This post is just to demonstrate the texture-pack that I use when playing MC. I really love it, I think it's much nicer to look at (for hours on end) than the default pack, and I find it really smooth but also quite intuitive.
This t.p is based off of the JohnSmith texture pack, though it's the version he released about a year and a half ago. John my bf has been working on it since May of 2011, changing it, scrapping some textures and starting again, and just modding it to his (and later on my) preferences using photoshop.
John (bf) liked using the JohnSmith texture pack, but like me he found it too busy and a bit dense so he decided to rework it and tweak it here and there; now it's gotten to the point where I don't really recognise the JohnSmith elements of the pack but there are little hints here and there.
Disclaimer:
I'd just like to note now that the JohnSmith pack is listed on this website. This Thread makes the following statement:
If you want to use my textures in your pack
You can use, edit and share my textures as long as I'm credited
You are not allowed to make money with my work
And you are not allowed to use my textures in a customizer or in any other games else than Minecraft.
When John distributes his version of the t.p he always gives credit to John Smith, and honestly it's a fab texture pack - much nicer than the original that's for sure. So go have a look at it!
As for Johns reworking of it, he knows I'm posting about it today, and he has given me permission to do so.
The screencaps are taken from a little house I built this afternoon, if people want better demonstrations of the pack in use I can try and get that together. We have a couple castles and a tree house, a rail system and stuff our friends have made on another server plus a whole heap of other junk we've worked on personally; so there's no shortage of structures for demonstration haha.
Images - Please find the images below, and they have been spoilered as there are many.
These are wool colours and textures
These are some of the ore (except coal) - I really like these because they are easy to see in mines and chasms.
Here's the creative mode weapons menu
and the creative mode tools menu
A villager in a wheat crop
This big guy is one of the village protectors, but John wanted to make them look like Bender the robot from Futurama, so we call them 'Benders'.
A little fountain I made to show some water
The tress, some flowers, over grown grass and mushrooms
The little house I made
Inside, the fence textures
The wood textures
The kitchen textures - these are just some paintings which John made into pots and pants, knives, and a few posters which can be anything really.
A little cafeteria area, with some piston tables and cake!
I'm not sure what the name of this painting is, but it's an actual artwork which (as I'm aware) is public domain, and works perfectly if you put them together but I like them apart.
Regular and Ender chests - I know it's pointless having them side by side, I'm just a sucker for evenness.
A bed setting, with glow-stone and hell-world fencing.
A couch setting with a Halo flatscreen T.V.
A little under area - I think it's funny to mention I didn't know that the creative world wasn't as deep as the usual world and I fell into abyss for a little while. That was scary.
Dungeon - for potions and enchanting. Also I know you need more books, but after falling into the abyss I wasn't too keen to dig around more...
Some of the floor is cracked smooth stone, and some is cracked mossy smooth stone, I like it because you can tile it irregularly and it looks almost natural. Well... you know as natural as cubes can get.
So there's some examples, let us know what you think and if you're interested in downloading the texture pack to try it out send me a PM and we will organise emailing it to you.
Yeah I know but 1) I was being too lazy to crop it (I'm sick at the moment, haha), and 2) I didn't think the fullscreen would work.
I want to figure out how to do HD recording and HD screencapping but I fear I'm not clever enough to figure all that or or have the money to buy the programs to make it work. :/
