"If Minecraft has any effect on children's behavior, we want it to be a positive one, so we'll change the item used to breed parrots before the 1.12 update is released," Bergensten said. "Our reasoning for originally using cookies was twofold; it gave cookies a reason to exist within Minecraft, and it was a subtle reference to the Nirvana song 'Polly.' However, we didn't consider what the chocolate ingredient would mean to real life parrots!"
I hope the Illusioner mob is at least given a spawn egg before 1.12 releases. Still kinda waiting on something to be done with the endermite or the luck potion though. The Illusioner has a great design, however, and it's good to see Blindness finally used in the game.
It doesn't even spawn anywhere currently, hinting that it's unfinished.
There's a new mob in today's Snapchat: The Ilusioner.
It's a hostile illager that casts blindness on you for 20 seconds and then shoots you with a bow. It acts just like a skeleton when shooting, except it strafes much faster.
When blindness wears off or it's threatened it will turn invisible and then summon duplicates of itself. While they show the shooting animation, are not real and they can not be damaged nor damage you, the real illusioner is invisible however.
It currently doesn't spawn nor drops anything, probably unfinished. It'll most likely spawn in the mansion, which will mean we'll have yet another unique mob that most of the player base will never encounter.
This morning Dinnerbone tweeted a gif of a tutorial popup (showing movement keys). He said it triggers if you stand still for a bit in a new world.
I don't like that trigger mechanic as even newbies probably know how to move around right away. I would prefer a simple thing like "press O for a tutorial" to appear.
WASD tutorial might be a little basic, but things like "HOLD mouse 1 to break a block" or "HOLD spacebar to swim" could help newbies a lot. The game is long overdue for these small yet crucial things to be explained.
Anyway, now that there's a bird model and AI for them, it shouldn't be that hard to add different birds to other biomes now. Of course, they also have a bear model as well yet have done anything with them for other biomes...
