I am not only a Minecraft player but I also like to study 20th century military history, and I am VERY interested in WW2 Imperial Japanese Navy warships. After seeing people build some WW2 ships such as the Bismarck, Yamato, and the Shokaku, I decided to build my own.
Here they are!
From left to right they are: Light crusier Abukuma, light carrier Shoho, and heavy cruiser Suzuya.
Light cruiser Abukuma
The sixth and final ship of the Nagara class light crusiers. Laid down on December 8, 1921, she participated in many actions during the course of WW2, including serving as an escort to the six IJN aircraft carriers that attacked Pearl Harbor. She was sunk on October 26, 1944 during the Battle of the Surigao Strait.
Heavy crusier Suzuya
The third of the four Mogami-class heavy cruisers. Launched on November 20, 1934. Initially they were all classified as light cruisers due to their light armament, but in 1939 they recieved heavier guns and were reclassified as heavy cruisers. Suzuya participated in many battles such as the famouns Battle of Midway, and was sunk on October 25, 1944 at the Battle of Leyte Gulf.
Light carrier Shoho
Second of the two Zuiho-class light aircraft carriers. Launched on June 1 as the submarine tender Tsurugizaki. The design was meant to be easily converted to either an oil tanker, submarine tender, or aircraft carrier. In 1941 Shoho began to be converted into a carrier, with the conversion completed on January 26, 1942. The only major operation she participated in was the Battle of the Coral Sea, where she was sunk by dive-bombers. The commander of the dive bombers relayed the famous message "Scratch one flat-top!" soon after. She was the first Japanese carrier to be sunk during WW2.
Note: All ships are still WIP. All lack the part of the hull underwater, and the Shoho still needs to be fitted with guns. However, ATM I focus on building more ships without the lower hull, rather than completing a ship fully. So I will add the guns of the Shoho then offer download links for all the ships, which will be in .schematic format. The files will be updated once the lower hulls are completed.
Please check back often, as I constantly am working on new ships! Next ship: IDK yet
Note: You will need 2 mods in order to have my ships appear the way they should. Yes, I place historical accuracy in front of any compatibility issues you may have. I used Railcraft's metal posts for the guard rails as I don't like using wooden fences or iron bars. I also used the Little Blocks Mod to make propellers for the planes and to make those red-and-white donut shaped thingys. Download these mods if you want my ships appearing the way they should.
Just before I post screenshots, here are some pictures of the REAL ships so you can compare them to mine and get an idea of what they actually look like.
Anyways, I'm sorry everyone for being inactive, but I stopped checking this topic after getting no replies for a while. I also went on vacation for 3 weeks. Thanks for the kind comments everyone, and yes I have been looking for a texture pack that suits these ships, but so far to no avail.
I did build some new ships, though, but they're still not done. I'll post screenshots later because the keyboard is seriously lagging right now.
