to make it look attractive, please read on as some of my tips may come in handy. Now, before we get started you may be asking "Well, why should we trust you?" Believe me, I have very good tips and have had many experiences with servers that were affected in a negative way by their recruitment thread. If you think I should add on more tips, feel free to PM me one or comment it. Let's get started!
Number 1: It's very crucial to include as much detail as possible from your server. In other words, tell us what your server is hoping to bring. I know some of you like to keep it a surprise to build up the hype but just know, it does help to include at least important bits.
:Wrong Way:
Little Johnny: "Hi there. my server is the coolest factions server and it includes many feature so ya join today!"
:Right Way:
Little Timothy: "Hello there! My server hopes to excite you as it includes many features such as Factions where you can make a faction, and fight other players! Bases are an important thing here. Make sure you have a good defense or else you might no expect what will happen to you while you're offline..... Not only that, but it includes vanilla for those who want to feel nostalgic about the old Minecraft!"
Number 2: Get some creativity going and add some custom pictures of your server in your thread! "Well, why is that needed?" To answer your great question, it isn't needed but it attracts the eyes of people who want a quick sneak peek of what to expect when they log in. Not only that, but it will also spark interest to those with an eye of detailed structures!
Number 3: Try your best to use proper grammar and spelling. Okay, at first you may not think using proper grammar or spelling isn't going to heavily effect your post in a good way, but there's where you're wrong. When you use them, people will no doubt think "Wow, this person really put some effort into his writing." It shows that you're very concrete with your writing.
:Wrong Way:
Little Johnny: "hi guys plz fill dis app out and do it proffesionaly thnz"
:Right Way:
Little Timothy: "Hey guys, please take your time on filling out this application and I'll get back to you as soon as possible!"
Number 4: Make A Professional Application. In order to get some of the best hard working people to join you in your efforts on making a great server (Unless you want it to crash and burn), You must create a creative and professional app. (The Right Way app was created by ArchaicMC)
:Wrong Way: IGN:Why do u wanna join?how old r u?wat plugin do u no? :Right Way:Do you have a microphone?:
IGN:
Age:
Time Zone:
Teamspeak(Yes/No) :
Skype:
Why should we choose you over other candidates?
Previous Experience:
How could you benefit ArchaicMC?
What do you believe are your strengths?
What do you believe are your weakness’s?
Why are you applying for a staff position on ArchaicMC?
A player is has decided to spam the chat, what do you do?
A player is advertising another Minecraft server what do you do?
A player claims another player is “Hacking” how do you deal with this?
Number 5: Add Some Humor. From numbers 1-4 you can tell we're being pretty serious but you don't need to be so stuck up in your post. Add some humor in there and show that you're unique and want your server to be very friendly and not so boring and serious. I'm not adding a Wrong/Right way as you should be able to think of your own humor =).
Number 6:(Final tip made by me) Make an interview stage. Yes, this is tedious but will help you shorten your staff results to very mature and loyal users. Somewhere in your post make sure (optional but helpful) you include "We will have an interview stage over skype/discord/teamspeak. You must have a working microphone." You should make no exceptions. Even if they're your best buddy. Here's some good quality questions you should ask them! (Various questions comes from different servers)
What are some of your traits? (Polite, Athletic etc.) What do you think we should expect from you? How mature do you think you are from a scale of 1 - 10? Make sure to explain. Do you agree to never abuse your powers/abuse players?
Those are my tips for creating a close to perfect recruitment post. Thank you for reading and you take it easy!
I'd also use bigger font for the more important points and when having application formats for people to use, you should use the spoilers as they make your post look a bit smaller and more organized. Also if you can add in some graphics, those post seem to always get a lot of replies and feedback!
By bigger font I mean for more of the highlights like Applications:
Just to sort of break it up is what I'm trying to say I guess
Hey there, I took your spoiler advice on board and tried my best to organize it well. If there's anything that should be edited please explain as I'm always open for help to improve, After all, BB Code isn't my thing
